The cases of amputations require a period sometimes as long as several months before the prosthetic appliance may be finally adjusted and fitted to the stump. During this period occupational therapy, with its properly directed exercises, must develop whatever latent power there is in the stump. Characteristic of all these groups of patients is their chronic.nature in almost every instance, a lengthy postoperative treatment. The crippling nature of the injury, its long duration, the apparent inability to earn a livelihood, have all depressed the patient to a marked degree.1 OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY AND THE WAR INVALID. ISCO-08 classifies jobs into 436 unit groups.
