Book Synopsis Studies in Rashi by : Menachem Mendel Schneerson
Download or read book Studies in Rashi written by Menachem Mendel Schneerson and published by Kehot Publication Society. This book was released on 2003 with total page 107 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Lubavitcher Rebbe developed a unique approach to the study of Rashi, the primary Torah commentator. With stunning attention to Rashi's linguistic precision, the Rebbe unwrapped often enigmatic phrases, revealing the depth of their meaning, and, in the process, cast a brilliantly luminous light on his commentary that uncovered myriad halachic, philosophic and mystical insights. In Studies in Rashi, two such commentaries are explored, Leviticus 5:21 and Genesis 1:1. In the former, the Rebbe explains how a wealth of knowledge is to be learned from a seemingly extra vav, and in the latter, entitled The Land of Israel, the Rebbe demonstrates how Rashi's commentary delineates how the position of every phrase in Rashi is important. This great body of work has heretofore been accessible only to those studying the Rebbe's original Hebrew and Yiddish printed texts.
Book Synopsis Sacred Fire by : Kalonymus Kalmish Shapira
Download or read book Sacred Fire written by Kalonymus Kalmish Shapira and published by Jason Aronson. This book was released on 2002-08-22 with total page 426 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sacred Fire: Torah from the Years of Fury (1939-1942) consists of commentaries on each weekly Torah portion. It also includes a number of lengthy sermons delivered on the major Jewish Festivals as well as a few discourses alluding to people loved and lost. Because writing is not permitted on the Sabbath, these "words of Torah" were transcribed from memory, after the Sabbath or festival had ended. Although the pages of Sacred Fire are not stained with the names of its author's tormentors, there are numerous references to historical events through which parallels can be drawn. Rabbi Shapira often refers, for example, to the binding of Isaac and the martyrdom of Rabbi Akiba. Sacred Fire forms a religious, spiritual response to the Holocaust that speaks from the heart of the darkness. In doing so, it may well form the basis for what could one day become Judaism's formal liturgical response to the events that occurred during those years of fury.

Book Synopsis I Await His Coming Every Day by : Menachem Mendel Schneerson
Download or read book I Await His Coming Every Day written by Menachem Mendel Schneerson and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Maimonides' well-known 13 principles of faith includes the statement: "I believe with perfect faith in the coming of the Mashiach. Even if he delays, I will wait every day for him to come." What does it mean to "wait every day?" Going to the primary source, Maimonides' Mishneh Torah, this book assembles selected translations alongside the vocalized Hebrew text and presents them together with five discourses of the Lubavitcher Rebbe that illuminate these chapters. The discourses deal with the function of Mashiach, the nature of the Biblical sources that foretell the Redemption, prophecies concerning Mashiach, and an explanation of "the ultimate good of the era of the Redemption."
