Download or read book Thirty Minor Upanishads (Classic Reprint) written by Narayanasvami Aiyar and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-09-12 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Thirty Minor Upanishads There are many editions of the Upanishads to be found in Calcutta, Bombay, Poona, South India and other places. But we found that the South Indian editions, which were nearly the same in Telugu or Grantha characters, were in many cases ful ler and more intelligible and significant. Hence we adopted for our translation South Indian editions. The edition of the 108 Upanishads which the late Tukaram Tatya of Bombay has pub lished in Devanagari characters approaches the South Indian edition. As the South Indian edition of the Upanishads is not available for the study of all, I intend to have the recensions of that edition printed in Devanagari characters, so that even those that have a little knowledge of Sanscrit may be able to' follow the original with the help of this translation. Book Synopsis The Hindu Quest for the Perfection of Man by : Troy W. Organ
Download or read book The Hindu Quest for the Perfection of Man written by Troy W. Organ and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 1998-07-27 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A lucid, thorough and fresh exploration of the material. This is an exceedingly helpful study and may be the best single textbook on the subject. Previously, there was little of note in between inadequate introductions to Hindu thought and the more specialized primary or secondary materials. Organ is a competent philosopher and presents the 'Hindu quest' in a scholarly and readable form...it is a key book for undergraduate libraries and would be an invaluable asset in a course which dealt seriously and at any length with the Hindu tradition. Excellent bibliography." --Choice "This is not just another book on Hinduism, but a source of systematic information..." --Bibliography of Philosophy "This scholarly and perceptive account makes Hindu beliefs and practices intelligible by showing how the contradictions which have puzzled Westerners are rooted in Human Diversity." --The Review of Metaphysics
Book Synopsis Hindu-Christian Dialogue by : Mariasusai Dhavamony
Download or read book Hindu-Christian Dialogue written by Mariasusai Dhavamony and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2021-11-15 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dialogue is an integral part of the mission of the Christian church. The immensity of the ocean of Hindu doctrine and thought presents a significant obstacle to Christians who have been invited by the Roman Catholic Church to “scrutinize the divine Mystery” present in other religions. Many, fascinated by Hindu mysticism, confuse permanent Hindu beliefs with certain current Western religious movements. India’s quest for the divine embodies multiple forms. Its millennia-old methods of meditation and varieties of asceticism often confuse those who are less inclined to experience of an inner spiritual nature. This book attempts to address some of these difficulties and questions. It is the author’s belief that in the Hindu-Christian encounter the Christian believer will also rediscover the originality and newness of the Christian revelation, viz. the intervention of God in the history of salvation whereby God reveals his salvific love in Jesus Christ. Possessing expert knowledge of both Hinduism and Christianity, the author approaches the Hindu-Christian dialogue with sympathy and discernment.
Book Synopsis Theology and World Politics by : Vassilios Paipais
Download or read book Theology and World Politics written by Vassilios Paipais and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-03-02 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Situated within the wider post-secular turn in politics and international relations, this volume focuses not on religion per se, but rather explicitly on theology. Contributions to this collection highlight the political theological foundations of international theory and world politics, recasting theology and politics as symbiotic discourses with all the risks, promises and open questions this relation may involve. The overarching claim the book makes is that all politics has theology embedded in it, both in the genealogical sense of carrying ineradicable traces of rival theological traditions, and also in the more ontological sense of being enacted by alternative configurations of the theologico-political. The book is unique in bringing together a diverse group of scholars, spanning knowledge areas as varied as IR, political theory, philosophy, theology, and history to investigate the complex interconnections between theology and world politics. It will be of interest to students and scholars of political theory, international relations, intellectual history, and political theology.

Download or read book Self & Non Self written by Raphael, and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-10-12 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an enquiry into the concept of the 'self', transcending the barriers of 'non-self' and realizing the non-dual Consciousness within and without. This concept is the central theme of Advaita Vedanta. The Drg-drsya-viveka is a short treatise of forty-six Sanskrit verses which analyses the illusory perceptions of names and forms in the states of dreams and waking as well. The commentator gives a scientific explanation of the meaning of Self and Non Self, helping the reader to discriminate and separate the observer (drk) from the observed objects (drsya).
