Book excerpt: Lattice QCD with 2 light staggered quark flavours is being simulated on a 163 x 8 lattice to study the transition from hadronic matter to a quark gluon plasma. We have completed runs at m{sub q} = 0.0125 and are extending this to m{sub q} = 0.00625. We also examine the addition of a non-dynamical strange'' quark. Thermodynamic order parameters are being measured across the transition and further into the plasma phase, as are various screening lengths. No evidence for a first order transition is seen, and we estimate the transition temperature to be {Tc} = 143(7)MeV.

Book excerpt: The HTMCGC collaboration has been simulating lattice QCD with two light staggered quarks with masses m[sub q] = 0.0125 and also m[sub q] = 0.00625 on a 16[sup 3] [times] 8 lattice. We have been studying the behavior of the transition from hadronic matter to a quark-gluon plasma and the properties of that plasma. We have been measuring entropy densities, Debye and hadronic screening lengths, the spacial string tension and topological susceptibility in addition to the standard order parameters. The HEMCGC collaboration has simulated lattice QCD with two light staggered quarks, m[sub q] = 0.025 and m[sub q] = 0.010 on a 16[sup 3] [times] 32 lattice. We have measured the glueball spectrum and topological susceptibilities for these runs.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Simulations of Lattice QCD with 4 flavors of light staggered quarks (m = .025) were performed on a 123 x 4 lattice, confirming the first order nature of the transition. Lattice QCD with a light isodoublet of staggered quarks (m = .0125), and a heavier singlet (m = .25) was studied, also on a 123 x 4 lattice. The order of the transition was less clear. Improved glueball wavefunctions have been used to study glueball spectra in theories incorporating dynamical quarks. 10 refs., 3 figs.

Book excerpt: We have studied the restoration of chiral symmetry in lattice QCD at the finite temperature transition from hadronic matter to a quark-gluon plasma. By measuring the screening masses of flavour singlet and non-singlet meson excitations, we have seen evidence that, although flavour chiral symmetry is restored at this transition, flavour singlet (U(1)) axial symmetry is not. We conclude that this indicates that instantons continue to play an important role in the quark-gluon plasma phase.
Book Synopsis THERMODYNAMICS OF TWO-FLAVOR LATTICE QCD WITH AN IMPROVED WILSON QUARK ACTION AT NON-ZERO TEMPERATURE AND DENSITY. by : Y. MAEZAWA

This book was released on 2006 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors report the current status of the systematic studies of the QCD thermodynamics by lattice QCD simulations with two flavors of improved Wilson quarks. They evaluate the critical temperature of two flavor QCD in the chiral limit at zero chemical potential and show the preliminary result. Also they discuss fluctuations at none-zero temperature and density by calculating the quark number and isospin susceptibilities and their derivatives with respect to chemical potential.

Book excerpt: We review studies of QCD thermodynamics by lattice QCD simulations with dynamical Wilson quarks. After explaining the basic properties of QCD with Wilson quarks at finite temperature including the phase structure and the scaling properties around the chiral phase transition, we discuss the critical temperature, the equation of state and heavy-quark free energies.

Book excerpt: We report on our study of QCD thermodynamics with 2 + 1 flavors of dynamical quarks. In this proceeding we present several thermodynamic quantities and our recent calculation of the critical temperature. In order to investigate the thermodynamic properties of QCD near the continuum limit we adopt improved staggered (p4) quarks coupled with tree-level Symanzik improved glue on N{sub t} = 4 and 6 lattices. The simulations are performed with a physical value of the strange quark mass and light quark masses which are in the range of m{sub q}/m{sub s} = 0.05 - 0.4. The lightest quark mass corresponds to a pion mass of about 150 MeV.

Download or read book Thermodynamics of Lattice QCD with Massless Quarks and Chiral 4-fermion Interactions written by and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: N{sub f} = 2 lattice QCD with massless quarks and a weak 4-fermion interaction appears to have the expected second order transition, at least for N{sub t} ≥ 6. More work is needed to clarify the N{sub t} = 4 case. With more statistics the N{sub t} = 6 simulations should produce an accurate determination of the critical exponent [beta]{sub m}. Moving to finite mass at [beta] = [beta]{sub c} should allow an accurate determination of [sigma]. Hadronic screening masses need further analysis. Other order parameters remain to be analyzed. Unfortunately, there is no obvious way to include 4-fermion interactions with full SU(2) x SU(2) chiral flavor symmetry.

Download or read book Microcanonical and Hybrid Simulations of Lattice Quantum Chromodynamics with Dynamical Fermions written by and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lattice QCD is simulated using Microcanonical and Hybrid (Micro-canonical/Langevin) methods to facilitate the inclusion of dynamical fermions (quarks). We report on simulations with 4 flavors of light dynamical quarks on a 103 x 6 lattice to study the finite temperature deconfinement/chiral transition which should be observable in relativistic heavy ion collisions, as a function of quark mass. A first order transition is observed at large mass, weakens at intermediate mass and strengthens for very small quark mass.
