Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Anger... Resentment... Guilt... Pain... For millions of people, not every prison comes with a set of bars. That's because at some point, no matter who you are, regardless of your race, creed, religion or even gender, everyone has suffered at the hands of another person. You are not alone. The question is whether this wrong happened two minutes or twenty years ago, whether this person is living or dead, why are you still allowing yourself to suffer because of it? Why is this pain still being allowed to destroy the very relationships that you have with your friends, family, God and even yourself? There is help, but are you ready to accept it? In this ground breaking study of the power of forgiveness, R.A. Clark, an award-winning educator and life coach, challenges not only what you thought that you knew about forgiveness, but also questions the heavy emotional price that you are willing to pay to live without it. In a world where it is hard to love and there is so much to hate, finally somebody will tell the truth about the lies that we tell ourselves about forgiveness. Including... - Why you should never forgive and forget? - When is the right time to forgive anyone for anything? - Why your "silence" maybe slowly destroying your family? - The only biblical way that there is to forgive anyone. - Also, discover just who is the one person that you should always forgive, even when your heart tells you not to. Prepare yourself. This book is the first step in a remarkable journey to help you to become the spouse, parent, and/or friend that you were truly meant to be; the one person that many people wish they were and others only pretend to be.

Book excerpt: Ian Stott was born in Moseley, Birmingham, in 1946 and became a travelling evangelist in 1986, with his Gospel band After the Fall, performing in prisons, remand homes, pubs, clubs, church halls, carnivals, fetes, festivals, handicapped homes and colleges all around the United Kingdom. After writing Touching Glory as the title song for the 1994 Cross Rhythms Festival in Devon, Ian and the band received a record distribution deal with Kingsway Music. He wrote the songs for two more albums, and the band continued its evangelistic work for eleven years. Ian has studied Bible Prophecy for thirty years and is now a full-time musician, working as a tribute act in the UK and worldwide. He has had songs and poems published during this period. After the Fall, the band, played their last show in 1997 on stage at Dudley Castle, Birmingham, live on Sky TV. Ian Stott is a layman, representing every man and brings a refreshing perspective to apologetics, with a dash of humour. He has a desire to reach people who know nothing about the Bible or what it contains. This book is a direct reply to militant atheism and The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. Atheism is growing and making much noise and needs a Christian answer. The author brings everything together in one place with amazing clarity and startling revelation the evidence for God, the weakness of the argument for atheism and evolution, secret societies, Bible prophecy and the deception, misinformation and corruption of the shadow governments and leading players of this world. The world needs information that is intelligible to the man in the street, who only ever hears one side of the argument. The God Solution contains that information.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How familiar are you with the concept of keeping score? Seems like a silly question since most are very aware of scores that are kept, especially when they involve us. Would you also say that it's accurate to indicate that we are a people who appreciate fairness, exercised toward ourselves and others? It should go without saying that fairness is very important to all of us. There are many areas in this physical life where keeping score to ensure fairness would be abundantly evident. For example, a score is kept during a baseball game, or a basketball game, or a football game. Why? To fairly determine which team ultimately wins the game. In addition, a very accurate time clock is utilized to declare the winner of a race, whether it involves automobiles, swimmers, or those who are running on a track. These simple examples, and many others, should strike a familiar chord with us. Since we are flesh and blood human beings, the physical world is important to our lives. We can only deal with the things that can be seen and touched and heard and smelled and tasted. That is the world we live in, the world where our familiarity rests. However, we need to understand that we are limited by the physical world, the things we experience on a physical plane. This is the case because there is another world surrounding us that deserves even more of our attention. The most critical realm for each of us is the spiritual world, and it does surround us even though we may not always be aware of it. What I want to consider through this study is the fact that God is also keeping score. It seems obvious that there are many times when we feel cheated in this physical realm, that we have not been treated fairly. But when it comes to the spiritual realm, no one will ever be cheated or treated unfairly. And this can only occur because God is keeping score. As we shall see through the pages of this book, in a very real sense, God is the ultimate scorekeeper!

Book excerpt: All men face some degree of temptation or discontentment. Here is your guide to get you past frustration into freedom. We live in a culture where 55% of married men and 70% of single men look at porn at least once a month and over half of all marriages end in divorce. To understand why that is we have to look beyond the battle to the root of both the problem and the solution... Most books for men on how to defeat lust and improve their relationships with the women in their lives preach a plan for trying harder, thinking better, and battering their behavior into submission. The problem with this approach: no matter how strong we are today, the battle continues tomorrow, and nothing ever seems to change in the long run. In Beyond the Battle, author and pastor Noah Filipiak shows you why symptom-based behavior management approaches offer short-term solutions. Instead, he unpacks the keys to a gospel-centered, long-term victory, helping you win the war against temptation and entitlement. Beyond the Battle is an accessible, effective, man-to-man resource for individual or small group use that will guide you toward freedom from sexual temptations by connecting you more deeply to Jesus—to his sacrifice and sufficiency. Filipiak addresses deep questions of marriage, singleness, and sexual temptation like: What's really the worst enemy in a man's marriage? How are my assumptions about my wife contributing to the problem? How does a corrected understanding of God's grace change my outlook on marriage or singleness? This book turns typical "purity" strategies on their head by addressing head-on our sense of self-entitlement and our self-seeking tendencies, showing how to look to God—instead of to women—for intimacy, approval, acceptance, and validation. Includes free access to 7-week small group video curriculum plus an option 40-day devotional.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When He came to earth, Jesus Christ was rejected in every quarter in which He stepped. The Creator was rejected by His own creation. “He came to His own and His own received Him not,” said John. For this reason, Jesus Christ had “no where to lay His head.” There was one exception, however. A little village just outside of Jerusalem named Bethany. Bethany was the only place on earth where Jesus was completely received. God’s Favorite Place on Earth is a retelling of Jesus’ many visits to Bethany and a relaying of the message it holds for us today. Frank Viola presents a beautifully crafted narrative from the viewpoint of Lazarus, one of the people who lived in Bethany with his two sisters. This incomparable story not only brings the Gospel narratives to life, but it addresses the struggle against doubt, discouragement, fear, guilt, rejection, and spiritual apathy that challenges countless Christians today. In profoundly moving prose, God’s Favorite Place on Earth will captivate your heart with its beauty, charm, and depth. In this book you will discover how to live as a “Bethany” in our world today, being set free to love and follow Jesus like never before.

However, the main character of the book is the Triune God. Moreover, some have suggested that the book of Job focuses on the larger problem of evil in a good God’s world. By definition that would include the concept of victimhood. However, Dr. Jim Halla thinks that approach misses major issues in the book. The Book of Job: God’s Faithfulness in Troubled Times presents Dr. Halla’s understanding of the book under four major headings: God’s sovereignty, suffering, suspicion, and success. Job began well but faltered. He considered himself alone, deafening silence from God, and his relationship with God in shambles. God took him to the zoo and the sea and Job learned well: he repented and God placed him in the position of intercessor for his friends. He functioned as a type of Christ but he was not Christ. He came to embrace those two truths. The book of Job is for all believers in all seasons no matter their spiritual maturity. As you read The Book of Job: God’s Faithfulness in Troubled Times, see if you catch a glimpse of Job’s radical reversal.

Through the course of the book, Grant both figuratively—and literally—jumps off of a cliff to move forward in his life, while encouraging us to do the same. Mingling personal stories with quotations from famous authors and the Bible, itself, Grant brings to light the choices we all face on a daily basis. Whether the choices are big or small, he helps to point out that God is at work in each and every one of them. At the same time, he helps us to realize that it is our big choices — and chances — which reveal God's will for our lives. With a well-researched blend of stories from pop culture, as well as ancient scripture, Grant leads us down an easy-to-read path asking us to listen to the still, small voice, God's gentle whisper, which can lead us to hidden blessings. He reminds us that God is not only in the miracles which appear on the news, but also in the small miracles we experience every day.

Book excerpt: Both Maggie Fortini and her brother, Joey-Mick, were named for baseball great Joe DiMaggio. Unlike Joey-Mick, Maggie doesn’t play baseball—but at almost ten years old, she is a dyed-in-the-wool fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers. Maggie can recite all the players’ statistics and understands the subtleties of the game. Unfortunately, Jim Maine is a Giants fan, but it’s Jim who teaches Maggie the fine art of scoring a baseball game. Not only can she revisit every play of every inning, but by keeping score she feels she’s more than just a fan: she’s helping her team. Jim is drafted into the army and sent to Korea, and although Maggie writes to him often, his silence is just one of a string of disappointments—being a Brooklyn Dodgers fan in the early 1950s meant season after season of near misses and year after year of dashed hopes. But Maggie goes on trying to help the Dodgers, and when she finds out that Jim needs help, too, she’s determined to provide it. Against a background of major league baseball and the Korean War on the home front, Maggie looks for, and finds, a way to make a difference. Even those readers who think they don’t care about baseball will be drawn into the world of the true and ardent fan. Linda Sue Park’s captivating story will, of course, delight those who are already keeping score.
