Book Synopsis International Thermodynamic Tables of the Fluid State Helium-4 by : S. Angus
Download or read book International Thermodynamic Tables of the Fluid State Helium-4 written by S. Angus and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-04-20 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International Thermodynamic Tables of the Fluid State Helium-4 presents the IUPAC Thermodynamic Tables for the thermodynamic properties of helium. The IUPAC Thermodynamic Tables Project has therefore encouraged the critical analysis of the available thermodynamic measurements for helium and their synthesis into tables. This book is divided into three chapters. The first chapter discusses the experimental results and compares with the equations used to generate the tables. These equations are supplemented by a vapor pressure equation, which represents the 1958 He-4 scale of temperature that is defined in terms of the vapor pressure of helium-4. The second chapter are devoted to various equation of state used for the determination of thermodynamic properties. The third chapter contains IUPAC Tables, including their construction, limits, use, and accuracy. This book will be of value to physical chemists and researchers in the field.

Book Synopsis Helium Cryogenics by : Steven W. Van Sciver
Download or read book Helium Cryogenics written by Steven W. Van Sciver and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 441 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At least 10 years have elapsed since a comprehensive monograph concer ned with the broad subject of cryogenics has been published. During this time a considerable quantity of research and development has been carried out in the field of cryogenics. Furthermore, there has been a certain degree of redirection of effort within the field, mostly driven by the variety of new applications, ranging from superconductive magnet systems to micro electronics. Greater emphasis is now being placed on low-temperature cryogenics, particularly that of liquid helium. Until now cryogenic books have provided a broad survey of materials and fluid properties over the entire cryogenic regime, T ::5 150 K. This approach does not allow sufficient detail in any particular area to bring the reader to the current level of understanding in the subject. In addition, the behavior of helium has been lumped with that of other cryogenic fluids, although the properties of helium are quite unique. As a result, a clear relationship has not been established between the fundamental understanding of helium fluids and their potential applications. The present book has been written to fill this void. The approach is to survey the field of cryogenics, specifically as it pertains to helium fluids. This approach is more specialized than that contained in previous cryogenics books. Furthermore, the level of treatment is more advanced and a certain knowledge of fundamental engineering and physics principles has been assumed.

Download or read book Advances in Cryogenic Engineering written by K.D. Timmerhaus and published by Springer. This book was released on 1988 with total page 1208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 1987 joint Cryogenic Engineering Conference/International Cryogenic Materials Conference was held at the Pheasant Run Resort, St. Charles, lliinois from June 14 to 18. Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, located a few kilometers from Pheasant Run, was the host for this conference. There is a great deal of cryogenic research and development underway at Fermilab and many applications of cryogenic materials and systems are in rou tine, daily use at the Tevatron. The technical program for the joint conference had over 300 invited and contributed papers from many different countries. The CEC board and I have tried to dramatically shorten the publication time of this volume of Advances in Cryogenic Engineering. In order to help meet the goal of the February publication, I asked the reviewers to complete their reviews before leaving Pheasant Run, after the conference. I would like to thank all of the reviewers for their prompt and throughtful reviews. I very much appreciate the authors following the prescribed format and responding quickly to my requests for revisions.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the 1975 Cryogenic Engineering Conference this se ries enters the third decade of presenting the latest advances in the field of cryogenic engineering. The 1975 Cryogenic Engineering Conference also marked the first time the meeting had been held outside the territorial limits of the United States. Based on the enthusiastic response of the attendees and the exemplary hospitality of the Canadian hosts, it certainly will not be the last meeting to convene beyond the confines of the fifty states. The Cryogenic Engineering Conference Board is extremely grateful to The Royal Military College of Canada and Queen's University for the invitation to hold this meeting in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. The assistance of A. C. Leonard and his staff added immeasurably in making this visit to Canada both a pie asant and a memorable one. The 1975 Cryogenic Engineering Conference was the first meeting of this group on the new biennial conference schedule. Since the last conference in 1973, the Western Hemisphere has experienced the impact of various energy shortages. Thus, it was appropriate that the theme "Cryogenics Applied to Natural Resource Management" for this Conference was not only timely but also an opportunity for the scientific community engaged in cryogenic activities to review the role of cryogenics in meeting these new challenges and problems facing the energy-deficient nations of the world. The Cryogenic Engineering Conference was also pleased to have the Interna tional Cryogenic Materials Conference join them in this meeting.
