Book Synopsis Agent-Oriented Information Systems IV by : Manuel Kolp
Download or read book Agent-Oriented Information Systems IV written by Manuel Kolp and published by Springer. This book was released on 2008-02-29 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the eighth year that the Agent-Oriented Information Systems (AOIS) workshops have been held. Papers submitted to AOIS show an increase in quality and maturity as agent technology is being increasingly seen as a viable alternative for software and systems development. In AOIS, we focus on the application of agent technology in information systems development and explore the potential for facilitating the increased usage of agent technology in the creation of information systems in the widest sense. This year’s workshops were held in conjunction with two major, international computing research conferences: the first, in May 2006, was affiliated with the AAMAS conference in Hakadote, Japan and chaired by Garcia, Ghose and Kolp. The second was held in conjunction with the international CAiSE conference held in Luxembourg (June 2006) and chaired by Bresciani, Henderson-Sellers and Mouratidis. (Details of all preceding workshops are to be found at http:// www. aois. org. ) The best papers from both these meetings were identified and authors invited to revise and extend their papers in light of the reviewers’ comments and feedback at the workshop. Following submission to this compendium volume, another round of reviews was undertaken resulting in what you can read here. These re-reviews were undertaken by three members of the Programme Committee – we wish to thank both the authors for undertaking the necessary revisions and the reviewers for this extra call on their precious time.
Book Synopsis Multimedia Security: Steganography and Digital Watermarking Techniques for Protection of Intellectual Property by : Lu, Chun-Shien

This book was released on 2004-07-31 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multimedia security has become a major research topic, yielding numerous academic papers in addition to many watermarking-related companies. In this emerging area, there are many challenging research issues that deserve sustained study towards an effective and practical system. This book explores the myriad of issues regarding multimedia security, including perceptual fidelity analysis, image, audio, and 3D mesh object watermarking, medical watermarking, error detection (authentication) and concealment, fingerprinting, digital signature and digital right management.
Book Synopsis Advanced Dynamics and Control of Structures and Machines by : Hans Irschik
Download or read book Advanced Dynamics and Control of Structures and Machines written by Hans Irschik and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-05-04 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, intended for people in engineering and fundamental sciences, presents an integrated mathematical methodology for advanced dynamics and control of structures and machines, ranging from the derivation of models up to the control synthesis problem. This point of view is particularly useful as the physical insight and the associated structural properties, related e.g. to the Lagrangian or Hamiltonian framework, can be advantageously utilized. To this end, up to date results in disciplines like continuum mechanics, analytical mechanics, thermodynamics and electrodynamics are presented exploiting the differential geometric properties, with the basic notions of this coordinate-free approach revisited in an own chapter. In order to illustrate the proposed methodologies, several industrial applications, e.g., the derivation of exact solutions for the deformation compensation by shaped actuation in elastic bodies, or the coordination of rigid and flexible joint robots, are discussed.
Book Synopsis River Basin Modelling for Flood Risk Mitigation by : Donald Knight
Download or read book River Basin Modelling for Flood Risk Mitigation written by Donald Knight and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2005-11-17 with total page 626 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Flooding accounts for one-third of natural disasters worldwide and for over half the deaths which occur as a result of natural disasters. As the frequency and volume of flooding increases, as a result of climate change, there is a new urgency amongst researchers and professionals working in flood risk management. River Basin Modelling for Flood Risk Mitigation brings together thirty edited papers by leading experts who gathered for the European Union’s Advanced Study Course at the University of Birmingham, UK. The scope of the course ranged from issues concerning the protection of life, to river restoration and wetland management. A variety of topics is covered in the book including climate change, hydro-informatics, hydro-meterology, river flow forecasting systems and dam-break modelling. The approach is broad, but integrated, providing an attractive and informative package that will satisfy researchers and professionals, while offering a sound introduction to students in Engineering and Geography.

Book Synopsis A Critical History of New Music in China by : Liu Chingchih
Download or read book A Critical History of New Music in China written by Liu Chingchih and published by The Chinese University of Hong Kong Press. This book was released on 2010-07-20 with total page 960 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By the end of the nineteenth century, after a long period during which the weakness of China became ever more obvious, intellectuals began to go abroad for new ideas. What emerged was a musical genre that Liu Chingchih terms "New Music." With no direct ties to traditional Chinese music, New Music reflects the compositional techniques and musical idioms of eighteenth, nineteenth and early twentieth–century European styles. Liu traces the genesis and development of New Music throughout the twentieth century, deftly examining the cultural, social, and political forces that shaped New Music and its uses by politicians and the government.
