Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Provides the latest AISI North American specifications for cold-formed steel design Hailed by professionals around the world as the definitive text on the design of cold-formed steel, this book provides descriptions of the construction and structural behavior of cold-formed steel members and connections from both theoretical and experimental points of view. Updated to reflect the 2016 AISI North American specification and 2015 North American framing standards, this all-new fifth edition offers readers a better understanding of the analysis and design of the thin-walled, cold-formed steel structures that have been widely used in building construction and other areas in recent years. Cold-Formed Steel Design, 5th Edition has been revised and reorganized to incorporate the Direct Strength Method. It discusses the reasons and justification for the various design provisions of the North American specification and framing design standards. It provides chapter coverage of: the types of steels and their most important mechanical properties; the fundamentals of buckling modes; commonly used terms; the design of flexural members, compression members and closed cylindrical tubes, and of beam–columns using ASD, LRFD, and LSD methods; shear diaphragms and shell roof structures; standard corrugated sheets; and more. Updated to the 2016 North American (AISI S100) design specification and 2015 North American (AISI S240) design standard Offers thorough coverage of ASD, LRFD, LSD, and DSM design methods Integrates DSM in the main body of design provisions Features a new section on Power-Actuated Fastener (PAF) Connections Provides new examples and explanations of design provisions Cold-Formed Steel Design, 5th Edition is not only instructive for students, but can serve as a major source of reference for structural engineers, researchers, architects, and construction managers.

Book Synopsis Coupled Instabilities in Metal Structures by : Jacques Rondal
Download or read book Coupled Instabilities in Metal Structures written by Jacques Rondal and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-05-04 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of the book is to fill up the gaps between theoretical, numerical, and practical design approaches in the field of coupled instabilities of metal structures. The book is organized in a way leading progressively from the mathematical basic theories to the design aspects through numerical and semi-empirical approaches of the interactive buckling of metal structures. Optimum design account taken of coupled instabilities and code aspects are also briefly covered.
Book Synopsis Thin-Walled Structures by : J.Y. Richard Liew
Download or read book Thin-Walled Structures written by J.Y. Richard Liew and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1998-11-27 with total page 841 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thin-plated structures are used extensively in building construction, automobile, aircraft, shipbuilding and other industries because of a number of favourable factors such as high strength-weight ratio, development of new materials and processes and the availability of efficient analytical methods. This class of structure is made by joining thin plates together at their edges and they rely for their rigidity and strength upon the tremendous stiffness and load-carrying capacity of the flat plates from which they are made. Many of the problems encountered in these structures arise because of the effects of local buckling. The knowledge of various facets of this phenomenon has increased dramatically since the 1960s. Problem areas which were hitherto either too complex for rigorous analysis or whose subtleties were not fully realized have in these years been subjected to intensive study. Great advances have been made in the areas of inelastic buckling. The growth in use of lightweight strong materials, such as fibre-reinforced plastics has also been a contributory factor towards the need for advances in the knowledge of the far post-buckling range. The conference is a sequel to the international conference organised by the University of Strathclyde in December 1996 and this international gathering will provide the opportunity for discussion of recent developments and trends in design of thin-walled structures.

Book Synopsis Proceedings of the Third International Conference on Coupled Instabilities in Metal Structures by : Dinar Camotim
Download or read book Proceedings of the Third International Conference on Coupled Instabilities in Metal Structures written by Dinar Camotim and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2000 with total page 752 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The subject of coupled instabilities is a fascinating field of research with a wide range of practical applications, particularly in the analysis and design of metal structures. Despite the excellent body of existing results concerning coupled instability structural behaviour, this situation has not yet been adequately translated into design rules or specifications. In fact, only to a small extent do modern design codes for metal structures take advantage of the significant progress made in the field. This book, which contains all the invited general reports and selected papers presented at the Third International Conference on "Coupled Instabilities in Metal Structures". (CIMS '2000), should provide a meaningful contribution towards filling the gap between research and practice.
Book Synopsis Design of Steel Structures (Vol. 1) by : Ramchandra
Download or read book Design of Steel Structures (Vol. 1) written by Ramchandra and published by Scientific Publishers. This book was released on 2016-01-01 with total page 1010 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Twelfth edition, 2009 of this book is based on IS: 800-2007 and also newly revised IS: 883-1994 (code of practice for timber structures). New code of practice, IS: 800 is likely to be issued soon. It is likely to introduce ``Limit State Design of Steel Structures''. Authors have distributed the text in thirty four chapters in main text and one chapter `on Location of Shear Centre' in Appendix A. Concept of Shear Centre and bending axis is important and significant and essentially needed to understand simple theory of bending and so also unsymmetrical bending. Complete-text has been updated and new matter added (e.g., elastic buckling, inelastic, stability and instability of columns and compression members, torsional-buckling, torsional-flexural buckling, etc.). Behaviour of web-stiffeners and web-panels specially near the end panels, tension-field action has been first time included to familiarise the students with the concept. Durability of steel members have been emphasized phenomenon of corrosion has been distinctly explained.
