This book was released on 2007-12-31 with total page 877 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by a distinguished specialist in functional analysis, this book presents a comprehensive treatment of the history of Banach spaces and (abstract bounded) linear operators. Banach space theory is presented as a part of a broad mathematics context, using tools from such areas as set theory, topology, algebra, combinatorics, probability theory, logic, etc. Equal emphasis is given to both spaces and operators. The book may serve as a reference for researchers and as an introduction for graduate students who want to learn Banach space theory with some historical flavor.
Book Synopsis Functional Analysis, Sobolev Spaces and Partial Differential Equations by : Haim Brezis
Download or read book Functional Analysis, Sobolev Spaces and Partial Differential Equations written by Haim Brezis and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-11-02 with total page 600 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook is a completely revised, updated, and expanded English edition of the important Analyse fonctionnelle (1983). In addition, it contains a wealth of problems and exercises (with solutions) to guide the reader. Uniquely, this book presents in a coherent, concise and unified way the main results from functional analysis together with the main results from the theory of partial differential equations (PDEs). Although there are many books on functional analysis and many on PDEs, this is the first to cover both of these closely connected topics. Since the French book was first published, it has been translated into Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Romanian, Greek and Chinese. The English edition makes a welcome addition to this list.

This book was released on 2010-01-11 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present book is a memorial volume devoted to Peter Jonas. It displays recent advances in modern operator theory in Hilbert and Krein spaces and contains a collection of original research papers written by many well-known specialists in this field. The papers contain new results for problems close to the area of research of Peter Jonas: Spectral and perturbation problems for operators in inner product spaces, generalized Nevanlinna functions and definitizable functions, scattering theory, extension theory for symmetric operators, fixed points, hyperbolic matrix polynomials, moment problems, indefinite spectral and Sturm-Liouville problems, and invariant subspace problems. This book is written for researchers and postgraduates interested in functional analysis and differential operators.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the Proceedings of the Conference on Interpolation Theory and Applications in honor of Professor Michael Cwikel (Miami, FL, 2006). The central topic of this book is interpolation theory in its broadest sense, with special attention to its applications to analysis. The articles include applications to classical analysis, harmonic analysis, partial differential equations, function spaces, image processing, geometry of Banach spaces, and more. This volume emphasizes remarkable connections between several branches of pure and applied analysis. Graduate students and researchers in analysis will find it very useful.
Book Synopsis Linear and Quasilinear Parabolic Problems by : Herbert Amann
Download or read book Linear and Quasilinear Parabolic Problems written by Herbert Amann and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1995-03-27 with total page 688 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This treatise gives an exposition of the functional analytical approach to quasilinear parabolic evolution equations, developed to a large extent by the author during the last 10 years. This approach is based on the theory of linear nonautonomous parabolic evolution equations and on interpolation-extrapolation techniques. It is the only general method that applies to noncoercive quasilinear parabolic systems under nonlinear boundary conditions. The present first volume is devoted to a detailed study of nonautonomous linear parabolic evolution equations in general Banach spaces. It contains a careful exposition of the constant domain case, leading to some improvements of the classical Sobolevskii-Tanabe results. It also includes recent results for equations possessing constant interpolation spaces. In addition, systematic presentations of the theory of maximal regularity in spaces of continuous and Hölder continuous functions, and in Lebesgue spaces, are given. It includes related recent theorems in the field of harmonic analysis in Banach spaces and on operators possessing bounded imaginary powers. Lastly, there is a complete presentation of the technique of interpolation-extrapolation spaces and of evolution equations in those spaces, containing many new results.
Book Synopsis The Functional Calculus for Sectorial Operators by : Markus Haase
Download or read book The Functional Calculus for Sectorial Operators written by Markus Haase and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-08-18 with total page 399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains a systematic and partly axiomatic treatment of the holomorphic functional calculus for unbounded sectorial operators. The account is generic so that it can be used to construct and interrelate holomorphic functional calculi for other types of unbounded operators. Particularly, an elegant unified approach to holomorphic semigroups is obtained. The last chapter describes applications to PDE, evolution equations and approximation theory as well as the connection with harmonic analysis.
