Book Synopsis Vehicle Powertrain Systems by : David Crolla
Download or read book Vehicle Powertrain Systems written by David Crolla and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-12-30 with total page 563 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The powertrain is at the heart of vehicle design; the engine – whether it is a conventional, hybrid or electric design – provides the motive power, which is then managed and controlled through the transmission and final drive components. The overall powertrain system therefore defines the dynamic performance and character of the vehicle. The design of the powertrain has conventionally been tackled by analyzing each of the subsystems individually and the individual components, for example, engine, transmission and driveline have received considerable attention in textbooks over the past decades. The key theme of this book is to take a systems approach – to look at the integration of the components so that the whole powertrain system meets the demands of overall energy efficiency and good drivability. Vehicle Powertrain Systems provides a thorough description and analysis of all the powertrain components and then treats them together so that the overall performance of the vehicle can be understood and calculated. The text is well supported by practical problems and worked examples. Extensive use is made of the MATLAB(R) software and many example programmes for vehicle calculations are provided in the text. Key features: Structured approach to explaining the fundamentals of powertrain engineering Integration of powertrain components into overall vehicle design Emphasis on practical vehicle design issues Extensive use of practical problems and worked examples Provision of MATLAB(R) programmes for the reader to use in vehicle performance calculations This comprehensive and integrated analysis of vehicle powertrain engineering provides an invaluable resource for undergraduate and postgraduate automotive engineering students and is a useful reference for practicing engineers in the vehicle industry

Book Synopsis Stats: Data and Models, Global Edition by : Paul Velleman
Download or read book Stats: Data and Models, Global Edition written by Paul Velleman and published by Pearson Higher Ed. This book was released on 2016-09-29 with total page 992 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Richard De Veaux, Paul Velleman, and David Bock wrote Stats: Data and Models with the goal that students and instructors have as much fun reading it as they did writing it. Maintaining a conversational, humorous, and informal writing style, this new edition engages students from the first page. The authors focus on statistical thinking throughout the text and rely on technology for calculations. As a result, students can focus on developing their conceptual understanding. Innovative Think/Show/Tell examples give students a problem-solving framework and, more importantly, a way to think through any statistics problem and present their results. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lightweight Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Design covers the particular automotive design approach required for hybrid/electrical drive vehicles. There is currently huge investment world-wide in electric vehicle propulsion, driven by concern for pollution control and depleting oil resources. The radically different design demands of these new vehicles requires a completely new approach that is covered comprehensively in this book. The book explores the rather dramatic departures in structural configuration necessary for purpose-designed electric vehicle including weight removal in the mechanical systems. It also provides a comprehensive review of the design process in the electric hybrid drive and energy storage systems. Ideal for automotive engineering students and professionals Lightweight Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Design provides a complete introduction to this important new sector of the industry. Comprehensive coverage of all design aspects of electric/hybrid cars in a single volume Packed with case studies and applications In-depth treatment written in a text book style (rather than a theoretical specialist text style)

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Automotive Computer Controlled Systems' explains the fundamental principles of engineering that lie behind the operation of vehicle electronic systems. Having obtained this knowledge, the reader will be able to make full use of the diagnostic equipment which is currently available. The book builds on the concepts contained in Vehicle Electronic Systems and Fault Diagnosis and gives clear steps to fault diagnosis and subsequent repair of the vehicle's electronic systems. The author discusses electronics only within the context of the vehicle systems under consideration, and thus keeps theory to a minimum. Allan Bonnick has written articles for several transport/vehicle journals and carries out consultancy work for the Institute of Road Transport Engineers. In addition, he has had many years teaching experience and is ideally placed to write this informative guide.
Book Synopsis Mechanical Problems in Measuring Force and Mass by : H. Wieringa
Download or read book Mechanical Problems in Measuring Force and Mass written by H. Wieringa and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nowadays electrical force transducers, in which various electrical conversion principles are applied, are widely used. Transducers for forces from 1N till 10 MN are commercially available and used for industrial as well as research purposes. They not only serve to measure forces but also for weighing purposes. Directly converting a force into an electrical signal is not possible. This must be done step by step. For instance, in a strain gauge based transducer the conversion chain is: force - stress - strain - resistance change - bridge output. At every conversion point in this chain parasatic influences can interfere with the results and may cause a loss in accuracy. To surmount the problems related to obtaining sufficient accuracy and reliability for these transducers, much research has been done allover the world in the past 35 years. As a result, new materials, new techniques, improved constructional designs and compensation circuits have been found to overcome the parasitic influences. The object of the IMEKO Conferences on behalf of the Technical Committee on Measurement of Force and Mass (TC-3) is to exchange experiences, to discuss problems and to obtain knowledge about practical applications. In this book the papers have been collected that will be discussed at the 11th International Conference on Measurement of Force and Mass. The topic of this conference is "Mechanical Problems in Measuring Force and Mass".
