A preliminary estimate of the total Canadian-origin Chinook salmon run was 45,501 fish. The preliminary estimate of fall chum salmon spawning escapement in the Canadian mainstem Yukon River was approximately 23,512 fish, which was below the IMEG range of 70,000–104,000 fish. The JTC recommended a new escapement goal for Canadian-origin Yukon River Chinook salmon of 52,500 with an acceptable deviation range of 42,500–62,500. The Yukon River Panel will be presented with the new Chinook salmon escapement goal recommendation for consideration at their 2022 pre-season meeting.
