Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Countless winters have passed and the collections of elements emerge. ELEMENTS OF WINTER'S CHILL is more than a collection of poems. It's an expression of the soul and how the environment climate contributes to that. In the author's eyes, winter represented the mind and the elements represent the different parts of his personalities. The author wanted to capture the emotions that he has in his favorite season. Unlike most individuals, winter is the worst season to experience. Climate conditions are hazardous to our health and nature dies. To the author, winter is necessary for survival. It teaches us that we must be able to survive conditions beyond our control to become stronger. Winter is necessary because it brings love ones closer together; it causes body temperatures to drop thus causing the heart to warm our souls. ELEMENTS OF WINTER'S CHILL is separated into three climate conditions: SNOW, FROST & ICE. The author wanted to bring these elements to life. Using each element to present its views on the challenges in life metaphorically, creating visual images into the readers' mind. In order for these experiences to be shared with society, the author had to face these challenges first hand.

Book Synopsis Remnants of a Scottish Childhood by : William F. Davidson
Download or read book Remnants of a Scottish Childhood written by William F. Davidson and published by Outskirts Press. This book was released on 2014-07-18 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: William Davidson first began his study of poetry in the early nineties, fascinated by the variety of verse forms and techniques that lend themselves to poetic expression. As a member of Ramapough Poets of Rockland County, he found that this group of dedicated writers helped pave the way for his understanding and love of all things poetic. In Remnants of a Scottish Childhood—a unique collection of clear-sighted, genuine poems—Davidson uses a variety of forms, including a dash of Scottish dialect, which is where his natural inclinations and poetic sentiments dwell. His poems reflect his youthful memories growing up in Scotland. They are filled with love, fear, disillusionment, class distinction, and a sense of wonderment that the world apart from Scotland held a place in its heart for him—and they reflect the essence of the Davidson Clan motto: Sapienter Si Sincere—“Wisely If Sincerely.”
