Book excerpt: Excerpt from 2001-2002, Legislative Commissions: Non-Standing Committees and Interim Studies Because of the budgetary constraints facing State Government during this last year, the interim study commission committee device has not been as active as during normal times. For example, the Legislative Research Commission (LRC), the General Assembly's umbrella study vehicle, normally coordinates the studies of upwards of 90 subjects during an interim. The LRC has not, as of this date, directed the undertaking of any of the studies that were authorized by the 2001 Session of the General Assembly. This document contains lists of all permanent legislative commissions and non-standing committees and all studies authorized or directed to be undertaken by the 2001 General Assembly. The listing includes not only studies undertaken by legislative bodies, but also those directed to be undertaken by other agencies of State government. Permanent commissions, committees, and other bodies of the executive and judicial branches are not included in this publication.
