Book Synopsis Mathematical Mindsets by : Jo Boaler
Download or read book Mathematical Mindsets written by Jo Boaler and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-10-12 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Banish math anxiety and give students of all ages a clear roadmap to success Mathematical Mindsets provides practical strategies and activities to help teachers and parents show all children, even those who are convinced that they are bad at math, that they can enjoy and succeed in math. Jo Boaler—Stanford researcher, professor of math education, and expert on math learning—has studied why students don't like math and often fail in math classes. She's followed thousands of students through middle and high schools to study how they learn and to find the most effective ways to unleash the math potential in all students. There is a clear gap between what research has shown to work in teaching math and what happens in schools and at home. This book bridges that gap by turning research findings into practical activities and advice. Boaler translates Carol Dweck's concept of 'mindset' into math teaching and parenting strategies, showing how students can go from self-doubt to strong self-confidence, which is so important to math learning. Boaler reveals the steps that must be taken by schools and parents to improve math education for all. Mathematical Mindsets: Explains how the brain processes mathematics learning Reveals how to turn mistakes and struggles into valuable learning experiences Provides examples of rich mathematical activities to replace rote learning Explains ways to give students a positive math mindset Gives examples of how assessment and grading policies need to change to support real understanding Scores of students hate and fear math, so they end up leaving school without an understanding of basic mathematical concepts. Their evasion and departure hinders math-related pathways and STEM career opportunities. Research has shown very clear methods to change this phenomena, but the information has been confined to research journals—until now. Mathematical Mindsets provides a proven, practical roadmap to mathematics success for any student at any age.

Book Synopsis Global Mathematics and Mathematics Olympiad Graded Assessment Test with Competition: Mathematics - Assessment Outline, Sample Paper, Marking Scheme by : Mathewmatician
Download or read book Global Mathematics and Mathematics Olympiad Graded Assessment Test with Competition: Mathematics - Assessment Outline, Sample Paper, Marking Scheme written by Mathewmatician and published by Mathewmatician. This book was released on with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Global Mathematics and Mathematics Olympiad Graded Assessment Test” consists of separate assessments for the Mathematics and Mathematics Olympiad. Currently, there are 16 levels, with each level corresponding to a grade. Similar to music exams, there is no age restriction for participating in each level of assessment. Furthermore, we do not require participants to achieve a passing grade or above in previous levels or to have participated in previous level assessments, to participate in subsequent levels. “Global Mathematics and Mathematics Olympiad Graded Assessment Test” offers physical and online tests. The transcript and certificate will indicate the exam mode, whether it was taken physically or online, for reference. Participants of a certain age will participate in the "Global Mathematics and Mathematical Olympiad Graded Competition" simultaneously with the "Global Mathematics and Mathematical Olympiad Graded Assessment Test". The following are our visions. 1. To enable individuals with high mathematical aptitude to learn advanced mathematics and Olympiad mathematics more quickly, accelerating human progress and benefiting humanity. 2. In the future, academic qualifications will not be divided; instead, recruitment standards in the workplace will be based on grades obtained in various subjects and their levels from public assessments. 3. People with weaker mathematical abilities should spend the same amount of time mastering basic mathematics. Once they reach the level required for their chosen profession or further studies, they can stop, rather than forcing themselves to study mathematics in higher grades. 4. By utilizing public assessments, we can reduce the workload of teachers, thereby reducing the future demand for mathematics teachers. This allows talented individuals who are capable of dedicating themselves to mathematics education to contribute to an ever-expanding reservoir of mathematical knowledge, facilitating the continuous development of the mathematical field.

Book Synopsis Antituberculosis Drugs by : Karl Bartmann
Download or read book Antituberculosis Drugs written by Karl Bartmann and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-07 with total page 590 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume deals specifically with those antituberculosis drugs which passed the preclinical phase and have been or are used in the treatment of tuberculosis and other mycobacterial diseases (except leprosy) in at least some parts of the world. Despite this restriction, there are 14 such drugs, and as a result this volume has reached rather large proportions. To prevent it from becoming even larger and more unwidely, most derivatives of antituberculotics have been omitted, especially where it is claimed that they provide only better bioavailibility or tolerability. Only in the chapter on the chemotherapy of diseases due to so-called atypical mycobacteria is the clinical use of the drugs described to a certain extent. In addition to antituberculotics, also discussed are antimicrobials which have been found to be effective against these mycobacteria. The sequence in which the drugs are described is historical, reflecting not the time of discovery but rather the first clinical application. This order was selected for reasons which are now no longer relevant. In this volume less emphasis is placed on detection, biological or synthetic production of antituberculotics, and structure-activity relationships. In contrast, emphasis is put on the degree, type, and mechanism of antimyco bacterial activity, pharmacokinetics, and biotransformation in animals and man, on experimental pharmacodynamics, and on the toxicity of antituberculotics used therapeutically.
