Book Synopsis Fondazioni, Associazioni, Terzo Settore e il Volontariato by : Natale Palomba
Download or read book Fondazioni, Associazioni, Terzo Settore e il Volontariato written by Natale Palomba and published by CAVINATO EDITORE INTERNATIO. This book was released on 2017-11-19 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Active Ageing written by Andrea Principi and published by Policy Press. This book was released on 2014 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Active ageing" has become a key phrase in the discourses about healthy aging processes, and one important way that it has been achieved in Europe is through the engagement of older people in volunteer work. Active Ageing offers a much-needed compendium of research on volunteerism among seniors. Ranging across eight European countries, the contributors highlight how different levels in the structure of volunteering--from local to national--interact, and how these interactions either facilitate or hinder seniors' inclusion in voluntary work. They go on to offer policy suggestions for a more integrated strategy that can better support this unique group of volunteer workers.
Book Synopsis Privatization in Four European Countries by : Ralph M. Kramer
Download or read book Privatization in Four European Countries written by Ralph M. Kramer and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-07-04 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book has a dual focus: on how four countries use voluntary non-profit organizations to provide services to the physically, mentally, and sensorially handicapped; and on the changing role of the voluntary, or "third," sector in welfare states. At the same time, it is also a comparative study of privatization in the special sense of using nongovernmental organizations to implement public policy. Most comparative studies of the welfare state have neglected this form of "indirect public administration" because researchers have usually conceived of government as monolithic and consequently overlook the frequent separation of financing from the delivery of public services.

Book Synopsis Gender, Social Care and Welfare State Restructuring in Europe by : Jane Lewis
Download or read book Gender, Social Care and Welfare State Restructuring in Europe written by Jane Lewis and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-12-20 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Published in 1998. Social provision in all European countries has faced increasing scrutiny during the 1990s. Focusing on gendered aspects of welfare state restructuring, each contributor examines the way in which the welfare state of his or her country has been restructed over the past decade, concentrating on services for elderly people and for children. Each chapter outlines the shifts in the mixed economy of welfare and describes the degree to which there has been greater decentralization moves towards a different style of public management or the introduction of market principles. The changes in the provision of services for elderly people and children is described for the same period. Finally, women's position as paid providers of services, as unpaid carers and as recipients of services is analyzed. This book investigates the idea that the move towards "marketization" in many countries is having a disproportionately detrimental effect on women whose leverage on the market tends to be weak.
Book Synopsis Day Nurseries & Childcare in Europe, 1800–1939 by : Dorena Caroli
Download or read book Day Nurseries & Childcare in Europe, 1800–1939 written by Dorena Caroli and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-10-31 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book traces the birth and evolution of the crèche in France, England, Germany, Russia and Italy from the mid-nineteenth century to the eve of the Second World War, in an attempt to understand from a transnational viewpoint the history of an institution for very young children that was very different from what we know today. These institutions had the two-fold goal of combatting the two phenomena that had for centuries characterised the history of infancy – infant mortality and the abandonment of babies. Drawing on a wealth of printed sources and in the light of the most recent and authoritative historical investigations, Dorena Caroli discusses the origins of the first crèche, established in Paris in 1844 by Firmin Marbeau, going on to compare and contrast the reception of the French model of care and assistance for babies and infants in a number of different European countries – England, Germany, Russia and Italy. This book fills a significant lacuna in the studies of infant history and the educational institutions designed for infants, providing a clear and broad picture not only of the practices followed but also of the evolution of “puericulture” and medical theories about very young children held in Europe in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It represents not only a valuable contribution to the history of these institutions but also a useful manual for students in the field of infant care.
