Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 75th Anniversary of the Transistor 75th anniversary commemorative volume reflecting the transistor's development since inception to current state of the art 75th Anniversary of the Transistor is a commemorative anniversary volume to celebrate the invention of the transistor. The anniversary volume was conceived by the IEEE Electron Devices Society (EDS) to provide comprehensive yet compact coverage of the historical perspectives underlying the invention of the transistor and its subsequent evolution into a multitude of integration and manufacturing technologies and applications. The book reflects the transistor's development since inception to the current state of the art that continues to enable scaling to very large-scale integrated circuits of higher functionality and speed. The stages in this evolution covered are in chronological order to reflect historical developments. Narratives and experiences are provided by a select number of venerated industry and academic leaders, and retired veterans, of the semiconductor industry. 75th Anniversary of the Transistor highlights: Historical perspectives of the state-of-the-art pre-solid-state-transistor world (pre-1947) leading to the invention of the transistor Invention of the bipolar junction transistor (BJT) and analytical formulations by Shockley (1948) and their impact on the semiconductor industry Large scale integration, Moore's Law (1965) and transistor scaling (1974), and MOS/LSI, including flash memories — SRAMs, DRAMs (1963), and the Toshiba NAND flash memory (1989) Image sensors (1986), including charge-coupled devices, and related microsensor applications With comprehensive yet succinct and accessible coverage of one of the cornerstones of modern technology, 75th Anniversary of the Transistor is an essential reference for engineers, researchers, and undergraduate students looking for historical perspective from leaders in the field.

Download or read book Molecular Sensors and Nanodevices written by John X. J. Zhang and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2018-11-19 with total page 606 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Molecular Sensors and Nanodevices: Principles, Designs and Applications in Biomedical Engineering, Second Edition is designed to be used as a foundational text, aimed at graduates, advanced undergraduates, early-career engineers and clinicians. The book presents the essential principles of molecular sensors, including theories, fabrication techniques and reviews. In addition, important devices and recently, highly-cited research outcomes are also cited. This differentiates the book from other titles on the market whose primary focus is more research-oriented and aimed at more of a niche market. - Covers the fundamental principles of device engineering and molecular sensing, sensor theories and applications in biomedical science and engineering - Introduces nano/micro fabrication techniques, including MEMS, bioMEMS, microTAS and nanomaterials science that are essential in the miniaturization of versatile molecular sensors - Explores applications of nanomaterials and biomaterials, including proteins, DNAs, nanoparticles, quantum dots, nanotubes/wires and graphene in biomedicine

Book Synopsis Design, Simulation and Applications of Inductors and Transformers for Si RF ICs by : Ali M. Niknejad
Download or read book Design, Simulation and Applications of Inductors and Transformers for Si RF ICs written by Ali M. Niknejad and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-12-15 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The modern wireless communication industry has put great demands on circuit designers for smaller, cheaper transceivers in the gigahertz frequency range. One tool which has assisted designers in satisfying these requirements is the use of on-chip inductiveelements (inductors and transformers) in silicon (Si) radio-frequency (RF) integrated circuits (ICs). These elements allow greatly improved levels of performance in Si monolithic low-noise amplifiers, power amplifiers, up-conversion and down-conversion mixers and local oscillators. Inductors can be used to improve the intermodulation distortion performance and noise figure of small-signal amplifiers and mixers. In addition, the gain of amplifier stages can be enhanced and the realization of low-cost on-chip local oscillators with good phase noise characteristics is made feasible. In order to reap these benefits, it is essential that the IC designer be able to predict and optimize the characteristics of on-chip inductiveelements. Accurate knowledge of inductance values, quality factor (Q) and the influence of ad- cent elements (on-chip proximity effects) and substrate losses is essential. In this book the analysis, modeling and application of on-chip inductive elements is considered. Using analyses based on Maxwells equations, an accurate and efficient technique is developed to model these elements over a wide frequency range. Energy loss to the conductive substrate is modeled through several mechanisms, including electrically induced displacement and conductive c- rents and by magnetically induced eddy currents. These techniques have been compiled in a user-friendly software tool ASITIC (Analysis and Simulation of Inductors and Transformers for Integrated Circuits).
