Book excerpt: MURDER AND CONSPIRACY Book: MURDER AND CONSPIRACY LANGUAGE: ENGLISH HINDI: MURDER AND CONSPIRACY GENERE: FICTION AUTHOR: NIDHI GUPTA "SARKAR" ISBN - 978-93-5526-004-8 (9789355260048) Nidhi Gupta is a writer of versatility. While she has run her pen on many prose genres like novel, story, essay etc., she has also written many poems. She did her graduation in English Literature. But she has command in both languages, Hindi and English. To reaches masses, she uses both languages for her writing. She believed that it is easier to express one's thoughts in the mother tongue. In her works, she has written on subjects like art, philosophy, psychology, society, nation, humanity etc. Language and writing style of Nidhi Gupta: There are two forms of the language of Nidhi Gupta - the language is simple and easy to understand, in an intelligible form. But at some places the language becomes classical, while the words of the language have been selected prominently according to the character and place of the story. Talking about the style, it keeps changing according to the theme. Sometimes it becomes descriptive, sometimes it becomes reflective. Her stories are not limited to any particular country or place, in her stories, she sometimes take the reader to Kashmir in India, and sometimes China or Iraq. She has written those stories by portraying different people from all over the world. In addition, the impact of contemporary events is also reflected. The issues of women are clearly visible in her stories. Whether it is China's Uyghur community or the Iraq War, women have suffered instability and the effects of war. (Story: Daughter of Iraq and In the Clutches of the Dragon). The continuing terrorism in Kashmir also had a negative impact on the women there, which was a subject of the author's stories. (Story: To Regret). Apart from this, women also have to bear the brunt of domestic violence and sexual abuse, whether it is from the husband or the father (story: Murder of the Father) If a woman wants to achieve a position in society by making a goal for her, she has to surrender to the wrong desires of the people, which ultimately lead to degradation and exploitation (Story: Gangster Wife). Even, if she refuses to bow down to them, she has to bear the fire of other's ego, jealousy and fire of revenge. (Story: Revenge of Love, Those closeness). But in every case, despite suffering, the struggle and protest against oppression and tyranny is depicted. She has chosen the words in her stories very carefully. And used very clean words. Because of this, not only the stories can be read for healthy entertainment, but it can also be learnt how to make the story interesting without using any vulgar words, and also without abusing. About This Book This book gets you started with the exciting world of C++ programming It will enable you to write C++ code that uses the standard library, has a level of object orientation, and uses memory in a safe and effective way It forms the basis of programming and covers concepts such as data structures and the core programming language Who This Book Is For A computer, an internet connection, and the desire to learn how to code in C++ is all you need to get started with this book. What You Will Learn Get familiar with the structure of C++ projects Identify the main structures in the language: functions and classes Feel confident about being able to identify the execution flow through the code Be aware of the facilities of the standard library Gain insights into the basic concepts of object orientation Know how to debug your programs Get acquainted with the standard C++ library In Detail C++ has come a long way and is now adopted in several contexts. Its key strengths are its software infrastructure and resource-constrained applications, including desktop applications, servers, and performance-critical applications, not to forget its importance in game programming. Despite its strengths in these areas, beginners usually tend to shy away from learning the language because of its steep learning curve. The main mission of this book is to make you familiar and comfortable with C++. You will finish the book not only being able to write your own code, but more importantly, you will be able to read other projects. It is only by being able to read others' code that you will progress from a beginner to an advanced programmer. This book is the first step in that progression. The first task is to familiarize you with the structure of C++ projects so you will know how to start reading a project. Next, you will be able to identify the main structures in the language, functions, and classes, and feel confident being able to identify the execution flow through the code. You will then become aware of the facilities of the standard library and be able to determine whether you need to write a routine yourself, or use an existing routine in the standard library. Throughout the book, there is a big emphasis on memory and pointers. You will understand memory usage, allocation, and access, and be able to write code that does not leak memory. Finally, you will learn about C++ classes and get an introduction to object orientation and polymorphism. Style and approach This straightforward tutorial will help you build strong skills in C++ programming, be it for enterprise software or for low-latency applications such as games or embedded programming. Filled with examples, this book will take you gradually up the steep learning curve of C++.

Book excerpt: #1 NEW YORK TIMES, WALL STREET JOURNAL, AND BOSTON GLOBE BESTSELLER • One of the most acclaimed books of our time: an unforgettable memoir about a young woman who, kept out of school, leaves her survivalist family and goes on to earn a PhD from Cambridge University “Extraordinary . . . an act of courage and self-invention.”—The New York Times NAMED ONE OF THE TEN BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY THE NEW YORK TIMES BOOK REVIEW • ONE OF PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA’S FAVORITE BOOKS OF THE YEAR • BILL GATES’S HOLIDAY READING LIST • FINALIST: National Book Critics Circle’s Award In Autobiography and John Leonard Prize For Best First Book • PEN/Jean Stein Book Award • Los Angeles Times Book Prize Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University. Only then would she wonder if she’d traveled too far, if there was still a way home. “Beautiful and propulsive . . . Despite the singularity of [Westover’s] childhood, the questions her book poses are universal: How much of ourselves should we give to those we love? And how much must we betray them to grow up?”—Vogue NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY The Washington Post • O: The Oprah Magazine • Time • NPR • Good Morning America • San Francisco Chronicle • The Guardian • The Economist • Financial Times • Newsday • New York Post • theSkimm • Refinery29 • Bloomberg • Self • Real Simple • Town & Country • Bustle • Paste • Publishers Weekly • Library Journal • LibraryReads • Book Riot • Pamela Paul, KQED • New York Public Library

Eleven years ago, six kindergartners went missing without a trace. After all that time, the people left behind moved on, or tried to. Until today. Today five of those kids return. They're sixteen, and they are . . . fine. Scarlett comes home and finds a mom she barely recognizes, and doesn't really recognize the person she's supposed to be, either. But she thinks she remembers Lucas. Lucas remembers Scarlett, too, except they're entirely unable to recall where they've been or what happened to them. Neither of them remember the sixth victim, Max--the only one who hasn't come back. Which leaves Max's sister, Avery, wanting answers. She wants to find her brother--dead or alive--and isn't buying this whole memory-loss story. But as details of the disappearance begin to unfold, no one is prepared for the truth. This unforgettable novel--with its rich characters, high stakes, and plot twists--will leave readers breathless.

Book excerpt: The delicious horror of Ransom Riggs and the sass of Mean Girls meets Titanic in this follow-up to the #1 New York Times bestseller How to Hang a Witch, in which a contemporary teen finds herself a passenger on the famous “ship of dreams”—a story made all the more fascinating because the author’s own relatives survived the doomed voyage. Samantha Mather knew her family’s connection to the infamous Salem Witch Trials might pose obstacles to an active social life. But having survived one curse, she never thought she’d find herself at the center of a new one. This time, Sam is having recurring dreams about the Titanic . . . where she’s been walking the deck with first-class passengers, like her aunt and uncle. Meanwhile, in Sam’s waking life, strange missives from the Titanic have been finding their way to her, along with haunting visions of people who went down with the ship. Ultimately, Sam and the Descendants, along with some help from heartthrob Elijah, must unravel who is behind the spell that is drawing her ever further into the dream ship . . . and closer to sharing the same grim fate as its ghostly passengers. Praise for How to Hang a Witch: “It’s like Mean Girls meets history class in the best possible way.” —Seventeen “Mather shines a light on the lessons the Salem Witch Trials can teach us about modern-day bullying—and what we can do about it.” —Bustle.com “Strikes a careful balance of creepy, fun, and thoughtful.” —NPR “I am utterly addicted to Adriana Mather’s electric debut. It keeps you on the edge of your seat, twisting and turning with ghosts, witches, an ancient curse, and—sigh—romance. It’s beautiful. Haunting. The characters are vivid and real. I. Could. Not. Put. It. Down.” —Jennifer Niven, bestselling author of All the Bright Places

Book excerpt: Hugo and Shirley Jackson award-winning Peter Watts stands on the cutting edge of hard SF with his acclaimed novel, Blindsight Two months since the stars fell... Two months of silence, while a world held its breath. Now some half-derelict space probe, sparking fitfully past Neptune's orbit, hears a whisper from the edge of the solar system: a faint signal sweeping the cosmos like a lighthouse beam. Whatever's out there isn't talking to us. It's talking to some distant star, perhaps. Or perhaps to something closer, something en route. So who do you send to force introductions with unknown and unknowable alien intellect that doesn't wish to be met? You send a linguist with multiple personalities, her brain surgically partitioned into separate, sentient processing cores. You send a biologist so radically interfaced with machinery that he sees x-rays and tastes ultrasound. You send a pacifist warrior in the faint hope she won't be needed. You send a monster to command them all, an extinct hominid predator once called vampire, recalled from the grave with the voodoo of recombinant genetics and the blood of sociopaths. And you send a synthesist—an informational topologist with half his mind gone—as an interface between here and there. Pray they can be trusted with the fate of a world. They may be more alien than the thing they've been sent to find. At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.
