He studied at Cambridge in England and at Columbia in New York. As a student he lived what his friends have described as a bawdy life but turned from it to become a devout Roman Catholic. As America entered World War II he entered the abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani in Kentucky, and for 27 years he was a Trappist monk, in the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance. During his early days there he wrote an autobiography which became the third bestselling nonfiction book of the year 1949 and went on to write more than 50 more until in 1968 he at last went back into the world to meet with monastic leaders in Asia. Apparently Pope Francis read Metron’s works and in his address to the U.S. Congress named Merton, Dorothy Day, Abraham Lincoln, and Martin Luther King Jr. as people he hoped Americans would emulate. He had entered Gethsemani on December 10, 1941, when he was nearing his twenty-seventh birthday; and on December 10, 1968, as he was nearing his fifty-fourth birthday, he was accidentally electrocuted while attending a religious conference in Bangkok, Thailand. Many in the West consider him a saint and many in the East consider him a manifestation of the Buddha. His autobiography, The Seven Storey Mountain, has been compared to the Confessions of Saint Augustine No one who reads it or any other of his books is ever the same again. The author of this play, James Thomas Baker, knew Thomas Merton and wrote the original version of the play soon after Merton's death. This completely revised and rewritten version, done as an expression of love and admiration in 2015, is to commemorate his hundred birthday.

While the church baptizes people in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the culture in which we live is baptizing us into the trinitarian values of consumption, production, and acquisition. The respective baptism we choose to immerse ourselves in is consequential for the type of people we are becoming. Wade In the Water alerts us to the presence of these formative forces, so that we can choose the sacred ways that form us in the Jesus Way.

Book excerpt: Astrology is the most interesting subject I know. There are so many unanswered questions; it’s like our direction to live and survive on this planet with the Sun, Moon, Stars, and People. If you understand the four elements—Air, Fire, Earth, and Water—and the twelve signs your life, your friends, and your surroundings will be peaceful. Not all signs will agree, do they ever? This is the main reason there is no peace in our world. Remember, Air and Fire attracts, Earth and Water attracts. Do you know your element? Even if you are not compatible with all signs, at least try. If all Signs and Elements would try to get along, we could live in a peaceful world. This would be our Heaven on Earth because It’s All In the Stars.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Within everyones personal story is the presence of the Divine making Itself known. In The Faceless Goddess: Dreams, Fantasies, and Visions of a Feminine Nature, the author tells the story of her own life experiences, which is really a personal journey in search for the Divine in her own life. As a child and an adolescent, the author is not aware that the journey is taking place. As an adult though, she begins to realize that something extraordinary is taking place when she begins to ask questions such as Who am I? and What purpose and meaning does life hold for me? Over time, and with much introspection through dreams, fantasies, and visions, as well as with her work with the archetypes, the author begins to realize that her search for the Divine is really a search for her True Self. She also discovers that by finding her True Self, she will also find the purpose and meaning to the life she is living. Eventually, she comes to the conclusion that life itself is an expression of the Divine in the living world. And that humans experiences are a living testimony that the Sacred and the Divine are ever present in the world around them and within their very being.

Book Synopsis Finishing the Mysteries of Gods and Symbols by : Seven Star Hand
Download or read book Finishing the Mysteries of Gods and Symbols written by Seven Star Hand and published by Seven Star Hand. This book was released on 2010-09-17 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here is comprehensive proof that the symbolism of many ancient texts, canons, and concepts is an advanced and extremely ancient spiritual and philosophical technology that predates all extant religions and mystery schools. Consequently, here is proof, beyond disproof, that all three so-called “Faiths of Abraham” are purposeful deceptions. Accordingly, related esoterica, mystery schools, and the New Age are rife with error caused by undue reliance upon the assertions of these religions and their leaders. Throughout this book, I present verifiable proof that ancient sages and prophets opposed religion and wisely never trusted religious leaders. As comprehensive validation of this, they redundantly encoded stunning proof of why throughout pivotal symbolic narratives and related concepts. The ancient sages and prophets hid vital secrets from religious leaders throughout the previous several millennia. When these decoded details are compared to the history, words, and deeds of these religions and their leaders, they finally prove the truth about many long-hidden things. These religions have always purposely imposed ignorance based on the deceptive recasting of earlier symbolic concepts and narratives; that also expertly encoded the keys to ancient wisdom as redundant proofs of the truth. Arrogant religious leaders, while hypocritically lecturing others about morality, have long overlooked that the ancient sages and prophets were painfully aware of their then-current and future misdeeds and deceptions, and patiently and expertly prepared for them !!!
