This book was released on 2013-10-01 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Federation for Structural Concrete (fib) is a pre-normative organization. 'Pre-normative' implies pioneering work in codification. This work has now been realized with the fib Model Code 2010. The objectives of the fib Model Code 2010 are to serve as a basis for future codes for concrete structures, and present new developments with regard to concrete structures, structural materials and new ideas in order to achieve optimum behaviour. The fib Model Code 2010 is now the most comprehensive code on concrete structures, including their complete life cycle: conceptual design, dimensioning, construction, conservation and dismantlement. It is expected to become an important document for both national and international code committees, practitioners and researchers. The fib Model Code 2010 was produced during the last ten years through an exceptional effort by Joost Walraven (Convener; Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands), Agnieszka Bigaj-van Vliet (Technical Secretary; TNO Built Environment and Geosciences, The Netherlands) as well as experts out of 44 countries from five continents.

Download or read book Prestressed Concrete written by Charles W. Dolan and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-11-14 with total page 467 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook imparts a firm understanding of the behavior of prestressed concrete and how it relates to design based on the 2014 ACI Building Code. It presents the fundamental behavior of prestressed concrete and then adapts this to the design of structures. The book focuses on prestressed concrete members including slabs, beams, and axially loaded members and provides computational examples to support current design practice along with practical information related to details and construction with prestressed concrete. It illustrates concepts and calculations with Mathcad and EXCEL worksheets. Written with both lucid instructional presentation as well as comprehensive, rigorous detail, the book is ideal for both students in graduate-level courses as well as practicing engineers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis and ADINA contains the proceedings of the Fourth ADINA Conference held at Massachusetts Institute of Technology on June 15-17, 1983. Separating the papers presented in the conference as chapters, this book first elucidates the use of ADINA for analysis of mines with explosive fills. Subsequent chapters explore the use of ADINA in soil mechanics; nonlinear shell analysis; analysis of bond between prestressed steel and concrete; determination and simulation of stable crack growth; offshore structures analysis; modeling of traveling-loads and time-dependent masses; and comparison of two slideline methods. Other notable applications of ADINA are also shown.

Book Synopsis Validation of Nitronic 33 in Reinforced and Prestressed Concrete by : James F. Jenkins
Download or read book Validation of Nitronic 33 in Reinforced and Prestressed Concrete written by James F. Jenkins and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nitronic 33 stainless steel has a unique combination of high strength and nonmagnetic properties which make it an excellent candidate for use as prestressing strand for concrete waterfront structures where the magnetic properties of the carbon steel commonly used for prestressing strand are not acceptable. Before Nitronic 33 stainless steel prestressed concrete waterfront structures were constructed, it was necessary to establish the corrosion performance of the Nitronic 33 stainless steel in marine concrete. A test plan was developed where a series of tests which compared the performance of carbon steel to the Nitronic 33 stainless steel were to be performed. The time to initiation of attack was established as the critical parameter for the evaluation of the test results. In each test, corrosion of the carbon steel initiated prior to the initiation of the corrosion of the Nitronic 33 stainless steel. In addition, previously emplaced fullscale pier pilings with both carbon steel and Nitronic 33 stainless pretressing were inspected. The corrosion activity of the Nitronic 33 stainless steel prestressed piling was less than that of the companion carbon steel prestressed pilings.

Book Synopsis Reinforced Concrete with Worked Examples by : Franco Angotti
Download or read book Reinforced Concrete with Worked Examples written by Franco Angotti and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-06-07 with total page 860 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook describes the design of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures according to the latest advances both in the field of materials, concrete and steel, and in the field of structural analysis. These advances have been included in current version of Eurocode 2, which is taken as reference. All subjects are presented starting from their theoretical bases and passing to corresponding EC2 formulations. A large part of the book is concerned with the most innovative EC2 parts, like nonlinear structural analyses, second-order effects, punching and strut-and-tie models. The textbook is equipped with numerous worked examples, useful for the reader who is not familiar with the design of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures by the Limit State Method. Examples have been chosen among the most frequent cases of the professional practice. Thanks to this structure, it can be of interest both to structural designers for their professional training and to students of engineering and architecture schools for their studies. The volume contains twelve chapters, which follow the same structure of EC2, except for chapter 6 (dealing with prestressed concrete structures), which does not match any chapter of EC2, as prestressed concrete is considered in EC2 as a particular case of reinforced concrete, and corresponding formulations are shed over different chapters.
