Download or read book Keep Your VA Claim Moving! written by Sarah French and published by Patricia Garcher. This book was released on with total page 115 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Currently, about 520,000 veterans are waiting for a disability claim decision from the Department of Veterans Affairs, with about 235,000 veterans waiting 125 days or more. Using the knowledge that I have gained through thirty-one years of processing veteran’s disability claims, I have written a book that will help veterans shepherd their claims through the VA bureaucracy. "Keep Your VA Claim Moving" gives the basic facts about how the VA claims process works as well as insights into how the VA works that I’ve gained from working for the VA for thirty-one years. Having retired in 2014 my information is up to date. Since retiring I have done consulting work with a law firm on VA claims. This will help veterans who are considering filing a claim and also those who have already filed a claim and are wondering what has happened to it. There have been several books published in 2013 and 2014 on the subject of how to file a VA disability claim. This book is written by someone who is not just a consumer of VA benefits but who has actually worked for VA processing claims

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "For years, the disability compensation claims process has been the subject of concern and attention by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Congress, and veteran service organizations (VSO), due in part to long waits for decisions and the large number of claims pending a decision. As GAO and other organizations have reported over the last decade, VA has also faced challenges in improving the accuracy and consistency of disability decisions. GAO was asked to examine(1) trends in VA's disability compensation claims processing at the initial claims and appeals levels and (2) actions that VA has taken to improve its disability claims process. To do this, GAO reviewed and analyzed VA performance data, budget submissions, program documents, and external studies and interviewed VA officials and VSO representatives."

To do this, GAO reviewed and analyzed VA performance data, budget submissions, program documents, and external studies and interviewed VA officials and VSO representatives. GAO recommends that the Secretary of Veterans Affairs direct (1) VBA to collect data on redistributed claims to help assess the effect of workload redistribution, (2) VBA and the Board of Veterans' Appeals to establish a plan with criteria for assessing whether ECA should be widely implemented, and (3) VBA to develop a plan with criteria for assessing whether its pilot reorganization of claims processors should be expanded. VA agreed with the recommendations, and noted plans to address them.

Book Synopsis United States Code by : United States
Download or read book United States Code written by United States and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 1506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The United States Code is the official codification of the general and permanent laws of the United States of America. The Code was first published in 1926, and a new edition of the code has been published every six years since 1934. The 2012 edition of the Code incorporates laws enacted through the One Hundred Twelfth Congress, Second Session, the last of which was signed by the President on January 15, 2013. It does not include laws of the One Hundred Thirteenth Congress, First Session, enacted between January 2, 2013, the date it convened, and January 15, 2013. By statutory authority this edition may be cited "U.S.C. 2012 ed." As adopted in 1926, the Code established prima facie the general and permanent laws of the United States. The underlying statutes reprinted in the Code remained in effect and controlled over the Code in case of any discrepancy. In 1947, Congress began enacting individual titles of the Code into positive law. When a title is enacted into positive law, the underlying statutes are repealed and the title then becomes legal evidence of the law. Currently, 26 of the 51 titles in the Code have been so enacted. These are identified in the table of titles near the beginning of each volume. The Law Revision Counsel of the House of Representatives continues to prepare legislation pursuant to 2 U.S.C. 285b to enact the remainder of the Code, on a title-by-title basis, into positive law. The 2012 edition of the Code was prepared and published under the supervision of Ralph V. Seep, Law Revision Counsel. Grateful acknowledgment is made of the contributions by all who helped in this work, particularly the staffs of the Office of the Law Revision Counsel and the Government Printing Office"--Preface.
