Book Synopsis Time Series Techniques for Economists by : Terence C. Mills
Download or read book Time Series Techniques for Economists written by Terence C. Mills and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1990 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The application of time series techniques in economics has become increasingly important, both for forecasting purposes and in the empirical analysis of time series in general. In this book, Terence Mills not only brings together recent research at the frontiers of the subject, but also analyses the areas of most importance to applied economics. It is an up-to-date text which extends the basic techniques of analysis to cover the development of methods that can be used to analyse a wide range of economic problems. The book analyses three basic areas of time series analysis: univariate models, multivariate models, and non-linear models. In each case the basic theory is outlined and then extended to cover recent developments. Particular emphasis is placed on applications of the theory to important areas of applied economics and on the computer software and programs needed to implement the techniques. This book clearly distinguishes itself from its competitors by emphasising the techniques of time series modelling rather than technical aspects such as estimation, and by the breadth of the models considered. It features many detailed real-world examples using a wide range of actual time series. It will be useful to econometricians and specialists in forecasting and finance and accessible to most practitioners in economics and the allied professions.

Book Synopsis Design and Analysis of Experiments, Volume 3 by : Klaus Hinkelmann
Download or read book Design and Analysis of Experiments, Volume 3 written by Klaus Hinkelmann and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-02-14 with total page 598 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Provides timely applications, modifications, and extensions of experimental designs for a variety of disciplines Design and Analysis of Experiments, Volume 3: Special Designs and Applications continues building upon the philosophical foundations of experimental design by providing important, modern applications of experimental design to the many fields that utilize them. The book also presents optimal and efficient designs for practice and covers key topics in current statistical research. Featuring contributions from leading researchers and academics, the book demonstrates how the presented concepts are used across various fields from genetics and medicinal and pharmaceutical research to manufacturing, engineering, and national security. Each chapter includes an introduction followed by the historical background as well as in-depth procedures that aid in the construction and analysis of the discussed designs. Topical coverage includes: Genetic cross experiments, microarray experiments, and variety trials Clinical trials, group-sequential designs, and adaptive designs Fractional factorial and search, choice, and optimal designs for generalized linear models Computer experiments with applications to homeland security Robust parameter designs and split-plot type response surface designs Analysis of directional data experiments Throughout the book, illustrative and numerical examples utilize SAS®, JMP®, and R software programs to demonstrate the discussed techniques. Related data sets and software applications are available on the book's related FTP site. Design and Analysis of Experiments, Volume 3 is an ideal textbook for graduate courses in experimental design and also serves as a practical, hands-on reference for statisticians and researchers across a wide array of subject areas, including biological sciences, engineering, medicine, and business.
Book Synopsis Three Essays on Analysis of Duration-driven Time Series by : Meng-Chen Hsieh
Download or read book Three Essays on Analysis of Duration-driven Time Series written by Meng-Chen Hsieh and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dissertation is composed of three chapters on duration-driven time series analysis. Chapter 1 presents the asymptotics for the duration-driven long range dependent processes, i.e. the Taqqu-Levy process and the Parke process. Chapter 2 provides possible routes to induce long memory in volatility of financial returns through a combination study of theorems, simulations, and exploratory data analysis on trade durations. Chapter 3 extends the univariate duration models to the bivariate case and conducted diagnostic tests for these models by empirical data analysis and simulations.

Book Synopsis Epistemology and Inference by : Henry Ely Kyburg
Download or read book Epistemology and Inference written by Henry Ely Kyburg and published by U of Minnesota Press. This book was released on with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Epistemology and Inference was first published in 1983. Minnesota Archive Editions uses digital technology to make long-unavailable books once again accessible, and are published unaltered from the original University of Minnesota Press editions. Henry Kyburg has developed an original and important perspective on probabilistic and statistical inference. Unlike much contemporary writing by philosophers on these topics, Kyburg's work is informed by issues that have arisen in statistical theory and practice as well as issues familiar to professional philosophers. In two major books and many articles, Kyberg has elaborated his technical proposals and explained their ramifications for epistemology, decision-making, and scientific inquiry. In this collection of published and unpublished essays, Kyburg presents his novel ideas and their applications in a manner that makes them accessible to philosophers and provides specialists in probability and induction with a concise exposition of his system.
