Book Synopsis Time and the End of Time by : John Fox
Download or read book Time and the End of Time written by John Fox and published by Reformation Heritage Books. This book was released on 2016-08-20 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: John Fox’s Time and the End of Time presents the never-dying soul with the weighty things one must deal with while standing on the coast of eternity: God, sin, heaven, hell, and, most of all, the personal work of Christ. Fox’s piercing and searching exposition of two main texts, Ephesians 5:16 and Deuteronomy 32:29, engages readers with motivations, directions, and applications so they can both “redeem the time” and “consider their latter end.” The span of life on earth quickly vanishes, and what is done with it will make or mar for eternity. Either infinite joy with God or the endless abyss of His fury—the hinge swings in time. “Therefore, do not procrastinate or delay...for a world.”

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book came from experiences I have gone through in my Christian walk. I became a Christian in 1993 and soon enough I came to know that if I were to enjoy my Christian life, I had to renew my mind with the Word of God. I also came to realize that, the environment that I grew up in and the developed mind set over the years, were directing how I related to God and His Word. To a larger extent, this was always in conflict with the Word of God. I would get frustrated when my prayers were not answered how and when I wanted them to. I would begin to ask myself questions such as; "Is God punishing me for something? Did God really hear my prayers? How did so and so receive what I have been asking for months?" But as I continued to study and mature in the Word of God, things became clearer. Sometimes a believer will struggle with questions, but fear to ask them, fearing being judged or presuming they are of little or no faith. Throughout my ministry, I have dedicated myself to encouraging people to overcome their fears in order to reach their God given potential. I believe that all of us are capable of living a full life, but misinterpretation of what is a full life creates frustration. This book is a compass to the person who is trying to figure out where their Christian life is and where it is heading. I present truths in this book in a simple and understandable language without diluting the intended message. I am currently the founding Pastor at God Our Rock International Church in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Book Synopsis The Oedipus Casebook by : Mark R. Anspach
Download or read book The Oedipus Casebook written by Mark R. Anspach and published by MSU Press. This book was released on 2020-02-01 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who killed Laius? Most readers assume Oedipus did. At the play’s end, he stands convicted of murdering his father, marrying his mother, and triggering a deadly plague. With selections from a stellar assortment of critics including Walter Burkert, Terry Eagleton, Michel Foucault, René Girard, and Jean-Pierre Vernant, this book reopens the Oedipus case and lets readers judge for themselves. The Greek word for tragedy means “goat song.” Is Oedipus the goat? Helene Peet Foley calls him “the kind of leader a democracy would both love and desire to ostracize.” The Oedipus Casebook readings weigh the evidence against Oedipus, place the play in the context of Greek scapegoat rites, and explore the origins of tragedy in the festival of Dionysus. This unique critical edition includes a new translation of the play by distinguished classics scholar Wm. Blake Tyrrell and the authoritative Greek text established by H. Lloyd-Jones and N. G. Wilson.
