Book Synopsis The File on the Tsar by : Anthony Summers
Download or read book The File on the Tsar written by Anthony Summers and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world was told that the last Tsar of Russia and his family were butchered in the 'cellar massacre' at Ekaterinburg in 1918. Yet diplomats and reporters did not believe it. And the longest court case of the century failed to explode Anna Anderson's claim to be the Tsar's youngest daughter, Grand Duchess Anastasia.Anthony Summers and Tom Mangold spent five years tracking down witnesses and long-lost documents. The search led to Moscow, Tokyo and Washington and their persistence finally paid off when they found a suppressed official dossier - the File on the Tsar. It shows that the public was fed a lie. The Romanovs did not all die at Ekaterinburg, but became pawns in an international power game, involving Lenin, the Kaiser, the British Royal Family and British Intelligence. And in London, over 80 years later, the cover-up goes on.

Download or read book One in a Billion written by Ludan Bone and published by Australian Self Publishing Group. This book was released on 2014 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Ludan Bone started making her phone calls to China in 1993 she was one woman with no contacts trying to sell an intangible, copyrighted product to an industry where royalties were alien. But over the next two decades, she built a formidable business from scratch and became the biggest player in the production music business in China. The business memoir, One in a Billion, charts Ludan’s rise from a part-time marketing manager in Sydney to the head of her own top-tier firm in Beijing with one of the biggest music libraries in the world. It follows her successes and failures, the frequent overhauls in the Chinese broadcasting industry and the practical challenges of operating in the mainland business world. To get where she is today, Ludan had to educate an entire market and convince potential clients that her high-end product would revolutionize their way of working. Production music has transformed broadcasting in China, so much so that few today could do without it. The book also gives insight into mainland culture and offers tips for would-be entrepreneurs, businesspeople in China and anybody trying to make an idea pay on the mainland. The information based on direct experience and applies to all those with a dream of taking an idea into uncharted territory. One in a Billion gives a practical and accessible insider’s look at how a new business idea was turned into a reality against the odds. Ludan’s company, Songba, has risen from obscurity to one of the leading names in professional broadcasting. This book tells the story of an individual entrepreneur and how she relied on her own wits to make her way in China. In addition, it covers three themes that not found together elsewhere but that are more important than ever: copyright, media and music in China.

Book Synopsis Tales of the West Riding by : Phyllis Bentley
Download or read book Tales of the West Riding written by Phyllis Bentley and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2012-09-28 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is a wonderfully wide and multifarious pageant of West Riding life that Phyllis Bentley has spread before us down the years: and now, in Tales of the West Riding (six stories, one of them almost a novel in itself), she enriches it with a number of episodes as vivid as any that have come from her pen. They are dated 1434, 1641, 1845, 1870, 1930 and 1962, and their temporal span is matched by the variety of the emotions they embody. There is, for instance, the quiet but poignant story of a woman's lifelong silence for the sake of an unrequited love: and there is that other story of jealousy in a woman's heart as cruel as the grave. At the beginning of the series, in 1434, Richard Askrode must seek permission from Rome to marry the girl he loves: at the end of it, in 1962 we see in The Hardaker Affair the other side of Room at the Top. In this exciting novella, with its terrible ending, Phyllis Bentley's power of characterisation is seen at its very highest.

Download or read book Kindling 5 written by Michael E. Corcoran and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 507 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The last Kindling Conference was organized by Dr. Juhn Wada and held at the Univer sity of British Columbia, Vancouver, B. C. , in 1989. In the intervening years, research on kin dling has proceeded at an explosive pace and significant advances have been made in our understanding of the molecular biological, anatomical, and physiological substrates of kin dling, as well as in our appreciation of the age-dependent effects and complex behavioral consequences of kindling, its sensitivity to drugs, and its relevance to the clinical epilepsies. In order to review these developments and to provide researchers with an opportunity to in teract face to face and discuss the issues that preoccupy us all, we organized the Fifth Interna tional Conference on Kindling, in Victoria, B. C. , in the summer of 1996. Most of the stalwarts in kindling research were invited, as were a number of investigators whose research on kindling has become prominent in the past few years. We continue to miss the late Graham Goddard, the discoverer of kindling, and were saddened by the recent death of Eric Lothman, a prolific researcher and clinician who would have been a prominent participant. We were deeply disturbed to learn of the death of Frank Morrell, one of the earliest kindlers and an eminent neurologist, who died several months after our conference.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Aussies do say "G'day". At all levels of friendship, all levels of formality and all levels of family familiarity. The first word between two lovers in the morning is "G'day". The other main greeting would have to be "G'day mate". The reason why this brief greeting has such universal acceptance is simple: it's the flies. The longer your mouth is open the more flies that can crawl in.' Xenophobia is an irrational fear of foreigners, probably justified, always understandable. Xenophobe's Guides - an irreverent look at the beliefs and foibles of nations, almost guaranteed to cure Xenophobia. Xenophobe's Motto – Forewarned is forearmed.
