Book excerpt: Winner of the 2015 International Book Awards New Age: Non-Fiction Category Finalist in the 10th Annual National Indie Excellence Awards for New Age Non-Fiction Category Fed up with living life as an opinion of someone else? Throughout this book, readers will discover themselves, or at least what or who they aren’t. There’s no point in having spiritual answers if we can’t stand ourselves, as we layer most things into our guilt and shame cycle, which we seem to like so much. Self-hatred is evident in many of us, from overeating to starvation; seeking and never finding that true love, leaving a trail of broken lives—our own included—shows us we are really seeking ourselves. Never really knowing why that would be, we ventured into the heart of the matter, literally: self-love. Where is it, what is it, and how come we don’t have it? The reader is invited to discover how to reveal the power of love within and share it with others by the world’s foremost authority—God. The dialogue between God and the book’s authors provides insights into some of life’s biggest questions and the human condition, not just on a personal level, but also on a global scale. Through these inspiring messages, this book exposes spiritual truths, while providing solutions that can be incorporated into the daily practice of everyday living, to bring a greater sense of peace and awareness to the reader. Front cover: photo by Jeanette Bishop (Isle of Skye, Scotland) Back cover: photo by Helen Varga (Cranberry Creek Gardens, Lynedoch, Ontario, Canada) BlueInk Review “While the authors’ basic premise (direct communication with a supreme being) may not be palatable to everyone, their suggestions could offer a way back into spirituality for sincere seekers . . . . “ ForeWord Clarion Reviews “Bishop and Varga have created a jovial and generous guidebook for self-care. The book’s largest sections, which focus on loving oneself and healing via that love, offer a blueprint for this reorientation. Trading between practical advice and recalled, meditative conversations with the Spirit, the authors act as creative spiritual gurus.” Kirkus Indie Review “ . . . there are sound pieces of advice to be gleaned from these pages, even by readers with diff erent beliefs.”

It provides a non-US-centric introduction to gender studies, covering topics like 19th-century African, Chinese, and Arab movements, and foregrounds Black and Indigenous feminisms. Several case studies—the Aztecs and the Spanish, Agriculture and Gender, Beauty and Authority, Racial Stereotypes, and US Voting Rights—reveal how the interconnected architecture of privilege and oppression affects issues like globalization, media, and the environment. Feminist theories about race, sexuality, class, disabilities, and more culminate in step-by-step instructions for applying intersectionality and practicing activism. Rich with 19 diverse first-person voices, it brings feminism to life and lives to feminism.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the Book Despite the words on the cover, the pages in no way are a type of a self-help rehabilitation guide, informative in any way, nor will you gain knowledge in any way. Instead, if you have ever been diagnosed with ADHD (or not and just went through undetected, as there are more out there than you think), there is absolutely no structure. Author Patrick Miele often changes direction in mid-thought, and there are no chapters more than about three pages long. If you get a "I never thought of that," "Yeah, he's right on there," “I hate it when that happens," or just a chuckle, then his intentions of The Who-Man Chronicles have been achieved. The entire memoire was written during a two-year off-and-on stint in drug/alcohol rehabilitation inpatient treatment programs. This was supposed to be his journal/notebook during sessions but he strayed a bit. Two years later these pages were compiled. As a people "observer," Patrick is intrigued by human behavior and some of the idiosyncrasies of society and these rehabs were an observer's utopia. If you don't comprehend the concept of "random" thoughts, you will by the time you finish reading these pages. About the Author Patrick Miele was a high school physical education/English teacher in the town of Westford, MA, for 26 years. He coached baseball, wrestling, golf, and volleyball during that time and bartended in various place all over Massachusetts. He ran summer camps and clinics as a form of fundraising for his school. Some of his demons and a major back surgery forced him to early retirement. He was a workaholic so when he early retired lull time was his worst enemy. As a result he really hit the bottle and his physical pain caused him to give up golfing and a Manchester, NH, baseball team he played for. Drinking got heavier with all his spare time and living alone after a recent divorce, which is why he ended up in the rehabs. Patrick currently lives in Worcester, MA. He takes an annual golf trip to the mountains of Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire with a dozen of his friends from old baseball/softball teams. His family is from Billerica, MA; he has two sisters, Eva and Betty, and a brother, Bruce. He has a daughter, Amanda, 22 years old, who lives in Bridgewater, MA. Patrick went to Worcester State College, received a degree in English and Physical Education, and played baseball and started his bartending journey mistake, sticking with it for almost 40 years, but now he would be like a kid working a candy counter.

Book excerpt: He's killed six. Kate has a plan to stop him... if she's willing to be number seven. I haven’t been murdered before. I have been killed. But that was an accident, a moment of carelessness, a split-second lapse of concentration that changed us forever. The tragedy is my sister has to live with the consequences. The irony, is so do I. Later, I was left down a mine, and died more than once before finding my way out. That was different. Those responsible knew what they were doing, relying on nature to take its course. That was murderous intent. But I’ve never been murdered. This is different.

Book excerpt: Rebecca Eckler shows women everywhere that while they're busy offering not-so-casual advice and reprimands to the men in their life, they've lost sight of an important fact: they're not dating a boyfriend, they're raising a boyfriend. He wandered away from the checkout, leaving her to cope with an overflowing shopping car. He dashed in front of her to cross a busy intersection without so much as a backwards glance. He forgot — forgot! — to meet her at the airport after a trip. And then an inescapable truth settled in: Rebecca Eckler already had a six-year-old daughter, so what was she doing with a boyfriend who was even worse behaved? There were only two options. Dump the sucker and concentrate on raising her child. Or raise her boyfriend, too. From making introductions, to offering compliments, to saying you're sorry, boyfriends need to be raised with the same lessons we use on our kids. As Rebecca writes, "If I can raise a child — a smart, kind and polite one — surely I can raise a boyfriend, too."

Book excerpt: This is the complete trilogy of Rebecca Jones' story, titles included are: His Campaign, The Summer Lull, and Her Classroom. He's the Man She's Never Forgotten Rebecca Jones and Jon Whitaker were childhood sweethearts — since the day she ran his campaign for president in the sixth grade. He was destined for politics, and Rebecca was going to be there to support his campaign. And then one day, she overheard what he really thought of her, and she fled. Now Rebecca is a professor of political science, and she's caught in a web of politics around freedom of speech, the Idaho legislature and a law banning critical race theory. Not that the legislature actually knows what CRT is, she gripes to her best friends on Friday night. Jon Whitaker is running for the Republican governor nomination. And he's got a problem. A big one. His father and uncle urge him to reunite with the girl he once scorned as bright, but not pretty enough for him. But Rebecca Jones has grown up. She isn't interested in his family's games. And Jon can't blame her. But she still might be just what he needs — even if she's considered the most liberal professor on campus. But what does Rebeca need? She doesn't know, but she's pretty sure it isn't the man who broke her heart and left her with panic attacks at a man's touch. His campaign. Her classroom. How love find a way through all of that to bring an HEA to two people so polar opposite? Maybe with a little help from Rebecca's friends. For her, they'll even pitch in to solve the problems a conservative politician brings to their world. (Anonymously. Dear God, says one. Don't let anyone know I helped you.) This is the complete trilogy for Rebecca Jones and Jon Whitaker, part of a romantic suspense series set in a small college town in Idaho. Four women friends have each other's backs, no matter what life throws at them. In this slow-burn, contemporary western romance series, each woman gets her HEAs, but oh, the convoluted path love can take to get there! (Be prepared for language, triggers, and politics.)
