El segundo está enfocado en la comprensión e interpretación de la topografía corneal. El tercer capítulo presenta algunos aspectos de las dos investigaciones dirigidas y desarrolladas por el autor, relacionados con la adaptación de lentes de contacto rígidos, apoyándose en la interpretación del mapa topográfico. La primera trata sobre la identificación del tipo de queratocono, analizando el tamaño de la ectasia, para seleccionar, de acuerdo con esta, el diseño de la curva base y el diámetro. La segunda, la selección de los parámetros principales de adaptación de lentes rígidos de curva base esférica para pacientes con córneas irregulares posteriores a cirugía refractiva de tipo láser.
