Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a world reminiscent of the whimsy in Peter Pan and the magical intricacies of Alice in Wonderland, JQ Sirls unveils Vladimir Victorious. Lucy Brown's world transforms when she is adopted by billionaire James Washington, the owner of the enchanting yet eerie Washington Manor. For the first time, she feels a sense of belonging, and her vivid imagination finds a playground amid the ancient walls echoing with whimsical whispers of Fantoria-the cradle of imagination and the birthplace of imaginary friends. But darkness lurks as Lucy uncovers a staggering truth: James is the displaced King Vladimir Victorious of Fantoria, dethroned by the traitor known only as Heartless, who traded his own heart for dark magic. The sinister coup left James split in two-a rapidly aging man in the human world and his youthful, magical self trapped in Fantoria. With Heartless severing the magical link between the worlds, Lucy's mysterious key might be the only hope to restore the rightful king and rekindle the magic that fuels Fantoria. Venturing into Fantoria, Lucy seeks the youthful Vladimir to unite against the malevolent Heartless. Together, they must reclaim the throne, reunite the fragmented king, and mend the severed bond between the worlds. Amidst peril, they will discover that the true journey of the heart is forging the bonds that guide us back home. From JQ Sirls comes a mesmerizing tale where destiny intertwines with dreams, shadows conceal secrets, and the magic of imagination reigns supreme.

Book excerpt: This book is a revisionist account of Samuel’s State and the legendary struggle between Samuel Cometopoulos and Basil II (10th-11th century). It goes beyond the standard approach to the study of state formation, presenting an entirely new analytical framework which interrogates how contemporaries in the Balkans at different times, ranging from the Byzantine and Balkan elites of the medieval centuries to later voices in the early modern and modern periods, have represented Samuel’s polity in the service of their own political agendas and territorial aspirations towards Macedonia. The wide-ranging relationship between culture, identity and power are addressed, making use not just of Balkan literary and artistic traditions but on writings from across the Slavic world and western political and intellectual contexts. Demonstrating the conflicted legacy of the Samuel’s State in the Balkans, Mitko B. Panov questions established scholarly opinion and offers new interpretations that reconsider its place in Byzantine and Balkan history and imagination.

Book excerpt: Recent research has challenged our view of the Abrahamic religious traditions as unilaterally intolerant and incapable of recognizing otherness in all its diversity and richness; but a diachronic and comparative study of how these traditions deal with otherness is yet to appear. This volume aims to contribute to such a study by presenting different treatments of otherness in medieval and early modern thought. Part I: Altruism deals with attitudes and behaviors that benefit others, regardless of its motives. We deal with the social rights and emotions as well as the moral obligations that the very existence of other human beings, whatever their characteristics, creates for a community. Part II: Religious recognition and toleration considers identity, toleration and mutual recognition created by the existence of religious or ethnic otherness in a given social, religious or political community. Part III: Evil deals with religious otherness that is considered evil and rejected such as heretics and malevolent, demonic entities. The volume will ultimately inform the reader on the nature of religious toleration (including beliefs and doctrines, even emotions) as well as of the self-definition of religious communities when encountering and defining otherness in different ways.
