Book excerpt: It wasn’t all about the money, winning was what mattered. Jake Arril found himself in a wolf den. Some would call them rounders, con men, pitch men, whatever; they all came running to the Time Share game in the late 70’s. Slick, polished hitters from the world’s of junk bond sales, Florida swamp, siding, used car, you name it, they all came running like moths to a flame. These guys could smell fast money, don’t get in their way or there would be a price to pay. Jake learned quickly money was just tickets to the show. Studying the craft of direct sales, Jake learned as much from doing it wrong as right. Right paid more! He went from student to teacher and the tickets won kept coming. As the pile grew bigger and bigger, so did the show. Money was meant to be spent, and he did. The estates called home, exotic cars, beautiful women, after awhile it was tough to come up with new ways to spend the tickets. Charter a cruise ship for a party, why not? Woven through the Round Table Jake actually mentors the reader on the fundamentals of successful direct, one on one sales. This is the first leg, the very beginning of a 35 year, billion dollar run. This is ground level Time Share sales. You are invited to sit in the sales pit and witness the other side of the sale. Enjoy the trip. For more information, please visit www.howtosellmytimeshare.net
Book Synopsis Religion and the Secular by : Timothy Fitzgerald
Download or read book Religion and the Secular written by Timothy Fitzgerald and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-12-05 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Religion has dominated colonialism since the 16th century. 'Religion and the Secular' critically examines how religion has been used to subject indigenous concepts to the needs of colonial powers. Essays present the colonial relationship from the perspective of colonized cultures - including Mexico, Guatemala, Vietnam, India, Japan, South Africa and Canada - and colonizing powers, namely England, Germany and the United States. The volume offers a historical and ethnographical analysis of the relationship between the sacred and the secular, examining religion in relation to politics, economics and civil power.

Book Synopsis Connecting Alaskans by : Heather E. Hudson
Download or read book Connecting Alaskans written by Heather E. Hudson and published by University of Alaska Press. This book was released on 2015-09-15 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Alaska is now open to civilization.” With those six words in 1900, the northernmost territory finally had a connection with the rest of the country. The telegraph system put in place by the US Army Signal Corps heralded the start of Alaska’s communication network. Yet, as hopeful as that message was, Alaska faced decades of infrastructure challenges as remote locations, extreme weather, and massive distances all contributed to less-than-ideal conditions for establishing reliable telecommunications. Connecting Alaskans tells the unique history of providing radio, television, phone, and Internet services to more than six hundred thousand square miles. It is a history of a place where military needs often trumped civilian ones, where ham radios offered better connections than telephone lines, and where television shows aired an entire day later than in the rest of the country. Heather E. Hudson covers more than a century of successes while clearly explaining the connection problems still faced by remote communities today. Her comprehensive history is perfect for anyone interested in telecommunications technology and history, and she provides an important template for policy makers, rural communities, and developing countries struggling to develop their own twenty-first-century infrastructure.

Book Synopsis Oil Age Eskimos by : Joseph G. Jorgensen
Download or read book Oil Age Eskimos written by Joseph G. Jorgensen and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2023-11-10 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a book made especially timely by the disastrous Exxon Valdez oil spill in March 1989, Joseph Jorgensen analyzes the impact of Alaskan oil extraction on Eskimo society. The author investigated three communities representing three environments: Gambell (St. Lawrence Island, Bering Sea), Wainwright (North Slope, Chukchi Sea), and Unalakleet (Norton Sound). The Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act of 1971, which facilitated oil operations, dramatically altered the economic, social, and political organization of these villages and others like them. Although they have experienced little direct economic benefit from the oil economy, they have assumed many environmental risks posed by the industry. Jorgensen provides a detailed reminder that the Native villagers still depend on the harvest of naturally-occurring resources of the land and sea—birds, eggs, fish, plants, land mammals and sea mammals. Oil Age Eskimos should be read by all those interested in Native American societies and the policies that affect those societies.
