Book Synopsis On Klauder's Path: A Field Trip by : Gerard Gustav Emch
Download or read book On Klauder's Path: A Field Trip written by Gerard Gustav Emch and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1994-04-27 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains contributions by friends, colleagues and associates of John R Klauder on the occasion of his 60th birthday.Klauder's scientific work embraces vast territories from quantum theories to general relativity, optics and chaotic dynamics. A recurrent theme in his research is the role played by coherent states, in particular, in connection with path integral formulations of quantization. Perhaps at a less lofty level, this concept has had at least two spectacular applications: as a powerful investigative tool in quantum optics and as a precursor to wavelets. In a different vein, Klauder also attacked specific, non-renormalizable but exactly soluble, hard-core models in field theory, where he uncovered what has since been called the Klauder phenomenon. The contributors to this volume represent the special brand of mathematicians and physicists John Klauder helped define throughout his seminal career in the industrial and academic worlds.

Book excerpt: Excerpt from Guidebook for Field Trips in Western Massachusetts, Northern Connecticut and Adjacent Areas of New York: October 10, 11 and 12, 1975 This field trip is designed to illustrate some of the rock types and structural features present in Precambrian terranes between Bear Mountain, New York and the Housatonic Highlands in western Connecticut (fig. As indicated on Figure 1, exposures in the Hudson Highlands (reading Prong), New Milford Massif, Bear Hill Massif, and the Housatonic Highlands will be visited. Basal Paleozoic rocks, the Poughquag Quartzite and Lowerre Quartzite, in contact with Precambrian gneisses are present at Stops 3, 4, 5, and 6 (fig. 1) and it is interesting to compare the eastern more feldspathic and per - aluminous Lowerre facies to the western clean quartzite and arkosic Poughquag facies. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: HauptbeschreibungField trips are a popular method for introducing students to concepts, ideas, and experiences that cannot be provided in a classroom environment. This is particularly true for trans-disciplinary areas of teaching and learning, such as science or environmental education. While field trips are generally viewed by educators as beneficial to teaching and learning, and by students as a cherished alternative to classroom instruction, educational research paints a more complex picture. At a time when school systems demand proof of the educational value of field trips, large gaps ofte.
