[This report] is based on over 470 interviews with students, parents, and teachers in 60 countries between April 2020 and April 2021. It documents how Covid-related school closures did not affect all children equally, as governments failed to provide all children with the opportunity, tools, or access needed to keep learning during the pandemic. Students from groups already facing discrimination and exclusion from education even before the pandemic were disproportionately adversely affected. Governments' long-term failures to remedy discrimination and inequalities in their education systems, and often to ensure basic government services, such as affordable, reliable electricity in homes, or facilitate affordable internet access, meant schools entered the pandemic ill-prepared to deliver remote education to all students equally. Children from low-income families were more likely to be excluded from online learning because they did not have reliable electricity or sufficient access to the internet or devices. Needing to get back our bearings – personally, organizationally, politically – we started discussions to try to understand the situation better, including the nature of this global health crisis, how it was affecting different aspects of our national life, how it was especially reshaping women’s lives on the ground, how government was responding (or not), the role of the private sector and other institutions, the plight of ordinary citizens. We probed our own areas of work and engagement. We invited friends and colleagues where we needed help. We saw it to be our responsibility to continue to surface and strengthen women’s perspectives and agency in these difficult and extraordinary times. Book excerpt: The purpose of this guidance document is for the appropriate selection procurement utilization and maintenance of oxygen concentrators. This document also focuses on recommendations for the appropriate use and maintenance of oxygen concentrators in an effort to increase the availability management and quality of oxygen concentrators and ultimately to improve health outcomes in LRS. This document is intended to serve as a resource for the planning and provision of local and national oxygen concentrator systems for use by administrators clinicians and technicians who are interested in improving access to oxygen therapy and reducing global mortality associated with hypoxaemia.
