Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rabbit loves to take walks with the people in her life. In this story, Rabbit the Dog takes six different types of walks. On each walk she shares the best things about each walk and concerns she has. And, to be honest, Rabbit can be a little bit lazy so you will also hear how Rabbit asks, "Are we there yet?" In this naptime/early reader story, Rabbit the Dog explores many of her senses during each walk. What does she feel, smell, hear, and see? (She does not taste anything, but smell is very similar.) The child(ren) who is hearing this story should also reflect on some of their favorite walks and what they remember most about those adventures. The memories will most likely be very pleasant. And, the child(ren) will also relate in a comical way to Rabbit either wanting to have the walk end because she is ready to stop walking, or maybe Rabbit wants someone to carry her because she likes being held. We have identified legitimate research papers and gleaned the lessons learned from each one. Thus, this story promotes phonetic awareness, builds vocabulary, and is useful as a transition from picture book to early reader. It also facilitated educational discussions as noted above. And, finally, it is written and illustrated in such a way that it should not be annoying and tiresome to read several times. (As an added bonus it is also a short story so that you can get the child down for a nap quickly.)

Book excerpt: A transformative collection of essays on the power of walking to connect with ourselves, each other, and nature itself. In 2010, Jonathon Stalls and his blue-heeler husky mix began their 242-day walk across the United States, depending upon each other and the kindness of strangers along the way. In this collection of essays, Stalls explores walking as waking up: how a cross-country journey through the family farms of West Virginia, the deep freedom of Nevada’s High desert, and everywhere in between unlocked connections to his deepest aches and dreams--and opened new avenues for renewal, connection, and change. While most of us won’t walk or roll across the country, the deep wisdom and insights that Stalls receives from the people, land, and animals he meets on his pilgrimage have profound impacts for each of us. He shares how walking deepened his relationship to himself as a gay man, offering deep and clarifying emotional medicine. He confronts the systemic racism, classism, and ableism that shape and reshape the communities he walks through. And he invites readers to become awakened activists, to begin healing our culture’s profound separation from the natural world. WALK is for those who crave to feel and embody, not just know and study, their way through complex themes that live in each chapter: vulnerability, human dignity, presence, mystery, and resistance. With dedicated practices--like connecting to Earth stewardship, moving into vulnerability, and walking and rolling with intention--Stalls’ WALK is an urgent and glorious call to slow down, look around, and engage with the world in front of us. It awakens us to what we miss when we’re driving by, flying over, and rushing past what surrounds us. It’s an invitation to move, to connect, to participate deeply in the world--and to dissolve the barriers that disconnect us from each other and the living Earth.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This extraordinary story of courage and faith is based on the actual experiences of three girls who fled from the repressive life of Moore River Native Settlement, following along the rabbit-proof fence back to their homelands. Assimilationist policy dictated that these girls be taken from their kin and their homes in order to be made white. Settlement life was unbearable with its chains and padlocks, barred windows, hard cold beds, and horrible food. Solitary confinement was doled out as regular punishment. The girls were not even allowed to speak their language. Of all the journeys made since white people set foot on Australian soil, the journey made by these girls born of Aboriginal mothers and white fathers speaks something to everyone.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Once my viewpoint becomes their viewpoint my personal perspective of the situation changes. The stories in Dear Caregiver: Take a Moment and Walk with Me are based on my personal experiences with Katherine, a woman in her seventies, who lives with the physical and mental disabilities caused by Lewy Body Dementia. During a five-year time period as her caregiver, I recorded each treasured moment within twenty-four hours after each event occurred. Katherines words and expressions remain fresh in my mind despite the passing of the years. As a new, part-time caregiver for my mother who was diagnosed with Alzheimers nearly three years ago, Take a Moment and Walk with Me is a true blessing and inspiration. This book of devotions is an excellent guide for anyone who is taking this journey for the first time. These devotions have made my heart lighter as I start each day wondering what special moment God will bless me with my mother, instead of facing each day with a heavy heart. -Selena Freeland- Memories! This book will touch your heart and soul! As a past and current caregiver, these memories bring back so many of my memories! Currently, I am taking care of my dad in his journey through Parkinsons and Dementia. This book has uplifted me to find a special memory every day of this journey. Knowing there is A Bible verse out there to highlight each memory is such a blessing. I encourage all caregivers to let this book lift you up before, during or after your journey. Let these words and Bible verses give you peace, encouragement, and strength. -Janet Sisko- My mom has lived with us for 14 years and her mind has been failing her for the past three. As I read Karens devotional, I first realized how every day is written so well that you feel like you are right there with them. Many situations are very similar to what I face with my mom. I am so amazed at how compassionate Karen is and how she has such a sense of how Katherine thinks and feels. She also gives caregivers practical ways to assist and care for our loved ones. This devotional is very helpful and inspirational for any caregiver and the Bible verses give us a glimpse of God in any situation. -Linda Corner-

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kids love colorful characters and rhyming stories. This book has both. I would like to introduce you to the Bunny Book series. This book series chronicles the life of Bunny Rabbit. With books titled Bunny Is Born, Bunny Learns to Walk, Bunny Learns to Talk, Bunny Learns to Use the Potty, Bunny Goes to School, Bunny Learns to Read, Bunny Learns to Share, and many more. Each book outlines basic learning skills such as numbers, letters, the importance of continuing to try something until you get it right, practicing something to get better at it, the importance of sharing, etc. The bunny books are unique in that they have colorful characters and flowing rhymes like many other books, but unlike other books, these also teach valuable early development skills and introductions to fundamental behavior skills. When I tell my son how to do something, I sometimes tell him, "Remember? When we have to go potty, we stop and go." Just like his favorite cartoon character. He then looks at me with excitement that he gets to be just like one of his favorite morning show characters. The same would be true of Bunny.
