Book excerpt: The LNCS journal Transactions on Computational Collective Intelligence (TCCI) focuses on all facets of computational collective intelligence (CCI) and their applications in a wide range of fields such as the Semantic Web, social networks and multi-agent systems. TCCI strives to cover new methodological, theoretical and practical aspects of CCI understood as the form of intelligence that emerges from the collaboration and competition of many individuals (artificial and/or natural). The application of multiple computational intelligence technologies such as fuzzy systems, evolutionary computation, neural systems, consensus theory, etc., aims to support human and other collective intelligence and to create new forms of CCI in natural and/or artificial systems. This, the sixth issue of Transactions on Computational Collective Intelligence contains 10 selected papers, focusing on the topics of classification, agent cooperation, paraconsistent reasoning and agent distributed mobile interaction.

Denotational mathematics, as a counterpart of conventional analytic mathematics, is a category of expressive mathematical structures that deals with high-level mathematical entities beyond numbers and sets, such as abstract objects, complex relations, behavioral information, concepts, knowledge, processes, granules, and systems. This volume includes 12 papers covering the following four important areas: foundations and applications of denotational mathematics; rough and fuzzy set theories; granular computing; and knowledge and information modeling.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Transactions on Computational Science journal is part of the Springer series Lecture Notes in Computer Science, and is devoted to the gamut of computational science issues, from theoretical aspects to application-dependent studies and the va- dation of emerging technologies. The current issue is devoted to computer systems research and the application of such research, which naturally complement each other. The issue is comprised of Part 1: Computational Visualization and Optimization, and Part 2: Computational Methods for Model Design and Analysis. Part 1 – Computational Visualization and Optimization – is devoted to state-of-the-art research carried out in this area with the use of novel computational methods. It is c- prised of five papers, each addressing a specific computational problem in the areas of shared virtual spaces, dynamic visualization, multimodal user interfaces, computational geometry, and parallel simulation, respectively. Part 2 – Computational Methods for Model Design and Analysis – continues the topic with an in-depth look at selected computational science research in the areas of data representation and analysis. The four papers comprising this part cover such areas as efficient reversible logic design, missing data analysis, stochastic computation and neural network representation for eccentric sphere models. Each paper describes a detailed experiment or a case study of the methodology presented to amplify the impact of the contribution.

Book excerpt: The main objective of ICMAET 2013 is to provide a platform for researchers, engineers, academicians as well as industrial professionals from all over the world to present their research results and development activities in Materials, Architecture, Agriculture Science, Environment Engineering and Engineering Technology. This conference provides opportunities for the delegates to exchange new ideas and experiences face to face, to establish business or research relations and to find global partners for future collaboration. ICMAET 2013 received over 350 submissions which were all reviewed by at least two reviewers. As a result of our highly selective review process about 130 papers have been retained for inclusion in the ICMAET 2013 proceedings, less than 40% of the submitted papers. The program of ICMAET 2013 consists of invited sessions, and technical workshops and discussions covering a wide range of topics. This rich program provides all attendees with the opportunities to meet and interact with one another. We hope your experience is a fruitful and long lasting one. With your support and participation, the conference will continue its success for a long time. The conference is supported by many universities and research institutes. Many professors play an important role in the successful holding of the conference, so we would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude and highest respects to them. They have worked very hard in reviewing papers and making valuable suggestions for the authors to improve their work. We also would like to express our gratitude to the external reviewers, for providing extra help in the review process, and to the authors for contributing their research result to the conference. Special thanks go to our publisher DEStech Publication

This book was released on 1989-04-26 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Lecture Notes volume is based on the "International Workshop on High Performance Transaction Systems" held in the Asilomar Conference Center, September 28-30, 1987. Many of the problems identified during the workshop are liable to determine the future development of transaction systems and distributed high performance systems in general for many years to come. So the organizers of HPTS '87 felt encouraged to collect the papers presented at the workshop in order to make them accessible to a wider audience of interested developers and researchers. Since some of the contributions represented work in progress, the authors agreed to prepare revised and updated versions of their papers for this publication. This accounts for the long delay between the event itself and the publication, but on the other hand it provides the reader with a state-of-the-art account of transaction processing topics. The book is organized according to the major sections of the workshop. In the network section the reader finds an analysis of two of the major "paradigms" in networking, ISO/OSI and SNA, from the perspective of transaction processing. In the next section four different transaction processing and database systems are described: Model 204 - a database management system marketed by Computer Corporation of America, Tandem's NonStop SQL, Citicorp's transaction processing system and ALCS, which basically is a version of TPF running under MVS/XA. The section on architectural issues contains four very different contributions which are fairly representative of the type of problems in transaction systems investigated in the research community. Finally, performance evaluations and system comparisons are presented.
