Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the heart of this study is a biblical-theological approach to central passages on intercessory prayers in the OT. After examining these largely prophetic prayer dialogues, Widmer argues that they provide an important key to biblical theology and spirituality. Furthermore, a close reading of prayers by Abraham, Moses, Samuel, David, Solomon, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Joel, and Amos reveals fascinating insights into the portrayals of these characters and confirms strong conceptual associations with Moses, Israel’s archetypal mediator. Widmer reads these prayers in both their immediate literary and wider canonical contexts. The ultimate aim of this study is to gain a deeper understanding of the God whom the church worships and confesses to be the Father of Jesus Christ. Particularly pertinent is the finding that many OT prayers interact with God’s nature as revealed to Moses in Exod 34:6–7. Yhwh’s fullest revelation is also given in the context of an intercessory prayer. Widmer argues that intercessory prayer and theology have a hermeneutical-spiral relationship, mutually informing and correcting each other. It is in engaging with a loving and holy God that the phenomenon of divine mutability must be understood. Overall, Standing in the Breach suggests that fundamental biblical themes such as God’s mercy and judgment, divine retribution and forgiveness, covenant mediation, substitutionary suffering and atonement, and eventually the dynamics of the cross are all intrinsically related to and illuminated by prophetic OT intercessory prayers.

Wisconsin, 1933--When a routine mission becomes an ambush that kills his team, Craft Agency sniper Miles Wright determines to find the persons responsible and protect the woman he rescued. But the fierce independence that led Lily Moore to leave her family's dairy business for the solitary life of a dog trainer and the isolation of her farm don't make that easy. Neither does his unwanted attraction to her. Meanwhile, escalating incidents confirm that she's far from safe. Lily fears letting the surprisingly gentle retired marine into her life almost as much as she fears whoever is threatening her. As Wisconsin farmers edge toward another milk strike, one that will surely turn violent, it becomes clear that the plot against Lily may be part of a much larger conspiracy. When the search for her abductor leads close to home, she must decide whether to trust her family or the man who saved her life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This is not for the faint of heart, nor for Christians who want to be entertained. This is for hungry Bible students seeking vast, deep answers to a vast, deep subject""the all-important subject of Love. This book could and should be the standalone text for an 8 credit hour college course, mandatory for every accredited Bible student. And, it is a must for every layman who wants to understand the most important teachings of the Bible on a serious level." - Jesse Steele, Moody Bible Institute Alum This book is offered to help you love the Lord with your whole heart and to better know your Creator. It is intended to help clarify some lingering misunderstandings that trace back far into biblical history. The book deals with the righteousness and holiness of God as seen in His laws, but from a New Covenant perspective: love. Showing the distinction between the dispensational Law of Moses and the eternal and unchanging Law of God, the book focuses on love, as love is the focus of both the Law of God and the Law of Moses (Rom. 13:8). It's all about loving God with all your heart and loving your neighbor as yourself, even loving your enemy. With man this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible. These matters have the greatest bearing on our future reward in the heavenly kingdom and upon the power of our ministry today. With a clearer view of this line in the Bible, it is our prayer that we will all stand more confidently as we await and hasten the return of our Lord. Seek first his kingdom and its righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. The book also covers emerging research regarding the 364-day calendar of the books of 1st Enoch and Jubilees, and how to manage it in a 365-day context. I think you will enjoy studying this with us. Think about it, your Creator wants to have dates with you, on the dates that his feasts have been observed in the heavens since creation. As we journeyed through these things I was humbled to receive seven dreams from the Lord to help shepherd us through, which I document in the appendix. Several in our extended family have also been warned and encouraged in dreams. The arm of Yahweh is not short to also give you dreams and other works of the coming kingdom. But it all begins with desperate searching in his Word. Keep asking, and you will receive. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you!

Book excerpt: For readers of The Nightingale and Beneath a Scarlet Sky comes a gripping historical thriller set against a fully-realized WWII backdrop about the love a father has for his son and the lengths he is willing to go to find him, from a talented new voice in suspense. Rhys Gravenor, Great War veteran and Welsh sheep farmer, arrives in Paris in the midst of the city's liberation with a worn letter in his pocket that may have arrived years too late. As he follows the footsteps of his missing son across an unfamiliar, war-torn country, he struggles to come to terms with the incident that drove a wedge between the two of them. Joined by Charlotte Dubois, an American ambulance driver with secrets of her own, Rhys discovers that even as liberation sweeps across France, the war is far from over. And his personal war has only begun as he is haunted by memories of previous battles and hampered at every turn by danger and betrayal. In a race against time and the war, Rhys follows his son's trail from Paris to the perilous streets of Vichy to the starving mobs in Lyon to the treacherous Alps. But Rhys is not the only one searching for his son. In a race of his own, a relentless enemy stalks him across the country and will stop at nothing to find the young man first. The country is in tatters, no one is trustworthy, and Rhys must unravel the mystery of his son's wartime actions in the desperate hope of finding him before it's too late. Too late to mend the frayed bond between them. Too late to beg his forgiveness. Too late to bring him home alive.

Drought, earthquake, tsunami. Terrorist atrocities. War, genocide, poverty, famine. All we have to do is live long enough, and we will suffer in one way or another. In this new edition of an excellent, widely appreciated study, Don Carson addresses the issue of evil and suffering with sensitivity, pastoral concern and biblical insight. He helps Christians prepare for the day when they have to experience a 'frowning providence', and face it with faith and hope because of an unshakable trust in the providence of God.

When a breach unexpectedly appears in the wall, spies from both sides swarm to the city as World War III threatens to spark. AFTER THE WAR, THE WALL BROUGHT AN UNEASY PEACE. When Soviet magicians conjured an arcane wall to blockade occupied Berlin, the world was outraged but let it stand for the sake of peace. Now, after ten years of fighting with spies instead of spells, the CIA has discovered the unthinkable... THE WALL IS FAILING. While refugees and soldiers mass along the border, operatives from East and West converge on the most dangerous city in the world to either stop the crisis, or take advantage of it. Karen, a young magician with the American Office of Magical Research and Deployment, is sent to investigate the breach in the Wall and determine if it can be fixed. Instead, she discovers that the truth is elusive in this divided city--and that even magic itself has its own agenda. THE TRUTH OF THE WALL IS ABOUT TO BE REVEALED.

As war has become normalized, armed conflict has become an "abstraction" and military service "something for other people to do." Bacevich takes stock of a nation with an abiding appetite for war waged at enormous expense by a standing army demonstrably unable to achieve victory.

Book excerpt: It is important that girls grow to have a strong sense of identity and purpose rooted in Christ. "A Royal Mission" was created with that purpose in mind. Through striking illustrations and a captivating plot, girls learn about their God-given purpose, how much they are loved, and what it means to serve the King.In this children's book, the reader has the chance to become part of the story. She is asked to insert her name into the pages of the book, making her the protagonist. Her journey begins in a perfect kingdom as a beautiful princess, but she is soon interrupted by a messenger from the King's court who tells her the King wishes to see her. Upon arriving at the palace, the King tasks her with an important mission to a lost world and explains the difficulties she will encounter. The story then weaves through images of her life in the lost world, the details of her mission, and the circumstances of her return to paradise. It is only at the end that girls learn that this loving, powerful King is Jesus. The illustrated images of the King step away from the iconic images of Jesus. Little girls dream of kings, queens, and princesses in faraway lands and this book uses that to help girls understand who Jesus is. "Royal Mission", therefore, portrays Jesus as a regal and powerful King reminiscent of modern-day fairytales, but with the gospel message at its core. It is a book that captures little girls' hearts and helps them see Jesus for who He is, the King of kings. This allegorical story with striking illustrations will help budding princesses understand their role and purpose in God's overarching plan. It is beloved by children and parents alike. It is also an ideal book to introduce girls to Jesus for the first time. The book also includes discussion questions at the end to help girls make the connection between this story and the Biblical record.
