Download or read book Meet Me in Atlantis written by Mark Adams and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2015-03-10 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The New York Times Bestselling Travel Memoir! The author of Turn Right at Machu Picchu travels the globe in search of the world’s most famous lost city. “Adventurous, inquisitive and mirthful, Mark Adams gamely sifts through the eons of rumor, science, and lore to find a place that, in the end, seems startlingly real indeed.”—Hampton Sides A few years ago, Mark Adams made a strange discovery: Far from alien conspiracy theories and other pop culture myths, everything we know about the legendary lost city of Atlantis comes from the work of one man, the Greek philosopher Plato. Stranger still: Adams learned there is an entire global sub-culture of amateur explorers who are still actively and obsessively searching for this sunken city, based entirely on Plato’s detailed clues. What Adams didn’t realize was that Atlantis is kind of like a virus—and he’d been exposed. In Meet Me in Atlantis, Adams racks up frequent-flier miles tracking down these Atlantis obsessives, trying to determine why they believe it's possible to find the world's most famous lost city—and whether any of their theories could prove or disprove its existence. The result is a classic quest that takes readers to fascinating locations to meet irresistible characters; and a deep, often humorous look at the human longing to rediscover a lost world.
Book Synopsis The Pyramids of Atlantis by : Jason Shaw
Download or read book The Pyramids of Atlantis written by Jason Shaw and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Pyramids of Atlantis is a fantasy novel about hope and survival of the human race. But one that incorporates within its story a definite suspicion of truth. In 2020 the body of a time traveler and his malfunctioning time machine materialize in the apartment of the main character. The machines primary task is to help save the world from destruction by aliens who visit this planet seeking friendship and trade but most are cruelly slaughtered simply for being different. The survivors escape, returning in force in 2156 and destroy the Earth. But we have guardians. Another alien race has been observing this planet for thousands of years. Against all their teachings they use the time machine to change the future by modifying human development. Vast numbers of cerebral computers are to be produced The task of producing them in sufficient numbers proves to be impossible. And the decision is taken to use implants. The aliens will first introduce a global pandemic. The implants will be hidden in the antidote capsules sent by their home planet. But the numbers of the capsules sent will only be sufficient to save a percentage of the population resulting in two and a half billion humans being culled. However the survivors are to be offered the choice of living a disease free lifespan of between four to five hundred years. In the meantime the machine is at the disposal of the main character. Where would you visit if you had your own time machine? Would they include Ancient Rome, Athens, Troy. Or Egypt when the pyramids were being built? And then of course there is Atlantis. Extracts from a professional critique done on the bookThe very first impression I gained from The Pyramids of Atlantis is that it is a very professionally written and highly competently constructed novel which held my attention literally from first paragraph to last. It has drama, mystery and a sophisticated plot. I found myself reading the book in two sittings which is probably indicative of its quality since it is by no means a short novel. The book as a whole has a great deal to recommend it, not least the carefully conceived and generally well executed plot which I found to be very suitable for the target demographic. Overall, this is undoubtedly one of the best books of its type that I have read for some time. The locations, background and context as well as the more abstract psychological elements represent very specialised environments so it is important that the setting rings true. I would suspect that the author has either carried out a great deal of thorough research or was familiar with the context to an extent already. To look now at certain specifics, the plot of this work is very good indeed and the author has done well to fashion a credible plot from some situations which could have appeared a little exaggerated (but this can be forgiven in a book of this type where fantasy is reality and vice versa). This is, in part, because the novel is as much character driven as it is narrative driven.
Book Synopsis The Empires of Atlantis by : Marco M. Vigato
Download or read book The Empires of Atlantis written by Marco M. Vigato and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2021-12-21 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: • Traces the course of Atlantean civilization through its three empires, as well as the colonies and outposts formed by its survivors in Egypt, Göbekli Tepe, India, Mesopotamia, the Mediterranean, and North and South America • Shows how pyramids and other megalithic monuments testify to the survival of a “Sacred Science” of Atlantean origin and how this Sacred Science provided the foundation for esoteric traditions and secret societies throughout the ages • Draws on more than 500 ancient and modern sources and the author’s own personal exploration of hundreds of archaeological sites Exploring more than 100,000 years of Earth’s history, Marco Vigato combines recent discoveries in the the fields of archaeology, geology, anthropology, and genetics with the mystery teachings of antiquity to investigate the true origins of civilization. Establishing the historical and geological reality of Atlantis stretching all the way back to 432,000 BCE, he traces the course of Atlantean civilization through its three empires, revealing how civilization rose and fell several times over this lengthy span of time. The author shows that Atlantis did not vanish “in one terrible day and night” but survived in a variety of different forms well into the historical era. He reveals how the the first Atlantean civilization lasted from 432,000 to 35,335 BCE, the second one from 21,142 to 10,961 BCE, and the third Atlantis civilization--the one celebrated by Plato--collapsed in 9600 BCE, after the Younger Dryas cataclysm. The author examines the role of Atlantean survivors in restarting civilization in different parts of the world, from Göbekli Tepe and Egypt to India, Mesopotamia, and the Americas. He personally documents their colonies and outposts around the globe, offering unique views of the colossal network of pyramids, earthen mounds, and other megalithic monuments they le behind. He shows how these monuments testify to the survival of a sacred science of Atlantean origin, and he documents the survival of the primeval Atlantean tradition through various secret societies into the modern era. Drawing on more than 500 ancient and modern sources and sharing never-before-seen photographs from his own personal exploration of hundreds of archaeological sites around the world, Vigato shows not only that Atlantis was real but that the whole world is now being called to become a New Atlantis and awaken into a new golden age.

Download or read book The Lost Empire of Atlantis written by Gavin Menzies and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2011-11-08 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “MENZIES [IS] PROPOUNDING ONE OF THE MOST REVOLUTIONARY IDEAS IN THE HISTORY OF HISTORY.” —New York Times Magazine New York Times bestselling historian Gavin Menzies presents newly uncovered evidence revealing, conclusively, that “the lost city of Atlantis” was not only real but also at the heart of a highly advanced global empire that reached the shores of America before being violently wiped from the earth. For three millennia, the legend of Atlantis has gripped the imaginations of explorers, philosophers, occultists, treasure hunters, historians, and archaeologists. Until now, it has remained shrouded in myth. Yet, like ancient Troy, is it possible that this fabled city actually existed? If so, what happened to it and what are its secrets? The fascinating reality of Atlantis’s epic glory and destruction are uncovered, finally, in these pages in thrilling detail by the iconoclastic historian Gavin Menzies—father of some of “the most revolutionary ideas in the history of history” (New York Times). Meticulously analyzing exciting new geologic research, recently unearthed archaeological artifacts, and cutting-edge DNA evidence, Menzies has made a jaw-dropping discovery: Atlantis truly did exist, and was part of the incredibly advanced Minoan civilization that extended from its Mediterranean base to England, India, and even America. In The Lost Empire of Atlantis, he constructs a vivid portrait of this legendary civilization and shares his remarkable findings. As riveting as an Indiana Jones adventure, The Lost Empire of Atlantis is a revolutionary work of popular history that will forever change our understanding of the past.
Download or read book Atlantis written by Christos A. Djonis and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2021-06-11 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Never before has there been a real discovery where all the physical characteristics of a proposed location matched Plato’s description of Atlantis. Not even the original Santorini hypothesis could sufficiently meet the given criteria. After years of extensive research, in conjunction with new archeological evidence, and with the aid of satellite technology, Christos A. Djonis credibly reveals that Plato based his story of Atlantis on a real prehistoric setting, now beneath 400 feet of water. We now have a real discovery where all the physical characteristics, along with Plato’s given chronology, flawlessly match, and they are precisely in the exact order as Plato depicted. Moreover, DNA and archaeological evidence of an advanced Neolithic civilization occupying the prehistoric submerged island, at around 9600 BC, further confirm a perfect case scenario. “Finally, a study that gives a logical and well-supported documentation for the existence of Plato’s Atlantis! I was totally enthralled with this exciting piece of history...” C.A Schultz, Schultz Studios

Book Synopsis Discovery of Atlantis by : Robert Sarmast
Download or read book Discovery of Atlantis written by Robert Sarmast and published by Origin Press (CA). This book was released on 2004 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Plato provided 53 physical clues in his famous dialogue Critias -- the original account of the story of Atlantis that is the sole basis of all Atlantis research. The book proves that the island of Cyprus and the underwater landscape just south of Cyprus is a perfect match with 51 of these clues. Exclusive 3D bathymetric maps based on new scientific data show for the first time a stretch of sunken land off of Cyprus. The general layout of the landscape of Atlantis as described by Plato is easily discernible on this underwater land mass, as well as the precise location of its capital-Atlantis City. This robust empirical data is joined with other original findings based on mythological analysis and historical research, making the case for Cyprus increasingly obvious. With this compelling new interpretation of Plato, author Robert Sarmast brings the legendary island of Atlantis alive for the first time. With the location so clearly mapped in this book, the next step in this exciting research is an expedition to the region. Humankind may soon witness the filming of the colossal ruins of this once-mighty empire and proceed to resurrect Atlantis from its watery tomb!
