I am yearning for the mightiest move of the Holy Spirit, in my life, the Church, and throughout the world. I pray that the word of God will pierce my heart like a hammer, fire, and sword, awakening me to greater works and quickening me for God's higher calling in Christ Jesus. I feel like I am lacking in my spiritual life and don't have enough of God's power to do mighty exploits. This has left me feeling empty and in need of more of God. When I compare my contributions to the Body of Christ with what is expected of me, I realize that I am bankrupt and nowhere to be found. I think there are some moves of God in my days in some lives and gatherings. However, there remains a dissatisfaction within me regarding the spiritual reality, status, and stature of the general assembly of the Body of Christ. It would be irresponsible of me to simply criticize and blame others without offering productive solutions. After all, what good has come from finger-pointing and blaming others? The fire of Hell is not saying enough of the casualties that are trooping into its eternal damnation. The grave is not saying enough of the Christless populace it welcomes regularly. The womb of wickedness is not saying enough of the unscriptural inventions it is conceiving and bringing forth. I cannot afford to be grossly irresponsible. I must be freshly baptized with the fire of God. I must carry the power of the Holy Spirit without measure for the global Kingdom assignment. I must trust the Lord that in His mercies, He would use me to bring down revival which will be growing stronger in all generations until Rapture. Out of this necessity and my spiritual emptiness, the Holy Spirit inspired me to write songs of revival. It's in the nature of the Holy Spirit to use the weak and foolish things of this world to shame the strong and wise. That's why He chose to use me to write Revival Songs, Volume 2. All glory goes to Him! Each of the songs in this book has a unique tune. Some of the tunes were newly inspired by Him, while others were already existing tunes used to convey the message of His revival. In such cases, we indicate "To the tune of." We send out this book through the power of the Holy Spirit, and we pray that wherever these songs are sung, the Lord will bring about His mightiest revival. We ask this in Jesus' Name. Amen! Use my nothingness To start fire of revival, Use my nothingness To spread your holy fire.

Book excerpt: What is the soundtrack for a nuclear war? During the Cold War, over 500 songs were written about nuclear weapons, fear of the Soviet Union, civil defense, bomb shelters, McCarthyism, uranium mining, the space race, espionage, the Berlin Wall, and glasnost. This music uncovers aspects of these world-changing events that documentaries and history books cannot. In Atomic Tunes, Tim and Joanna Smolko explore everything from the serious to the comical, the morbid to the crude, showing the widespread concern among musicians coping with the effect of communism on American society and the threat of a nuclear conflict of global proportions. Atomic Tunes presents a musical history of the Cold War, analyzing the songs that capture the fear of those who lived under the shadow of Stalin, Sputnik, mushroom clouds, and missiles.

Book excerpt: What does it mean for music to be considered local in contemporary Christian communities, and who shapes this meaning? Through what musical processes have religious beliefs and practices once ‘foreign’ become ‘indigenous’? How does using indigenous musical practices aid in the growth of local Christian religious practices and beliefs? How are musical constructions of the local intertwined with regional, national or transnational religious influences and cosmopolitanisms? Making Congregational Music Local in Christian Communities Worldwide explores the ways that congregational music-making is integral to how communities around the world understand what it means to be ‘local’ and ‘Christian’. Showing how locality is produced, negotiated, and performed through music-making, this book draws on case studies from every continent that integrate insights from anthropology, ethnomusicology, cultural geography, mission studies, and practical theology. Four sections explore a central aspect of the production of locality through congregational music-making, addressing the role of historical trends, cultural and political power, diverging values, and translocal influences in defining what it means to be ‘local’ and ‘Christian’. This book contends that examining musical processes of localization can lead scholars to new understandings of the meaning and power of Christian belief and practice.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What links the popular songs "You'll Never Walk Alone", "Send in the Clowns", "Memory" and "I Am What I Am"? They all originated in Broadway musicals. Song of the Season is for those who believe that the score is at the heart of a musical and is the essential building block on which the rest of a show is built. Through a systematic historical survey from 1891 to 2023 it argues that the best musicals survive because of their songs, from early 20th century classics such as Show Boat and Oklahoma! through to the contemporary sound of Dear Evan Hansen and Hamilton. looking at outstanding songs from each Broadway season, the development and history of the musical is illustrated with a fresh perspective. As song styles and popular music tastes changed throughout the decades this structure charts the progress of American showtunes alongside popular music forms as songs evolved from the waltz and ragtime to jazz, rock, rap and hip-hop. Factual analysis and historical context combine to offer a rich picture of the American songbook from Irving Berlin to Elton John. Song of the Season paints a fresh picture for musical theatre students and fans alike, illustrating significant changes in the form through the music. Analyzed in an accessible and engaging way that doesn't rely on music theory knowledge, and including a link to playlist where all the 'songs of the seasons' can be listened to, it is a must-have for those looking to expand their knowledge of the form and trace the social history of the American showtune.
