Book Synopsis Collections & Recollections by : Donna Snethun
Download or read book Collections & Recollections written by Donna Snethun and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2015-06-26 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My raison dtre. This is a book of my memoirs, but it is more than that. It goes back in time to include stories I have heard since childhood about my forefathers (and mothers). I am grateful that the writing bug has been so strong in the Falla family. I look on whatever writing abilities I have as a gift. To me, it is more than a hobbyits a passion! The histories that were written by Uncle Art Falla in the history books of Kinsella and District (Hoofprints and Homesteading) and of Sedgewick and District (Sedgewick Sentinel) were invaluable in my writing of this book. Picking the brains of family memberssisters, cousins, and Aunt Thordis Taylor have been of enormous assistance. While our memories of any particular incident may not be exactly the same, the sharing and the jogging has made the memories I have come alive. In 2005, my original book Collections & Recollections: 1st edition was printed. It is a book of memoirs. I have received wonderful feedback on that book and hope that you enjoy this book as much as did the readers of Collections & Recollections: 1st edition. I have lived too interesting a life to not leave this legacy. It seemed only right to include stories about my childrens paternal ancestors, the Snethuns and the Sathers. After having been married to Andy Snethun for fifty-five years, in many ways, these families seem like my family. I hope you enjoy following the unique lives of several generations of these pioneer families. I have really tried to write only stories that very few of my readers will be able to say, That happened to me too. Scattered throughout my memoirs, you will find poetry, all of which are my originals. Sometimes I write poetry like I talknot knowing when to quit! I write poetry as long as the thoughts keep coming. (I try to control myself when I talk so I dont do the same).

Book Synopsis The Girls' Guide to Love and Supper Clubs by : Dana Bate
Download or read book The Girls' Guide to Love and Supper Clubs written by Dana Bate and published by Hachette Books. This book was released on 2013-02-05 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hannah Sugarman seems to have it all. She works for an influential think tank in Washington, D.C., lives in a swanky apartment with her high-achieving boyfriend, and is poised for an academic career just like her parents. The only problem is that Hannah doesn't want any of it. What she wants is much simpler; to cook. When her relationship collapses, Hannah seizes the chance to do what she's always loved and launches an underground supper club out of her new landlord's town house. Though her delicious dishes become the talk of the town, her secret venture is highly problematic, given that it is not, technically speaking, legal. She also conveniently forgets to tell her landlord she has been using his place while he is out of town. On top of that, Hannah faces various romantic prospects that leave her guessing and confused, parents who don't support cooking as a career, and her own fears of taking a risk and charting her own path. A charming romantic comedy, The Girls' Guide to Love and Supper Clubs is a story about finding yourself, fulfilling your dreams, and falling in love along the way.

Download or read book Vinnie's Diner written by Jennifer Allee and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2015-04-07 with total page 331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Something big and black crashes against the windshield, and an explosion rocks the car. Turn into the skid! I see a flash and something in front of me. Something tall with black material flapping around it like the tail ends of an old-fashioned duster. Long, straw-colored hair. A scraggily goatee. A man? What's a man doing at the side of the road in the middle of nowhere? Why's he just standing there? Why doesn't he get out of the way? I yank the wheel back the other way, and the car swerves around him. And heads straight off the road. When the world stops bouncing and the car settles, I try to keep my eyes focused, but everything blurs around the edges. The waves ebb, and I hear a crunching sound, like boots on gravel. Straining to see, I barely make out . . . What is that? A flag? No, it's that flapping black material. I think it's the man I swerved to miss. A sweet, melodious voice makes its way through the undulating roar in my ears. “Let me help you.” Help. Yes, I need help.
Download or read book Defining Work written by Muriel Mellow and published by McGill-Queen's Press - MQUP. This book was released on 2014-06-22 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Based on interviews with forty rural Protestant clergy, Muriel Mellow offers a study of how gender and work intersect among the rural clergy. In Defining Work she argues that male and female clergy challenge gendered definitions of work by focusing on obligation, context, visibility, and time. She also considers how clergy's work is shaped by the rural setting, arguing that we must consider how work is "placed" as well as gendered." --Résumé de l'éditeur.
