Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The prophets of the Old Testament include such well-known characters as Isaiah, Jeremiah, Amos, and Hosea. There are, however, many other prophets, both in the biblical books that bear their names and in the other histories and stories of ancient Israel. Carolyn Sharp offers a brief introduction to each of the Bible's prophets and their prophetic books, developing the theological themes present in each with an eye toward how the prophetic message is relevant today. The For Today series was designed to provide reliable and accessible resources for the study and real life application of important biblical texts, theological documents, and Christian practices. The emphasis of the series is not only on the realization and appreciation of what these subjects have meant in the past, but also on their value in the present--"for today." Thought-provoking questions are included at the end of each chapter, making the books ideal for personal study and group use.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This critique provides a framework for understanding and interpreting the widespread but little-known New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) movement. As the authors state in the preface: "We write this book with two major goals in mind. First, to give people an idea of the sheer size and reach of the NAR movement. And second, to systematize its key teachings and practices and evaluate them on the basis of Scripture and careful reasoning . . In our judgment, the NAR perspective crosses these boundaries [that is, certain broad parameters, revealed in Scripture and practiced in the historical orthodox church], and it does so in part because of flawed theology rooted in a flawed understanding of Scripture. We wish to warn readers about a possible confusion: Some critics have linked the NAR movement with mainstream Pentecostalism and charismatics. We do not do this. In fact, it is our contention that the NAR movement deviates from classical Pentecostal and charismatic teachings. This movement has emerged out of independent charismatic churches and, thus, has gained a foothold in many of those churches in varying degrees."

Book excerpt: I went to coffee with two Baptist women and one of them told me pastor was building a new church building. She went on to say there was a woman in their church group who was often against the pastor in his projects. She said to me, "What do you think might be wrong with this woman?" Without any thought at all I replied, "Maybe she's a prophet." ***** Most people in churches today do not have any understanding of New Testament prophets and the work they are set in the body of Christ to do by the will of God. (Many churches do not even realize there are apostles and prophets in today's church.) But the Bible says: After Jesus arose, HE gave to the church five ministry offices: Ephesians 4:11-12 HE gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: ***** In the OT, the people went to a prophet to inquire of God to see what God wanted them to do. In the NT, each person who believes in God is given the Spirit of God to show the person the heart of God in the issues pertaining to this present life. I Corinthians 2 & Ephesians 1 Jesus said the Holy Spirit would do the following work for the believer. - teach us all things - remind us of words of Jesus - guide us into all truth - show us things to come (John 14:26 & John 16:13) This equips us to know the way of God for us as we live on this earth. ***** So what do prophets in the church do today? In this book, several examples from Old and New Testaments are presented showing the assignments God gave prophets. It is a bit like walking a tight rope without a net, for the prophet warns people, often without visible evidence. God often gives His prophet spiritual gifts of word of knowledge, word of wisdom, and discerning of spirits to help the church. I Corinthians 12 A prophet just knows without knowing how he knows. (but as God wills) A major work of a prophet is to warn the church as we see in Acts 11 & Acts 20. ***** Several years ago, one of our church members was going to marry. Two of us prophets in our church group warned her. She postponed the wedding. Then the man she planned to marry told her about his son who was going to marry a woman who was divorced. Our church member spoke up saying that Jesus said the man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery. Matthew 5:32 Her fiancé did not believe the scripture although he said he was a Christian. And after she spoke this scripture, he no longer wanted to marry her. Years later, she rejoiced at having been spared a wedding she felt would have been disastrous. ***** As John the Baptist went before Jesus to prepare HIS ways in the first coming of Jesus, we, HIS prophets go before HIM to prepare the church for the second coming of Jesus, delivering warnings and corrections to help the church to repent and be ready for Jesus. It is a very important work of God. That is the subject of this book: The work of prophets in the NT church today. Joan Boney ... apostle/prophet

Book excerpt: Daily Life and Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) He was the highest example for humanity. He was the eminence of humanity in morals and habits. He presented humanity's best course of action in every sphere of life. From childhood to youth, youth to prophethood, and from prophethood to death, every moment of his life is worthy of imitation and obedience. Looking at every corner of his life, he is a shining example of truth, trust, honesty, loyalty, and piety. The world knows him as the last Messenger of Allah, Muhammad Mustafa (peace be upon him). Allah Almighty has sent the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) as an exemplary model and has instructed people to be themselves according to this model in every field of life, in every era, in every situation, and in worship, affairs, society, and habits as well as try to convince others to follow his example. This verse, "Indeed, there is a good example for you in the Messenger of Allah." That's what it means. As if the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, his biography and blessed habits are a practical Quran. Islam is a comprehensive religion, and the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) teachings and his life are a complete example, shedding light on every aspect of human life and providing us with guidance and solution to all the problems that human beings may face in their lives. Therefore, for humanity to flourish and prosper in the future and progress, it is inevitable to follow Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as a paradigm for a perfect human being. This book is written with all the above facts to provide a comprehensive collection of the Prophet’s daily life, habits, traits, dealings, and affairs. It sheds light on the Prophet (peace be upon him) as a father, brother, husband, and friend. It also tells us how the Prophet (peace be upon him) was as a trader, merchant, statesman, ruler, and politician. I hope this book will provide better insight into the life of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and inspire people to follow in his footsteps in every aspect of life.

The New Testament prophet has something that we did not have in the Old Testament. Pay very close attention as Apostle Colette uncovers an amazing mystery, separating the Old Testament prophet from the New Testament prophet. In this book, you will hear all about: The definition of the Old Testament prophet The functions of the New Testament prophet The profile of the Prophet in Office The difference between prophetic orientation and prophetic office The reason the Prophet is stripped of everything The battlefield after Prophetic office Get ready for a revolution as Colette walks you through the evolvement of the prophet, shares with you their function in the Church today, and makes clear the responsibilities that they are called to accomplish on behalf of God's people.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Could an ancient prophet hold a present key that will reveal the future? Jeremiah was an Old Testament voice, but he still speaks to our day. Alone and living in a time of chaos, he was a prophet and Levitical priest whose fellow priests and prophets wanted him dead. In fact, everyone wanted him dead--the political leaders, his neighbors, and even his family. At twenty-three years old Jeremiah was told to speak truth to power and not to worry what the consequences may be. God told him that people love to praise the Lord but refuse to do what He says. In spite of the judgments cascading upon the heads of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Lord promised a new covenant with Israel and Judah that would revolutionize their walk with Him. In Decoding the Prophet Jeremiah you will discover the following: The warnings from God in Jeremiah's day are for our generation as well. Even when you feel betrayed by everyone, there is still hope. God keeps His covenant and will never leave you or forsake you. This book is a clarion call to all believers. We need to see the bigger picture: it is not about us but about God's heart and God's kingdom. God is looking for warriors who are about advancing His kingdom by storming the gates of hell and setting His sons and daughters free from the clutches of the greatest narcissist of all time. Mark Biltz unpacks two books of the Bible written by the prophet Jeremiah: the Book of Lamentations and the Book of Jeremiah. Biltz has uncovered fascinating Hebraic codes within Lamentations, making this a truly unique message for readers. This book will encourage you to persevere in your faith despite cultural shifts and pressures, much like what the prophet Jeremiah did.
