Book excerpt: Preface It is not just because i have children and i have concerns for their safety and welfare, but the fact of the matter is you may have children too. Actually we are all children of this wonder filled Creation who inhabit this Awe Inspiring Planet we call Earth. When i think in terms of World Healing World Peace, like most of us there is much about us that needs our attention, adjustment and resolution. I like most of us could sit and complain the remainder of our lives away about all that is wrong. The predominant aspect of what i would like to ultimately transfer in the way of energy to every on i can, is that we have the ability to effectuate the changes we desire. We have the power to reconcile our existence to that of our Dreams of Utopia. "Our World" is inherently one of abundance and i believe there is enough for all of us to coexist in a peaceful, loving manner. For too long we have allowed the few to control the many. This would include most of our institutions from Religion, Politics, Education, Business, Food, Medicine, Media and Finance. Our desires for "Things" along with the rampant Greed we witness has gone just about as far as we should allow. However, in order to make the much needed equitable adjustments for parity, we must first examine and correct the archaic consciousness' we hold to unwittingly. The depth of our indoctrination fed to us by the controlling class is a tangled web filled with deceits and ulterior motives and agendas that do not serve the masses of people who have need for such basic things as Drinking Water, Food, Medical Attention and the lack of War and Strife. Many may ask, "How can we achieve this end?" . . . well, i have always been told that "every journey begins with the first step." Many have already taken that initial step, while some are waiting for the right motivation. We have chosen the medium of Poetry and Prose to relay our messages from around the world. In this our second effort to evoke a higher level of participatory consciousness we hope that you find the words that moves you to care enough to be moved to a certifiable action that contributes to the good of us all. Our aspiration here with this effort of World Healing World Peace Poetry 2014, is not only to just produce a book, but to distribute the book and get it into the hands of our World's Policymakers. Read Checkmate: a poetry book written to shed light on the shadow of humankind and bring to the forefront what hides in the dark. Although it is clear as day that our world is being destroyed by the greed of man, a solution to this predicament we have not. This is because the answer to this intricate puzzle lies in a place where most don't look: hidden in plain sight it is being ridiculed and labelled a 'conspiracy theory'. Yes we humans are indeed very much controlled and trained to turn a blind eye to all of the lies of our current Era. We keep voting new puppets onto the world stage while we root for our illusion of choice, as our limited choices are narrowed down to bad or worse. Well this ends here. This unfair live chess game that is being played on our human race will finally be brought to justice.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ForewordIt has been said that words are sacred...that everything in our existence is created by words. "In the beginning...was the Word". Words are one of our few renewable constants. Words carry energy, words can move emotions, and words bring light. This adventure in words was originally inspired by a project dedicated to the memory of those who were affected by the events surrounding the 9/11 tragedy in New York City, and evolved into the book that you are now holding in your hands. For the 11 Words...9 Lines anthology, the challenge was to use our most powerful words to write poems consisting of only 9 lines and 11 words, in any pattern. There were no limits placed on the topics that poets could write about, so they were free to create from their hearts. Everyone was invited to contribute their words for this project, from seasoned poets to those who had never written a poem before. Poets shared their offerings from around the world to make this anthology one of the year's most diverse literary collections. We hope that the impact of each poem will allow you to see into each poet's world, while giving you the chance to see how the use of a few words can paint an entire landscape, tell a whole story, and leave you completely satisfied...so, enjoy!Inner light...chosenbeingsloving...forgiving...changing...shifting...renewing...Chasing darknessWynne Y. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PrefaceThe inspiration for a global anthology of this content lies in the heart-driven observations of the contributors. World's preventable ills are evident. A united look at the pain and sufferings of the innocent against the backlash of available solutions blocked by those in power was a sufficient reason for us to feel motivated to collectively appeal to our readership. We knew that we had to stand up and be counted when our joint conviction was concerned: to help combat at least some of the tribulations that are inflicted upon the powerless by countless men / women, driven by the greed for money and hatred toward everyone who is different. As for the genre of focus, poetry has been known for ages to enable that which seems impossible for those trapped in silence for one reason or another: a voice. The plea voiced in this publication for you, dear reader, is simple: world peace. In order to achieve peace on a global scale, however, the process of healing must materialize across the world. Addressing the ills is a start, in addition to being a vital step. Hence, some poems in this volume bring such efforts to your attention. Others only speak of the post-healing state of an individual or a group of people. Unanimously, though, each poet's work in this volume aims to come to terms with the dilemmas and struggles that affect humanity at large. It is that noble intent which brought a large number of writers together for and through this poetry compilation. The world regions from and the languages with which an excess of 120 poets arrived at this destination constitute a vast number. Their insights into and contemplations on the critical importance of world healing, world peace entered this publication - either in translations or in the contributors' original tongues -from Greece, India, China, Poland, Slovakia, South Africa, Indonesia, Kosova, Pakistan, former Yugoslavia, Portugal, the Republic of Mauritius, Jamaica, Australia, Kurdistan, Mexico, Bangladesh, Taiwan, Nigeria, Canada, Egypt, Romania, Nepal, Bosnia, Azerbaijan, Tunisia, Palestine, Algeria, Iraq, the Philippines, the Kingdom of Bhutan, Turkey, Morocco, Croatia, Algiers, Uruguay, Syria, Jordan, Chile, Peru, the U.K. and the U.S.A.The rigid linguistic demands native speakers of English make on non-natives can be utterly restrictive to literary voices across the world that have much to add to our minds' expansion, but to our overall enrichment as individuals as well. A considerable number of the contributors speak several languages, on which we have neither jurisdiction nor first-hand knowledge. Yet, we, in the English-speaking regions of the globe, have the tendency to dictate the non-native speakers and writers of our target language how to speak and write. Furthermore, the pressure we place on them reaches a point of forcing them to think how we do. Instead of honoring the wealth of insights they offer us, either in translation or through their unique ways of expression using English, we are quick to judge the surface differences. Poetic creativity, however, does not work thus. If you are an English-only speaker, our collection of poems will demand from you to expand your comfort zone. For, none of the authorial messages has been edited for content. Our decision was, as it always is with our international anthologies, to honor and preserve the authentic voices of the contributing poets. Therefore, only minor changes were made in specific terms of mechanical rules, as widely expected in the U.S.A. So, we invite you to take delight in the diverse formulations of the poetic art and the multiple voices of genuine concern for an all-inclusive humanity, while you take note of the unique beauty in the distinctive verse-paintings that enabled this anthology. You will not be disappointed. hülya n. yılmaz Ph.D., Liberal Arts EmeritaThe Pennsylvania State University

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Peace begins with us! When the world is at its most threatening and uncertainty reigns, it comforts us to know that mindful living is still within our grasp. Peace in Our Hearts, Peace in the World helps us come to a full and deep understanding of our own thoughts, actions, limitations, and strengths--and the effect they have on the world at large. Ruth Fishel serves as our wonderfully effective guide through this year-long journey of introspection, reflection, and resolution. Her daily encouragement to appreciate the most basic things in life--waking up, brushing our teeth, the breaths we take--alternate with thoughts on relationships, choice, and personal responsibility. A thought-provoking quote accompanies each meditation: Fishel draws these wise words from sources old and new, ranging from Buddhism to new spiritual writings by Eckhart Tolle, Christina Feldman, and Deepak Chopra. Small enough to travel with, and beautifully designed, this book makes inspirational reading available anytime, anywhere. Readers will find its comforting presence a constant reminder of the maxim that drives this motivational collection: if there is peace in our hearts, there may indeed one day be peace in the world.

Book excerpt: Quest for Eternal Sunshine chronicles the triumphant, true story of Mendek Rubin, a brilliant inventor who overcame both the trauma of the Holocaust and decades of unrelenting depression to live a life of deep peace and boundless joy. Born into a Hassidic Jewish family in Poland in 1924, Mendek grew up surrounded by extreme anti-Semitism. Armed with an ingenious mind, he survived three horrific years in Nazi slave-labor concentration camps while virtually his entire family was murdered in Auschwitz. After arriving in America in 1946—despite having no money or professional skills—his inventions helped revolutionize both the jewelry and packaged-salad industries. Remarkably, Mendek also applied his ingenuity to his own psyche, developing innovative ways to heal his heart and end his emotional suffering. After Mendek died in 2012, his daughter, Myra Goodman, found an unfinished manuscript in which he’d revealed the intimate details of his healing journey. Quest for Eternal Sunshine—the extraordinary result of a posthumous father-daughter collaboration—tells Mendek’s whole story and is filled with eye-opening revelations, effective self-healing techniques, and profound wisdom that have the power to transform the way we live our lives. An inspirational biography of a Holocaust survivor overcoming depression and PTSD. An essential new addition to Jewish Holocaust history.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sex and World Peace is a groundbreaking demonstration that the security of women is a vital factor in the occurrence of conflict and war, unsettling a wide range of assumptions in political and security discourse. Harnessing an immense amount of data, it relates microlevel violence against women and macrolevel state peacefulness across global settings. The authors find that the treatment of women informs human interaction at all levels of society. They call attention to the adverse effects on state security of sex-based inequities such as sex ratios favoring males, the practice of polygamy, and lax enforcement of national laws protecting women. Their research challenges conventional definitions of security and democracy and common understandings of the causes of world events. The book considers a range of ways to remedy these injustices, including top-down and bottom-up approaches to redressing violence against women and the lack of sex parity in decision-making. Advocating a state responsibility to protect women, the authors campaign against women’s systemic insecurity, which threatens the security of all. Sex and World Peace has been a go-to book for instructors, advocates, and policy makers since its publication in 2012. Since then, there have been major changes in world affairs, including the #MeToo movement, as well as advances in both theoretical and empirical literature surrounding the subject. This second edition, which adds coauthors Rose McDermott and Donna Lee Bowen alongside Valerie M. Hudson and Mary Caprioli, revises and updates the book for a new generation. The book retains its foundational overview of the relationship between women’s oppression and war, enhanced by fresh data and new material covering recent developments for global women’s rights and analysis of additional examples of gender and conflict throughout the world.

Book excerpt: PrefaceAll of the short stories and most of the poems included in this volume have been published before, mostly online, though the majority of the stories will have appeared in print in various journals and anthologies by the time you read this. When I first started writing stories, and poems shortly after-wards, back in 2009, the last thing on my mind was getting anything published. It was something I did for fun, and found pleasure in. I was not until late 2010 when I had over a hundred stories and poems that the idea of getting anything published even occurred to me. Although since then, I've been published in various journals and anthologies, this is the first book of my own. I only found out about Inner Child Enterprises after entering their World Peace, World Poetry 2012 contest, but I'm grateful for the discovery, and for the support of Bill and Janet at the organization.Perhaps far more importantly than the pleasure of holding my own book in my hands is the people I've met on this writing journey. The people who have written me expressing how much they've been moved by my words. The people who have sent notes asking if it was alright to send one of my poems to their loved ones, because they could identify so closely with the words. My only hope is that this book finds you equally moved, and let my words be my gift, from me to you.Alan W. JankowskiJune 12, 2012.

Book excerpt: PrefaceIn reading The Poetry, Prose, Prayers and Stories, and being a contributor myself to this, Healing Through Words Anthology, I soon realized the Power of Words. Their ability to heal is very real. The Power attached to every syllable expels pain, offers a common ground and comfort. The words shared have the ability to change our world, when we embrace and allow. In some passages, the contributing Authors employed a cathartic perspective for release of our common challenges. In other passages Blessings and / or Prayers for Peace are offered. Throughout the pages of this Beautiful Book, there is a healing word or words for everyone. In our humanity I pray that we share them. I have personally spoken to some of these Authors and I know where their heart is. Their common language is that of Love, delivered to mankind on a Cosmic and Human level, by offering healing and the knowing that we are not alone. Wherever you reside in this world and throughout All Society, we have come together to offer these words of power to you. In today's world, there is an abundant clearing of pain / darkness from our consciousness, as we ready ourselves for enlightened days. We have been shaking off the old and allowing the new. Within these pages, I see that more and more. The pieces in this book have been selected, so that you too may know, that you are not alone. You are a significant part of this Global Community, and we have come together, with shared experiences through poetry, prayers and stories, to acknowledge that we are One.Namaste'Janet P. Caldwell

Book excerpt: Preface Dear Family and Friends, As we come to the close of the year of 2015, i would like to express my gratefulness for every member of The Poetry Posse. We are one month away from concluding our second year in this effort, The Year of the Poet. Over the past 23 months, we have featured many Poets from our Global Poetry Family, and shared them with you. We are looking forward to continue in this process of the offering of our Verse. You may or may not be aware that the cost of this effort is fully underwritten by Inner Child Press. (www.innerchildpress.com). On another important note, we are also currently in the process of taking in submissions for the World Healing, World Peace Anthology. This project has been active since 2011, and the upcoming 2016 publication will be our 3rd installment where Poets from all over the world contribute their voices pertaining their thoughts, feelings and insights. The Anthology will be published in April of 2016 to coordinate with what we call International Poetry Month. Words are powerful instruments that have a greater potential for change than many other efforts we may mobilize. The general consensus amongst most people i speak to these current days all voice a concern and a need for change in how we as humans integrate with each other. There are many challenges within the fabric of humanity that upset the balance and affront the potential of what life can possibly be. Learning to coexist seems at times to be a daunting task. I am so honored to be amongst such wonderful poetic souls who contribute their thoughtful words to that end . . . World Healing, World Peace. Thank you all for the love. Bless Up Bill
