Book excerpt: Do you know a child who struggles to get started with things or who resists trying something new? Maybe they argue or have trouble joining other kids in conversation and play. Do you hear yourself prompting your child again and again? Do you feel frustrated or stuck, and long for a better way - a more positive way - to engage your child while guiding them toward independence? This book was written for parents, caregivers, professionals and more - to guide you on how to move away from prompting and prodding kids - and toward authentic connections and competent roles. You'll learn how to create a positive learning environment for everyone, and feel empowered as you thoughtfully expand roles and responsibilities. "In this book, Ms. Murphy explains co-regulation as a way of being with, doing together, and teaching children with learning challenges. Instead of the adult directing and prompting the child through endless steps of an activity, a common method that can quickly become frustrating for all involved, with a co-regulation approach, the adult sets up activities such that the child has a specific role, one in which they are competent, and through this role the child, from the start, successfully participates in the whole, meaningful activity, and--and perhaps most importantly--participates in harmony together with the adult. More learning comes through creating alterations to the child's role (e.g., swapping roles), or adding complexity to the role or to the activity itself. In this way adults expand children's competence through meaningful participation and from a place of harmonious interaction. Activities included as examples are as disparate as cooking, playing games, and playdates. As in her Declarative Language Handbook, Ms. Murphy presents complex material with clarity and compelling, illustrative examples. This book will be invaluable for parents as well as teachers, and therapists across disciplines." Karen Levine, Ph.D., Psychologist Lecturer on Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School "When Declarative Language Handbook came out I recommended the book to my Facebook and YouTube followers, many of whom shared with me how grateful they were for recommending the book to them. I will be doing the same with Co-Regulation Handbook. The brilliance of Linda's writing is her ability to make concepts practical and she provides clear and concise directions regarding how to implement strategies. Linda's voice fills a tremendous need in the ADHD world, which for decades has ignored the incredibly important role language plays in building skills. Like Declarative Language Handbook, I consider this book a necessity for parents of kids with ADHD." Ryan Wexelblatt, LCSW, ADHD-CCSP (ADHD Dude) "This book is a beautifully written guide on how to form a deep, meaningful and impactful partnership with your child. This is important for any child, but when your child experiences the world differently this partnership is invaluable. I have watched my son (and myself!) grow in so many ways since we started practicing co-regulation, and I feel so much more equipped to help him navigate a world that can be confusing and scary to him. In this book Linda will walk you through the process of learning about co-regulation in an easy to read and fun way. This book is a MUST READ, the knowledge in these pages will help transform the child's experience and set the stage to learn and grow together in a positive and meaningful way." Charlie's Mom "Relationship is the key to unlocking true reciprocal communication, intrinsic motivation, and a strong sense of self. Linda Murphy's companion books, Declarative Language Handbook and Co-regulation Handbook, are clear, concise and communicate core principles of person-centered care I find foundational in my work." Sherri Miller MS, CCC-SLP, Founder of Communicating Potential LLC

This book was released on 2010 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2009, high-profile fraud cases like the Ponzi schemes of Bernard Madoff and Arthur Nadel vividly illustrated the harm done to investors who placed their trust in these apparently successful money managers and then discovered their money had never been invested at all. News stories featured 90-year-olds forced by necessity to work in supermarkets, elderly people losing their homes because their life savings were gone, and wealthy retirees suddenly unable to pay their electricity bills. Charities were forced to curtail their services, lay off staff, and even close their doors forever as their funds evaporated. Almost every day, there are stories in the media about dishonest employees who have robbed their organisations of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Not so well-publicised are the countless smaller thefts occurring every day from cash registers, warehouses, and business bank accounts. Sadly, the organisations that have the most to lose small businesses, family-run companies, churches, and charities are often the most vulnerable because of their size and inexperience. According to the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, accounting fraud cost over $994 billion in 2008, and the average organisation lost 7 percent of its total revenue to fraud. How can you prevent this from happening to you as an investor, business owner, or a person attempting to acquire or merge with another firm? Read this book and you will be able to understand, detect, and avoid accounting fraud. You will learn how to identify fraud, how to spot minor abnormalities that may hide fraud, how to spot forgeries, and how to prove your case, as well as what to immediately suspect and methods for uncovering scams. You will know what signs to look for, including excessive turnover of lawyers and auditors, changing professionals in the middle of a transaction, inconsistent information, and significant declines in stock prices. In addition, you will know how to recognise the common manoeuvres, earnings manipulation, premature and fictitious revenue, overvalued assets, undervalued liabilities, bogus revenue, expenses that have been shifted to another period, overstating revenues, understating expenses, and the misuse and misdirecting of funds. This new book is filled with studies and discussions of fraud cases and how they could have been avoided, checklists for detecting accounts misdeeds, and advice from analysts, CFOs, and CPAs. This manual will be an indispensable aid for serious investors, industry pros, acquisition and merger managers, and small business owners alike. After reading this book you will no longer have to worry about accounting fraud and you can increase your company's profits.

Who hasn’t been delighted by a right-on-time delivery, one of the 18 million UPS makes every day? Founded over a hundred years ago, UPS has moved steadily up the Fortune 500 while so many other corporations have disappeared. What’s the company’s secret? Just ask a driver! Ron Wallace was a UPS delivery driver for six years before he began rising through the ranks, ultimately becoming president of UPS International. In other companies, that might be extraordinary, but at UPS it’s par for the course. UPS has a unique corporate culture. It’s like a family. Package loaders call executives by their first names and vice versa. The company almost always promotes from within. Lifetime employment is common. Most employees own UPS stock. Wallace credits the company’s success—and his own—to its culture of “we, not me.” As he puts it, working at UPS gave him a PhD in teamwork. Instead of writing a typical business memoir that celebrates the leader as celebrity, Wallace shares vivid stories that focus on the people he worked with, the challenges they overcame, and the simple principles and practices that make up the UPS way. He exhorts his readers to grow their people, not just their business plans. The leadership style described in this book is simple and direct—and it works. The straightforward and easy-to-understand lessons provide a blueprint for an individual or company to build on past successes and adapt to future challenges. This is a must-read for anyone aspiring to become a great leader.

CONTENTS: Army Combat Fitness Test Training Guide Version 1.2 FIELD TESTING MANUAL Army Combat Fitness Test Version 1.4 Army Combat Fitness Test CALL NO. 18-37, September 2018 FM 7-22 ARMY PHYSICAL READINESS TRAINING, October 2012 IOC TESTING - ACFT EQUIPMENT LIST (1 X LANE REQUIREMENT) Version 1.1, 4 September 2018 ACFT Field Test Highlight Poster (Final) OVERVIEW: The Army will replace the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) with the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) as the physical fitness test of record beginning in FY21. To accomplish this, the ACFT will be implemented in three phases. Phase 1 (Initial Operating Capability – IOC) includes a limited user Field Test with approximately 60 battalion-sized units from across all components of the Army. While the ACFT is backed by thorough scientific research and has undergone several revisions, there are still details that have not been finalized. The ACFT requires a testing site with a two-mile run course and a flat field space approximately 40 x 40 meters. The field space should be grass (well maintained and cut) or artificial turf that is generally flat and free of debris. While maintaining testing standards and requirements, commanders will make adjustments for local conditions when necessary. The start and finish point for the two-mile run course must be in close proximity to the Leg Tuck station. When test events are conducted indoors, the surface must be artificial turf only. Wood and rubberized surfaces are not authorized as they impact the speed of the Sprint-Drag-Carry. When environmental conditions prohibit outdoor testing, an indoor track may be used for the 2 Mile Run. The Test OIC or NCOIC are responsible to inspect and certify the site and determine the number of testing lanes. There should not be more than 4 Soldiers per testing group for the SPT, HRP, and SDC. The OIC or NCOIC must add additional lanes or move Soldiers to a later testing session to ensure no more than 4 Soldiers per testing group. Concerns related to Soldiers, graders, or commanders will be addressed prior to test day. The number of lanes varies by number of Soldiers testing. A 16-lane ACFT site will have the following: ACFT specific test equipment requirements: 16 hexagon/trap bars (60 pounds), each with a set of locking collars. While all NSN approved hexagon bars must weigh 60 pounds, there is always a small manufacturer’s production tolerance. The approved weight tolerance for the hexagon bar is + 2 pounds (58-62 pounds). Weight tolerance for the hexagon bar and therefore the 3 Repetition Maximum Deadlift does not include the collars. On average hexagon bar collars weigh < 2.0 pounds per pair and are considered incidental to the totalweight of the MDL weight. Approximately 3,000 lbs. of bumper plates. 16 x 10 lb. medicine ball 16 x nylon sled with pull straps. 32 x 40 lb. kettle bells. Permanent or mobile pull up bars (16 x pull-up bars at approximately 7.5 feet off the ground with,step-ups for shorter Soldiers). Common unit equipment for set-up and grading: 16 stop watches. 8 x 25m tape measures. 8 x wooden or PVC marking sticks for the SPT. One stick for every two lanes. 70 x 18” traffic cones. 50 field / dome cones. A soft, flat, dry test area approximately 40m x 40m on grass or artificial turf (half of a soccer or football field). A site that is free of any significant hazards. A preparation area (can be same as briefing area) to conduct Preparation Drill. A generally flat, measured running course with a solid, improved surface that is not more than 3 percent uphill grade and has no overall decline (start and finish must be at the same altitude).
