Book Synopsis Deep-Sky Companions: The Caldwell Objects by : Stephen James O'Meara
Download or read book Deep-Sky Companions: The Caldwell Objects written by Stephen James O'Meara and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2016-09-26 with total page 577 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Caldwell Catalogue, compiled by the late Sir Patrick Moore (1923–2012), has delighted amateur astronomers worldwide since its publication in 1995. Twenty years on, Stephen James O'Meara revisits his guide to these 109 deep-sky delights, breathing new life into them and the 20 additional observing targets included as an appendix. This second edition retains O'Meara's detailed visual descriptions and sketches, accompanied by stunning new images taken by amateur photographer Mario Motta and observations by Magda Streicher. The astrophysical descriptions have been updated to account for the many advances in our understanding of the objects, not least due to an armada of space-borne observatories and the new technologies used in large ground-based telescopes. Ideal for observers who have completed the Messier objects and are looking for their next challenge, Deep-Sky Companions: The Caldwell Objects is a fitting tribute from a renowned visual observer to one of astronomy's most famous personalities.

Book Synopsis The Off-Camera Flash Handbook by : Vanessa Joy
Download or read book The Off-Camera Flash Handbook written by Vanessa Joy and published by Rocky Nook, Inc.. This book was released on 2020-01-06 with total page 407 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt:
If your past attempts at learning flash have all ended in failure (not to mention tears and/or blind rage), then The Off-Camera Flash Handbook is about to change everything for you. For years, photographer Vanessa Joy has been using off-camera flash to create gorgeous portraits that look like they were shot in the most beautiful natural light at the perfect time of day. Well, guess what? That consistent look was not created thanks to the most amazing luck with the weather. No. It was created by a pro photographer who mastered her use of off-camera flash. And with her down-to-earth and practical explanations, that’s exactly what Vanessa teaches you in this book.
Vanessa breaks down off-camera flash into an easy-to-understand approach, and instead of focusing on the gear and the settings (which are also included, of course), she focuses on the kinds of shots you want to make. This book is about learning to use off-camera flash easily and quickly so that you can create beautiful, natural-looking light in any situation, at any time you need it…regardless of the weather or time of day.
The book is divided into three parts. Part One covers the fundamentals of off-camera flash, and it does so without blasting you with a firehose of information. Instead, Vanessa gives you the basics you need so that you can start shooting right away without becoming overwhelmed with technical jargon.
Once you’re set up and ready to go, Vanessa jumps right into Part Two with specific photo scenarios and real-world situations where you’ll learn key techniques for using your flash to create consistent, beautiful photographs. For each scenario, Vanessa provides the goal for the shoot, a gear list, the step-by-step shooting instructions, and images that show both the progress of the shoot and the behind-the-scenes shots or lighting diagrams of the setup. She also discusses problems you may encounter, variations on the shot, and additional practical scenarios for each situation.
Just a few examples include:
• Recreating the golden hour at any time
• Shooting groups
• Making indoors look like outdoors
• Enhancing natural light
• Using flash at events
• Working in harsh sunlight
• Creating silhouettes
• Shooting at sunset
• Fixing an ugly-light room
• And much more
Finally, Part Three tackles the questions you’ll likely have once you’ve got the basics under your belt and you’re already creating great photos with your off-camera flash—things like high-speed sync, sync speed, a practical understanding of the inverse square law, etc. There is also a helpful FAQ section at the end of the book.

Download or read book Through the Night Sky written by DK and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2020-09-08 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A beautifully illustrated collection of nonfiction stories featuring the many wonders that exist in the night sky. Beginning with a sunset and ending at dawn, Through the Night Sky shines a light on the magical events taking place in the darkness above. Unlike an astronomy book that focuses on eye-popping facts and figures about the universe, Through the Night Sky features a series of incredible stories that take place in the sky at night. Track a colony of bats as they fly through the twilight to pollinate the flowers of the mysterious baobab tree, follow a family into the wilderness to gaze at the constellations, watch whales swimming through chilly Arctic waters under the gentle glow of the Northern Lights, then chart the journey of a ship navigating by the stars. Through the Night Sky is a beautiful book that spans a wide range of subjects, including everything from nocturnal animals or revelers watching fireworks illuminate the night, to celestial objects such as the moon, planets, stars, and meteor showers--all under the vast night sky.

Download or read book Noctilucent Clouds written by Michael Gadsden and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-13 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An atmospheric phenomenon is considered as 'explained' when we have succeeded in deducing it on the basis of accepted principles of physics. (H. Ertel, Methods and problems of dynamical meteorolo gy,p. l) Until recently, noctilucent clouds were regarded merely as a curious atmos pheric phenomenon, the occurrence of which aroused only limited scientific attention. However, in the last two decades the interest they have been given has markedly increased. The clouds, usually pale blue in colour, may be seen on a clear night at high latitudes. Typical examples are illustrated in the book. Clouds looking like these in daytime would be classified as cirrostratus. What sets noctilucent clouds apart is their occurrence in the middle of the night, their very obvious pale blue colour, and their disappearance into the dawn close to the onset of civil twilight when the Sun is 6° below the horizon. as being set apart from ordinary Noctilucent clouds were first recognized clouds in 1884/1885 and in a series of sightings that followed their return in the summer of 1885. That year marked the beginning of observations and the interpretation of twilight phenomena. The impetus came from the extraordi nary Krakatoa eruption, which was not only one of the most spectacular volcanic eruptions in recorded history, but which also turned out to be a startling event in atmospheric science with repercussions even in our time.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My perception about "Wisdom Of Oneness"which mostly expressed in my poetic musings of this book. I believe that the experiences ,feelings and emotions of happiness or sorrow of the beings, though seems to be individual,in reality are the part of collective consciousness of "One" Devine, unlimited, eternal entity . The realisation of the concept of "Oneness " enable the people to expand their consciousness and mingle with the unlimited consciousness where one cease to exist as "I". Such feeling of oneness fill the hearts with peace, universal love and brotherhood liberating the minds from the clutches of negative energies; ego, enmity ,greediness and accept the world as a single family .
