Book excerpt: Ten-year-old Ryan Wolf has a secret: he is the protector of the Eigenoids, a group of creatures tinier than dust particles who live in a box given to Ryan by his grandfather. The Eigenoids use their magic to shrink Ryan down to their size in order to help him learn about the world around him. During a baseball game, Ryan gets a splinter in his finger. After hearing about how his grandfather lost part of a finger due to an infection from a splinter, Ryan worries that the same thing will happen to him. In order to help, the Eigenoids transform him into a white blood cell so that they can confront the infamous Stephano, the staphylococcus aureus bacterium. Together they travel back in time to when Ryan had the splinter and go inside his body. There they learn about white lymph cells, phagocytes (who make up the White Ops), and bacteria, and they meet Charlie T, the White Duke of Cytes, and Big B-Cell. As Ryan realizes that his adventures with the Eigenoids have real consequences, he must learn to believe in himself and find the first cryton for the spell to save the Eigenoids. In this science fiction novel for middle readers, a boy journeys with a group of tiny magical beings within his body to learn and to save himself and his friends.
Download or read book The Sign written by Stephen G. Jarrard and published by LifeRich Publishing. This book was released on 2020-10-31 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This novel is more fact than fiction. It is kind of a hybrid genre for which my wife has coined the term “faction”. “The Sign” answers the all-important question that many people in this world are asking. Two days before Jesus went to the cross, four of the apostles asked Him three questions found in Matthew 24:3: “When shall these things be and WHAT shall be THE SIGN of your coming and of the end of the age?” In “The Sign”, the author attempts to answer the second question. In more than forty years of biblical studies, his research led him to a conclusion that was totally surprising. Mr. Jarrard’s prayer is that the readers of this book will be compelled to take the contents to heart and research the issues for themselves. We need to be like the Bereans (Acts 17:11). What will you do when you understand “The Sign”? The author prays that you will follow John Meskwa Anang’s answer. God bless you all.

Book excerpt: At last, a book that puts ad creative in its proper place to drive brand success. Ad-itude empowers and advises advertisers and agencies to leverage the data to unleash creative power, impact brand performance, and out market the competition. Written by Peter Daboll, one of the leading minds in ad creative measurement, Ad-itude discusses how using data effectively throughout every stage of the creative process produces ads that consumers choose to view from beginning to end, rather than ignore. Daboll draws from his vast experience, exploring lessons learned throughout advertising history to present day, identifying obsolete rules that wrongly guide many marketers, while warning against modern-day modeling pitfalls. Ad-itude shows the difference between testing and guessing, and why experimentation is always better than relying on assumptions that lure marketers into dangerous ROI traps. Daboll’s logical recommendations for an iterative versus sequential approach to measuring creative effectiveness guarantees maximum impact for any ad or campaign.

Book Synopsis The Battle of Berlin by : Martin W. Bowman
Download or read book The Battle of Berlin written by Martin W. Bowman and published by Air World. This book was released on 2020-05-30 with total page 749 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A fascinating look into the aircrews used and the effect on those who had to live through this constant bombing” by the RAF during World War II (UK Historian). Berlin was bombed by four Allied air forces between 1940 and 1945. British bombers alone dropped 45,517 tons of bombs, while the Americans a further 23,000 tons. By 1944, some 1.2 million people, 790,000 of them women and children, about a quarter of Berlin’s population, had been evacuated to rural areas. An effort was made to evacuate all children from Berlin, but this was defeated by parents and many evacuees who soon made their way back to the city. However, by May 1945, 1.7 million people—40% of the population—had fled the city. This fitting tribute to those who died in the relentless struggle to knock Berlin, and hopefully Germany, out of the war resonates with eyewitness accounts and background information which the author has painstakingly investigated and researched. The result is a hugely fascinating and highly readable narrative containing very real and unique observations by British and Commonwealth aircrew and, equally importantly, the long-suffering citizens of Berlin, and well as the capital’s defenders. Though not a defeat in absolute terms, in the operational sense The Battle of Berlin was an offensive that Air Marshal Sir Arthur Harris and his aircrews could not win. “Berlin won” concluded Sir Ralph Cochrane, the Air Officer Commanding 5 Group RAF Bomber Command. “It was just too tough a nut.” “An impressively informative, deftly written, exceptionally well documented, and expertly organized history . . . a seminal work of original scholarship.” —Midwest Book Review
Book Synopsis Beyond Redistribution by : Kevin Graham
Download or read book Beyond Redistribution written by Kevin Graham and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2011 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kevin M. Graham argues that political philosophy cannot fully understand race-related injustice without shifting its focus away from distributive inequities between whites and nonwhites and toward white supremacy, the unfair power relationships that allow whites to dominate and oppress nonwhites. Graham's analysis of the racial politics of police violence and public education in Omaha, Nebraska, vividly illustrates why the pursuit of racial justice in the United States must move beyond redistribution.
Book Synopsis Black Ops Advertising by : Mara Einstein
Download or read book Black Ops Advertising written by Mara Einstein and published by OR Books. This book was released on 2016-09-01 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Facebook to Talking Points Memo to the New York Times, often what looks like fact-based journalism is not. It’s advertising. Not only are ads indistinguishable from reporting, the Internet we rely on for news, opinions and even impartial sales content is now the ultimate corporate tool. Reader beware: content without a corporate sponsor lurking behind it is rare indeed. Black Ops Advertising dissects this rapid rise of “sponsored content,” a strategy whereby advertisers have become publishers and publishers create advertising—all under the guise of unbiased information. Covert selling, mostly in the form of native advertising and content marketing, has so blurred the lines between editorial content and marketing message that it is next to impossible to tell real news from paid endorsements. In the 21st century, instead of telling us to buy, buy, BUY, marketers “engage” with us so that we share, share, SHARE—the ultimate subtle sell. Why should this concern us? Because personal data, personal relationships, and our very identities are being repackaged in pursuit of corporate profits. Because tracking and manipulation of data make “likes” and tweets and followers the currency of importance, rather than scientific achievement or artistic talent or information the electorate needs to fully function in a democracy. And because we are being manipulated to spend time with technology, to interact with “friends,” to always be on, even when it is to our physical and mental detriment.
Book Synopsis Dying for the Truth by : Paul Moorcraft
Download or read book Dying for the Truth written by Paul Moorcraft and published by Pen and Sword. This book was released on 2016-11-30 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The role of war correspondents is crucial to democracy and the publics discovery of the truth. Without them, the temptation to manipulate events with propaganda would be irresistible to politicians of all hues. It starts by examining how journalists have plied their trade over the years most particularly from the Crimean War onwards. Their impact on the conduct of war has been profound and the author, an experienced journalist, explains in his frank and readable manner how this influence has shaped the actions of politicians and military commanders. By the same token the media is a potentially valuable tool to those in authority and this two-way relationship is examined. Technical developments and 24 hour news have inevitably changed the nature of war reporting and their political masters ignore this at their peril and the author examines the key milestones on this road. Using his own and others experiences in recent conflicts, be they Korea, Falklands, Balkans, Iraq or Afghanistan, the author opens the readers eyes to an aspect of warfare that is all too often overlooked but can be crucial to the outcome. The publics attitude to the day-to-day conduct of war is becoming ever more significant and this fascinating book examines why.
