Book Synopsis Developing Technical Training by : Ruth C. Clark
Download or read book Developing Technical Training written by Ruth C. Clark and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-01-11 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since it was first published almost twenty years ago, Developing Technical Training has been a reliable resource for both new and seasoned training specialists. The third edition of this classic book outlines a systematic approach called the Instructional Systems Design (ISD) process that shows how to teach technical content defined as facts, concepts, processes, procedures, and principles. Whether you teach “hard” or “soft” skills, or design lessons for workbooks or computers, you will find the best training methods in this book. Using these techniques, you can create learning environments that will lead to the most efficient and effective acquisition of new knowledge and skills. Throughout the book, Clark defines each content type and illustrates how to implement the best instructional methods for delivery in either print or e-learning media.
Book Synopsis Soft Skills Training by : Frederick H. Wentz
Download or read book Soft Skills Training written by Frederick H. Wentz and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2012-05-14 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I was hired by a major university to teach recently released offenders how to become employed. I walked into my first class intending to follow the lead of all the other job training programs in the city, which was teaching the students to properly fill out applications, write resumes, facilitate mock interviews, and locate employment opportunities. After the first couple of classes, most of the students were either not paying attention or sleeping. I quickly realized my presentation needed to be interesting, challenging, beneficial, and actually guide the participants on how to remain employed. However, I was unable to find any published material for teaching new hires the soft skills necessary to keep a job. This workbook is a compilation of the soft skills class material I have developed over an eighteen year period. I have used this material with great success and have taught soft skills in schools, inner-city church programs, nonprofits, and government funded job training programs. It is a unique collection of essays, exercises, quotes, and maxims that will give students a realistic perspective on work-related expectations and the expectations of the supervisors who hire them. It will help students develop their problem solving skills, guide them in making appropriate decisions, and create a desire to plan out goals and achieve them. The workbook style is challenging and playful, serious and engaging and a stepping stone to developing the cognitive skills necessary to quash unproductive thinking and self-defeating emotional behaviors.

Book excerpt: This is an essential title in the toolkit of any writer of English for Specific Purposes materials. No two English learners have the same requirements in the world of ESP. As a result, ESP teachers often find that generic published material doesn't work and that they need to write material for the specific needs of their students. This book examines the principle areas of concern for the ESP materials-writer: real-world tasks, authentic materials, vocabulary and ultimately the need to maximize opportunities for learners to improve language performance in their given professional environment. This book provides: - a simple but adaptable framework to help you design your own ESP materials, regardless of the area in which you teach.- examples from a wide variety of ESP fields.- practical tasks with detailed keys and a glossary.- a guide to highlight the different steps involved in producing your own ESP materials. This book forms part of the ELT Teacher 2 Writer training course. The course is designed to help you write better ELT materials, either for publication, or simply to improve the quality of your self-produced classroom materials
