Download or read book Early Psychosocial Interventions in Dementia written by Jill Manthorpe and published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers. This book was released on 2008-11-15 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For the increasing number of people diagnosed with dementia each year, treatment in the early stages can make a significant difference to their quality of life. This book provides examples of psychosocial interventions: taking into consideration the individual, social and environmental aspects of the person's life. It looks at ways of providing support at the time of diagnosis and goes on to explore a variety of interventions and services for the treatment of early dementia. Bringing together the knowledge and experiences of professionals from both the UK and Europe, the contributors describe interventions for both psychological and practical problems with case examples such as memory support groups, art therapies and assistive technologies for use in the home. This accessible book will be essential reading for practitioners and carers working with those with early dementia and will be extremely useful in both professional development and for those new to dementia care.
Book Synopsis Constraints and Possibilities by : Mauro Ceruti
Download or read book Constraints and Possibilities written by Mauro Ceruti and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 1994 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in the Italian,Constraints and Possibilitieshas caused a considerable stir in Europe and has already been translated into several languages. In what noted cyberneticist Heinz von Foerster called a stroke of genius, Ceruti applies a new perspective to our understanding of evolution, and startlingly outlines how the evolution of our knowledge and our knowledge of evolution have in fact been mirror images of each other. Expanding on the intellectual tradition of Gregory Bateson, Ervin Laszlo, Stephen Jay Gould, and Niles Eldredge, Ceruti's work is a testament to the paradigm shift occurring in science today. Indispensable reading for anyone interested in the evolution of our conception of knowledge.
Book Synopsis Non-pharmacological Interventions for Mental Disorders by : Lara Guedes De Pinho
Download or read book Non-pharmacological Interventions for Mental Disorders written by Lara Guedes De Pinho and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2024-04-01 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the side effects of the COVID-19 pandemic was the worsening of the symptomatology of mental disorders. The number of people with mental disorders has increased and pre-existing mental disorders have worsened, in many cases. Psychopharmacology alone is not sufficient for the treatment of conditions such as schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder, among others, and the combined use of psychopharmacology and non-pharmacological interventions is recommended by international guidelines. Despite this, most people around the world do not have access to non-pharmacological interventions and when they are diagnosed with a mental disorder, only psychopharmacological drugs are prescribed. In other cases, although non-pharmacological interventions, for example psychotherapy, are also prescribed, this response takes a long time.
