Never far away from trouble, she recently made the headlines when, having started a new job, her boss and his family were murdered and, in a sickening twist of fate, the prime suspect turned out to be the man who claimed to be in love with her. Even more disturbingly, it transpired that the bodies of the victims had been temporarily buried in her back garden.By the time the book is published, Belinda will have given evidence as a key witness at the trial. Her colourful life has also included being best friend and confidante to Paula Yates, being arrested with a car boot full of cocaine and subsequently being exonerated at her trial. This is a breath-taking and scandalous read.

A young girl’s body is found one morning on the banks of a canal. With help from a clairvoyant, the trail leads the investigating officers to London, and thence to Reading and Augsburg. They find themselves mixing with butchers, decorators, fashion retailers, dentists and the leisured rich, bargees, ex-cons and bilingual administrators, but the mythical and mysterious Zedler, who seems to hold all the threads in his hands, eludes them. Is he the moving force behind the British League, a right-wing political movement whose aim is to keep foreigners out of Britain? Is he the brains behind the counterfeiting operations? Is he the murderer? Wickfield finds out with a little help from his wife, who fortunately has a better insight into Robinson Crusoe than he does! As always with Julius Falconer, you, the reader, are given all the information available to the detective officers, and the vital clue is there for you to spot - if you are up to it! Take your time, enjoy the many detours and red herrings, the literary allusions, the religious and philosophical byways, the silver-smooth English - and keep your eye on the ball if you can! You are guaranteed a stimulating read. Book reviews online: PublishedBestsellers website.

Book excerpt: Rufus Ghant was a child from an orphanage because of abandonment by his parents. While in the orphanage, he was hired out to work on a ranch owned by a gentleman rancher who raised horses and cattle. He met the daughter of the family. He and the daughter, Amanda Vance, grew in love. They attended college together and were to marry. After college, he was drafted into the Army. He became a Green Beret. While at boot camp, Amanda was brutally murdered by Jason Brantly, the son of a local judge. He escaped justice due to a technicality. Upon learning of Amanda’s death, Rufus swore to seek vengeance. Having served his country in Vietnam, he was hired by the Colorado Highway Patrol. He apprehended a speeder who was politically connected. The speeder reached for a pistol in the glove compartment. Rufus felt he would be shot; thus he killed the man. Rufus was fired by the patrol despite his exemplary service due to politics. The patrol commander spoke on behalf of Rufus; thus Rufus was hired on as a sheriff deputy. Later, he was to become the sheriff of Hunter County in a place called Mountain Pass, Colorado. Rufus modernized the department. He had a strict rule. “Never accept favors from anyone, thus to become beholden to anyone, especially to politicians, the wealthy.” He became the benevolent power in the county. He was able to achieve the lowest crime rate in the country. He applied tough justice goal to all, regardless of position in life. He later married. His family consisted of his wife, an adopted daughter, and later took in a young boy, whose parents were killed by the son of Jason Brantly. Jason Brantly built a resort near Rufus’s home. Rufus, knowing of Brantley’s interest, applied strict justice against the resort for even the smallest violation. Brantly’s son was arrested for several traffic violation and was jailed for killing the parents of the young boy in the second traffic incident. Jason Brantly was safe on one of the cry men islands. He was involved with the mob and a drug cartel. Brantly sent a group of man to kill Rufus’s family and two pets, a dog and a deer. All died as a result of brutalities unimaginable to the human mind. Rufus’s wife was pregnant at the time. The unborn child was subjected to absolute cruelty. Rufus place was at its ——. With the help of others, he enacted his furious punishment of all involved. At the end of his punishments, he called out, “JUSTICE DONE!”

Book excerpt: Slocum's about to learn that sometimes, the best man for the job is a boy. If there’s anything worse than a dirty snake, it’s a cheap dirty snake. And Jack Mitcham is as cheap as they come. So when young Joshua Quaid and his brothers stood up to him in a bar one fateful day, Mitcham took Quaid’s two eldest brothers out with just one bullet. Saving on ammo, as Mitcham would say. The young Quaid isn’t the only one out to find Mitcham, though. The con man is also on Slocum’s hit list—exceptin’ he’s listed under one of a dozen aliases. And both Slocum and the boy are looking forward to a hefty reward, should they find him dead or alive. So, after a right impolite howdy-do—including bullets and some blood—the pair realize that two heads are better than one. But first, there are a few things Slocum needs to teach his greenhorn sidekick, like how to hold his liquor, woo a woman into bed—and find footprints in the snow…
