Book Synopsis Trinity After Pentecost by : William P Atkinson
Download or read book Trinity After Pentecost written by William P Atkinson and published by Lutterworth Press. This book was released on 2014-07-31 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Trinity After Pentecost considers the triune God from a Pentecostal viewpoint. In so doing, it offers a fresh articulation of the theology of the Trinity, taking the Holy Spirit as its starting point. It concludes that the Trinity cannot be adequately appreciated using any single model - whether social, modal, or psychological. Instead, it presents three models - relational, instrumental, and substantial - that must be held in paradoxical tension with one another to gain insight into the Trinity. Of these, the relational model is the foremost. Pentecost offers rich potential for seeing the relations between the Father, the Son and the Spirit as a dynamic reciprocal 'dance', in which each Person empties their 'self ' in order to exalt the others.

This book was released on 2009-02-11 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How can what is always eternal be spoken of in temporal terms? How can God who is far above us all be upon this earth and found to be dwelling among us and how can we be a refl ection of Him? How can it be that God is in His Creation, and His Creation in God? Is the Father not the hidden One, from whom all things come? Is the Son not the saving One, by whom we are redeemed this day? Is the Spirit not the guiding One, through whom we shall come to Heaven? And are we not called to be as He is, one with the One LORD forever?
Book Synopsis A Scene from Heaven by : Ronald Artis

Book excerpt: It was in 1986 when the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit inspired me to truly seek His kingdom and all of His righteousness. First, through the reading of His word in the King James version of the Holy Bible. I questioned myself, “Who is God?”, this great person, who created all things, and where did this God come from? What was His Start? Well, seven years later on August twenty seventh nineteen ninety three at about four a.m., I dreamed that I was sitting in a theater watching a 3D movie about “Heaven and Hell”. In awakening out of that sleep, I went to my knees in prayer, in regards to that dream. I believe that God answered the questions I had about Him and He also interpreted my dream by touching my heart and mind, causing the idea to write about Him, how He started, His experiences in Heaven, and the enormity of His Love for us.

Book Synopsis Paul and the Trinity by : Wesley Hill
Download or read book Paul and the Trinity written by Wesley Hill and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2015-03-10 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paul’s ways of speaking about God, Jesus, and the Spirit are intricately intertwined: talking about any one of the three, for Paul, implies reference to all of them together. However, much current Pauline scholarship discusses Paul’s God-, Christ-, and Spirit-language without reference to trinitarian theology. In contrast to that trend, Wesley Hill argues in this book that later, post-Pauline trinitarian theologies represent a better approach, opening a fresh angle on Paul’s earlier talk about God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Spirit. Hill looks critically at certain well-known discussions in the field of New Testament studies -- those by N. T. Wright, Richard Bauckham, Larry Hurtado, and others -- in light of patristic and contemporary trinitarian theologies, resulting in an innovative approach to an old set of questions. Adeptly integrating biblical exegesis and historical-systematic theology, Hill’s Paul and the Trinity shows how trinitarian theologies illumine interpretive difficulties in a way that more recent theological concepts have failed to do. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It rises suddenly out of the Sonoran Desert landscape, towering over the tallest tree or cactus, a commanding building with a sensuous dome, elliptical vaults, and sturdy bell towers. There is nothing else like it around, nor does it seem there should be. This incongruity of setting is what strikes first-time visitors to Mission San Xavier del Bac. This great church is of another place and another time, while its beauty is universal and timeless. Mission San Xavier del Bac is a two-century-old Spanish church in southern Arizona located just a few miles from downtown Tucson, a metropolis of more than half a million people in the American Southwest. A National Historic Landmark since 1963, the mission’s graceful baroque art and architecture have drawn visitors from all over the world. Now Bernard Fontana—the leading expert on San Xavier—and award-winning photographer Edward McCain team up to bring us a comprehensive view of the mission as we’ve never seen it before. With 200 stunning full-color photographs and incisive text illuminating the religious, historical, and motivational context of these images, A Gift of Angels is a must-have for tourists, scholars, and other visitors to San Xavier. Book Synopsis The Birth of the Trinity by : Matthew W. Bates
Download or read book The Birth of the Trinity written by Matthew W. Bates and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2015-03-12 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How and when did Jesus and the Spirit come to be regarded as fully God? The Birth of the Trinity offers a new historical approach by exploring the way in which first- and second-century Christians read the Old Testament in order to differentiate the one God as multiple persons. The earliest Christians felt they could metaphorically overhear divine conversations between the Father, Son, and Spirit when reading the Old Testament. When these snatches of dialogue are connected and joined, they form a narrative about the unfolding interior divine life as understood by the nascent church. What emerges is not a static portrait of the triune God, but a developing story of divine persons enacting mutual esteem, voiced praise, collaborative strategy, and self-sacrificial love. The presence of divine dialogue in the New Testament and early Christian literature shows that, contrary to the claims of James Dunn and Bart Ehrman (among others), the earliest Christology was the highest Christology, as Jesus was identified as a divine person through Old Testament interpretation. The result is a Trinitarian biblical and early Christian theology.
Book Synopsis The Holy Trinity and the Law of Three by : Cynthia Bourgeault
Download or read book The Holy Trinity and the Law of Three written by Cynthia Bourgeault and published by Shambhala Publications. This book was released on 2013-07-09 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In this formula that Christians recite as though on autopilot lie the secrets for healing our world, rekindling our visionary imagination, and manifesting the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. It’s an astonishing claim, but one that is supported by Cynthia Bourgeault’s exploration of Trinitarian theology—and by her bold work in further articulating the deep truth it contains. She looks to the ancient concept in light of the ideas of G. I. Gurdjieff and Jacob Boehme to reveal the Trinity as the "hidden driveshaft" within Christianity: the compassionate expression of the Uncreated Reality in creation.
