Download or read book Your Chance of a Lifetime written by Kent D. Ellis and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2024-07-23 with total page 65 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Where did man come from? Why is he here? Where is he going? Throughout the pages of Your Chance of a Lifetime, biblical quotes and other historical writings of inspired men and women are present, and we are provided clear direction and answers to these questions. Life on earth is an opportunity to gain knowledge, learn the difference between right and wrong, make choices, and develop an eternal soul worthy of various levels of eternal life. The King James Bible records in John 14:2, "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." Based on decisions made in life, the size, location, and neighborhood of this eternal mansion will be determined. A few very unrighteous souls will be cast into outer darkness to live with Satan and his angels forever. Eternal life has many glories. In writings to the Corinthian saints, Paul taught the doctrine that in death, man will be resurrected to different glories based on obedience to Christ's teaching. First Corinthians 15:40-42 reads: There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 41: There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. 42. So also is the resurrection of the dead. Where will you live in eternity, and who will be your neighbors? Please email [email protected] with any questions, comments or enquiries

Book Synopsis A Season of Loss, a Lifetime of Forgiveness by : John Manasso
Download or read book A Season of Loss, a Lifetime of Forgiveness written by John Manasso and published by ECW Press. This book was released on 2005-11-04 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This narrative about two boys from different backgrounds touches on family, forgiveness, sport, and making peace with tragedy. Dan Snyder was not a sure thing in professional hockey, but defied expectations—playing for both the minor league's Chicago Wolves and the NHL's Atlanta Thrashers. Dany Heatley, on the other hand, had been tapped for success from the start as a college star and high draft pick. The two made an unlikely pair, but became friends. In September of 2003, the then 22-year-old Heatley lost control of his speeding Ferrari; Snyder was thrown from the vehicle and died six days later. The loss of their teammate, friend, and son sent those who knew Snyder looking for healing or revenge. As the legal story unfolds, so too does a story of forgiveness, rooted in the Canadian Mennonite tradition from which Snyder hailed. Snyder's family, taking an approach to their loss dictated by their faith, chose to make peace with both Heatley and his parents. This story of forgiveness reveals a lesson in loss, hope, and peace in the face of tragedy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After receiving a classical Chinese primary and a bilingual secondary education in his father's school Rayson Huang entered the University of Hong Kong in 1938. The forty-eight years thereafter, except for two short intervals, were spent in studying, teaching, research, and/or administration in universities in Hong Kong, China, Britain, the United States, Singapore and Malaysia. The first of the two intervals, of about a year, came as a result of the fall of Hong Kong to the Japanese in late 1941 when he moved, as a refugee, into Free China and after a spell of school teaching started his career in a university in Kweilin. The second interval, lasting some six months, was spent making his way by land, air, and sea via Chungking the war-time capital in China's hinterland, and India, to England to take up a scholarship awarded him by the Rhodes Trust at Oxford. The last seventeen years of his working life were taken up serving as vice-chancellor of Nanyang University, the controversial Chinese university in Singapore, and of Hong Kong University. This autobiography records Rayson Huang's diverse university experience of a half century. It also gives an account of the siege of Hong Kong and life in war-torn China and of two bodies on which he later served: the Legislative Council in Hong Kong and Beijing's Drafting Committee which formulated a Basic Law for the territory after its return to China in 1997.

Book excerpt: The inspirational true story of a high school football coach who motivates and encourages ordinary kids to do extraordinary things on and off the field He’s called simply “Coach.” But Louie Cook of Notre Dame High School in Crowley, Louisiana, is much more than that. He’s a father figure to his players, regardless of their race, ethnicity, or religion; the mentor players can turn to for discerning advice; the man students and parents go to for comfort in challenging times; and most of all, a caring leader with a servant’s heart. Coach of a Lifetime: The Story of Lewis Cook Jr., Legendary High School Football Coach recounts the inspiring, selfless path Cook has traveled as a football coach and, more importantly, as a leader in a small Louisiana town. While other high school coaches have won more games and sent more players to the NFL, none have proven better at developing the raw talents of high school kids from a handful of farming communities and turning them into champions on the football field and in life. The story of Louie Cook is about much more than football. It’s about developing and motivating young people, about putting faith and family ahead of wins and losses, and about building relationships that will last a lifetime. Cook may be one of the winningest high school coaches in the nation, but he will be the first to tell you, “Winning isn’t everything; winning the right way is.”
