Grows to a height of from 2 to 18 inches. The smaller plants have a single stem with few branches. The larger are branched and bushy. The leaves are somewhat elongated, are about ll inches long and set right on the stem without a stalk. The blossoms are very small, are white and.have four petals and for sepals, they are in clusters which are extensions of the main stem or of the lateral branches, and each one is attached to the stem by a little stalk of its own. The flowers at the lower part come out first, and the pods may be almost ripe while the upper part is still in bloom. The distinguishing features are its dis agreeable smell and, its peculiarly shaped pod. The pod is of a light green color, flat, from 1 to 1} inch broad, heart shaped and deeply indented at the top. It has two cells, and each cell contains from {our to eight seeds. The seed is similar to, though much smaller than that of cauli flower. Plants growing when winter comes on will retain their vitality and produce and shed their seed very early, and these seeds will often repro duce twice in the same season. The seed being small will not germinate unless very near the surface, and when buried below the germinating point will retain its vitality for many years. The milk produced by cows which have access to Stink Weed is not fit for use, and unless such stock is removed from such pasture two or three weeks previous to slaughtering the beef is unmarketable. A more general knowledge of the weed laws already in the statutes of the several States may arouse greater interest in their execution and a compilation of these laws, such as is offered in this bulletin, will doubtless prove an aid in devis ing new legislation against weeds. The poisonous weeds of Alberta found to be most dangerous to livestock are: Tall Larkspur, Low Larkspur, Death Camas. Water Hemlock, White Loco-weed Woolly Loco-weed. And Showy Loco weed.
