Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throbbing with non-stop excitement, Shiva in the City of Nectar sweeps across Heaven, Earth and the Underworld, narrating the exploits of the mysterious and powerful blue-throated god. One after another, the tales unfold the follies of ancient devas, asuras, sages, men and mythical beasts. And through them all, Shiva blithely takes on the guise of beggar, saint, monarch, merchant, fisherman, hunter, warrior and woodcutter; walking through the three worlds to slay rampaging demons, perform his Dance of Bliss and embrace good and bad alike. Shiva is portrayed in all his multi-faceted mystique – the tender lover who woos and weds Goddess Meenakshi; the eternal Guru who dispenses wisdom; the fierce avenger whose third eye flashes fire; the generous benefactor who showers blessings on his devotees; and, above all, the gentle prankster who embodies the essence of Vedic faith.

Book excerpt: When Bhagirathananda began his search for truth many years ago, he knew he was ‘thirsty’ but did not know why. He only knew, instinctively, that his quest would lead him to Aananda – bliss. This faith led him to enquiry; within and without. Enquiry prompted him to examine himself and his universe afresh. It led him to the magic world of science and the infinite world of scriptures – Shruti and Smriti - the Vedas, Upanishads, Vedanta, Buddhist Cannon, the Bible, the Qur’an. It led him to travel, in the mountains and by the seas. It led him to good and wise men and women. It led him to wonder, contemplation and total and unconditional prayer. This book is compiled from notes he made along the way; it is the story of his grand quest and offers insight to all who are keenly interested in the nature of reality.

This SEO description explores the key themes and practical applications of the Bhagavad Gita for modern readers: Unveiling the Battlefield Within: While set on a battlefield, the Bhagavad Gita's true battleground lies within. Through the dialogue between Arjuna, a warrior prince, and Krishna, his divine charioteer, the text offers practical strategies for overcoming these obstacles and fulfilling your dharma (life's purpose). Paths to Liberation: A Choice for Every Seeker The Bhagavad Gita doesn't prescribe a single path. It explores three main yogas (disciplines) – Jnana Yoga (path of knowledge), Bhakti Yoga (path of devotion), and Karma Yoga (path of selfless action) – allowing you to find the approach that resonates most with your unique nature. Action with Awareness: Fulfilling Your Dharma in the Modern World The Bhagavad Gita emphasizes the importance of right action (dharma) without attachment to the outcome. This timeless message translates beautifully into modern life. Learn how to approach your work, relationships, and daily tasks with dedication and mindfulness, fostering a sense of purpose and inner peace. Timeless Wisdom for Modern Challenges: The Bhagavad Gita transcends time and culture. Its teachings on managing stress, cultivating equanimity (mental calmness), and finding meaning in a chaotic world offer valuable tools for navigating the complexities of modern life. A Journey of Self-Discovery: The Bhagavad Gita is not a static text; it serves as a lifelong companion on your journey of self-discovery. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Manusmriti, the social doctrine of yore, and the Bhagvad-Gita, the spiritual tome in vogue that lay down the discriminatory dharma (duties) of the four social classes (castes) have been the bugbears of the Hindu backward classes. However, to their chagrin, of late, as the latter is being mindlessly promoted even though the former was constitutionally debunked, they began advocating that it too should be dumped in a dustbin. Ironically, the improbability of their progenitor Krishna, the architect of the Gita, relegating his own ilk to the social margins failed to dawn upon these that Gita supposedly slights, even to this day! Thus, their intellectuals, instead of seeking to reclaim their priceless heritage, albeit after ridding its interpolative garbage, tend to rubbish it a la throwing the baby with the bathwater, and needless to say they must ponder. Also, it is high time that the Gita-class stop laying store by the self-aggrandizing verses in this Vyāsa’s classic, evidently inserted by their progenitors that came to bedevil the Hindu spiritual integrity and social harmony. Likewise, the grumblers of the dalit desertions must see the need for setting the Hindu house in order to prevent the fractious poaching by the Church, if not to facilitate the ‘hoped for’ return of the prodigals. So also those who take pride that Hinduism is the only religion that reckons all faith as true, should be concerned about the ‘in vogue’ Gita that belittles some of their caste fellows. Besides, this work beckons the feminists to reckon the second of the two interpolations from it cited in the cover image that degrades them in unspeakable terms. It is hoped that this ‘overdue’ work, might lead the ‘denied’ castes as well as the favoured folks for an objective approach to the Gita ‘as it is’ which could dispel the misgivings of the former and the delusions of the latter, thereby bridging the Hindu emotional gulf with its abridged book that restores its original form. So, this is a must read for every Hindu, whether or not one concurs with its propositions, and likewise for the students of logic and reasoning.

It spans 26 years of intensive Yoga studies with Swami Kamala Mata Aranya, an English woman who had met her own spiritual Master when she was only five years old in India. Esoteric wisdom from the Vedas culminated in her initiation into the "silent" and ancient Aranya Order in 1995. Swami Chitinanda was driven by her thirst for knowledge of the Divine. Her story began in childhood in the Huon Valley, Tasmania. The spiritual quest took her to the ashram in the north of the state to Somerset, Burnie. Swami Chitinanda experienced ashram life, often getting herself into trouble as she longed to "become an authentic version of her Self".

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can leadership lessons be learnt from the Mahabharata? Demystifying Leadership positively asserts that we can and probes inquiry in the lives of six characters-Bhishma, Ashvatthama, Karna, Shakuni, Kunti and Krishna. It studies these characters in inescapable situations as they navigate through life by demonstrating values, decision-making ability, integrity and principles. Within the given constraints, some of these characters swim and rise, while others sink in moral turpitude. Extrapolating these successful and not-so-successful character traits to corporate leaders and linking them to scholarship, the authors provide lessons for leaders and managers operating in diverse situations. Borrowing from different disciplines, such as literature, philosophy, politics and psychology, Demystifying Leadership proposes to link essentials of leadership in the form of a Leadership Triangle comprising six levels: positive personality, peace with personal identity, purpose, positive use of power and politics, paradoxical leadership and principled pragmatism. It takes a grounded approach in amalgamating mythology and leadership through scholarship and practice.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Puranas are texts sacred to Hinduism. We must have heard of the two great epics the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. The Mahabharata states that there are eighteen Puranas and also names three of them the Markandeya Purana the Vayu Purana and the Matsya Purana. Although the Ramayana does not mention any puranas by name the word Puranas is mentioned several times. This means that the composers of the Ramayana and the Mahabharata were familiar with the Puranas.
