With over three million tickets set to be sold for the matches, the Rugby World Cup will be viewed in over 207 territories worldwide. However, for all the fanfare of the third biggest sporting event in the world (after the Olympics and FIFA World Cup), it is astonishing that, until now, there has been no single reference book in the marketplace that contains all the rugby internationals, in chronological order, played by the world's major rugby nations since the game's inception. Keith Young has spent six years compiling such a compendium to fill this gap in the market and has undertaken a colossal amount of research in the process. The Complete Rugby Union Compendium contains over 5,200 entries, organized in such a way that details of all matches can beeasily accessed by the reader. It is laid out in a visually engaging and informative format and will be invaluable to every dedicated rugby enthusiast.
Download or read book Mongolia Today written by Shirin Akiner and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-10-13 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1991 Mongolia Today presents a collection of essays by leading scholars in the field and gives important insights into the economic, political, legal and military systems of Mongolia. The Mongolian People's Republic, formerly known as ‘Outer Mongolia’, is three times the size of France but has population of just two million. Sandwiched between Russia and China, this remote heartland of Asia has long been one of the most inaccessible places in the world, its isolation preserved by political as well as geographical barriers. The modern history of Mongolia has been dominated by its two great neighbours: strong economic and political ties with the erstwhile Soviet Union and problematic relations with China. Relations with the West have been slow to develop. Post-cold war, Mongolia is willing to explore new relationships with other parts of the world and transform this once isolated land into a trading partner of international potential. This is an essential read for scholars and researchers of Central Asian studies, Asian politics, and Chinese studies.

Download or read book Education in Asia written by Jee-Peng Tan and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 1992-01-01 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Data analyzed in this study are drawn from varied sources including documents provided by governments in the context of the World Bank's operational activity. The data on a basic set of indicators were assembled for a core of 11 Asian countries (Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Thailand). Data for other Asian countries are also presented when available. After an overview, chapter 2 highlights the main features of education in Asia in an international and regional perspective. Chapter 3 provides more detailed documentation of education costs and financing arrangements in Asian countries, focusing on such items as the pattern and level of unit costs across levels of education, the distribution of public spending, and the contribution of private financing. Efficiency and equity are addressed in chapters 4 and 5. Chapter 6 offers conclusions based on the cross-sectional analysis and makes suggestions for future work. The study concludes that the two most essential components of an effective education policy are greater attention to primary education and reduced public financing of higher education. Interspersed within the text are 49 tables and 36 figures. The appendices contain an additional 32 tables and the following: (1) a succinct description and comparative evaluation of the current status of education in individual Asian countries; (2) details on data sources and the corresponding core educational statistics; and (3) figures and miscellaneous data referred to in the text. (Contains 137 references.) (MLF)

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This classic work chronicles how New York, London, and Tokyo became command centers for the global economy and in the process underwent a series of massive and parallel changes. What distinguishes Sassen's theoretical framework is the emphasis on the formation of cross-border dynamics through which these cities and the growing number of other global cities begin to form strategic transnational networks. All the core data in this new edition have been updated, while the preface and epilogue discuss the relevant trends in globalization since the book originally came out in 1991.
