Esto permite desarrollar una perspectiva sobre la forma en que el derecho público europeo podría influir para enfrentar las deficiencias sistémicas de algunos Estados que evidencian una tendencia hacia el autoritarismo. De igual forma, a la luz del constitucionalismo transformador, se exploran vías vinculadas al derecho comparado y universal, que despiertan un considerable interés académico. El interés del autor en el derecho público no pretende una comparación entre América Latina y Europa, sin embargo, es posible identificar un sentido de comunidad y pertenencia, así como la convicción de que el objetivo común y la cooperación aportan un valor añadido para todos los integrantes de los sistemas regionales. Based on fieldwork among the Purépecha of Michoacán, Mexico, some of the most talented artisans of the New World, the book is not so much a work of ethnography as of philosophy—a cultural critique of modernism. García Canclini delineates three interpretations of popular culture: spontaneous creation, which posits that artistic expression is the realization of beauty and knowledge; "memory for sale," which holds that original products are created for sale in the imposed capitalist system; and the tourist outlook, whereby collectibles are created to justify development and to provide insight into what capitalism has achieved.
