Book excerpt: There will come a time when you must decide to lead the life someone else has chosen for you…or the life you want. According to legend, when a young boy asked the great Renaissance artist Michelangelo why he was working so hard hitting the block of marble that would eventually become his greatest sculpture, David, the artist replied, “Young man, there is an angel inside this rock, and I am setting him free.” In The Angel Inside, the renowned consultant and career coach Chris Widener uses Michelangelo’s words to explore the hidden potential that exists within us all. In this unforgettable tale, Tom Cook, a disillusioned American businessman, has traveled to Italy looking for direction in his life. In Florence, the last city on his tour, Tom meets a mysterious old man who opens his eyes to the art and life of Michelangelo and reveals what the artist’s work can teach him—and all of us—about the power of following your passion. Among the lessons that Tom learns over the course of the next day: The beauty is in the details Your hand creates what your mind conceives All great accomplishments start with a single swift action No one begins by creating the Sistine Chapel Whether you’re looking for a way to reinvigorate your career or searching for the courage to begin a new one, THE ANGEL INSIDE is a must-read if you want to find true meaning in your life and work. The break-out business parable that’s already sold more than 70,000 copies, The Angel Inside tells the story of a young man searching for meaning in his work and finding it in an unlikely place: the life and art of Michelangelo.

I believe that poetry should at the very least give a clear expression of the artists point of view to the reader. It should be able to establish a sense of understanding and common experience between the artist and the reader. And I believe that poetry should inspire hope in the creation of a better reality, the ideal reality that lives in each persons imagination. Diego LLisebir

Falling Angels follows the fortunes of two families in the emerging years of the twentieth century in England, while the Queen's death reverberates through a changing nation. Told through a variety of shifting perspectives—wives and husbands, friends and lovers, masters and their servants, and a gravedigger's son—Falling Angels is graced with the luminous imagery that distinguished Girl With a Pearl Earring, Falling Angels is another dazzling tour de force from this "master of voices" (The New York Times Book Review).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Children are known to have wild imaginzations, which explains why their stuffed animals talk and invisible friends get invited to tea parties. So it's no wonder than when a child reports a personal encounter with an angel, adults tend to dismiss it with a wry smile and say, "That's nice, sweetie. Why don't you go outside and play?" But Joan Wester Anderson says "not so fast." If Jesus himself taught that the kingdom of heaven belongs to children, there's no reason in the world not to believe that God can reveal his love to little ones through angels. In An Angel to Watch Over Me (originally published by Random House in 1994, with sales of 150,000 copies), Anderson shares more than 30 stories of children's experiences with celestial beings--from a boy whose angels helps him conquer his fear of thunderstorms to a girl who is miraculously rescued from her burning home. From angels who combat evil and darkness to angels who bring news of comfort and joy, each of these accounts is grounded in traditional Christian belief, eschewing any New Age interpretation of the events. For all who are open to the possibility that even children can have authentic spiritual lives--and that attaining a certain age is not a prerequisite for God to touch our lives in the form of heavenly helpers--this book is sure to stir the soul and fan the faith.

Book excerpt: Musings is a collection of short, easy-reading essays dealing with the challenges of life. Do we take certain beliefs for granted? Are our beliefs distorted by hand-me-down thinking? How can we respond to others with love, acceptance, and compassion? Poetry and humor are interspersed throughout this book's invitation to contemplate a deeper spiritual awareness. If the Beatitudes in the Bible were rewritten today, would we find this one: "Blessed are they whose plans have been foiled, for they shall be given the opportunity to see the world anew"? Readers are suggested to pick one essay a day. Reflect on the deeper messages and chuckle with the lighter moments while you consider choices that can lighten the load of living.

Book excerpt: Some people in life are given a second chance. Sometimes it is from a doctor sometimes you can't explain it. I am one of those cases that could not be explained.....until now. I am from a small town in southern B.C. called Armstrong ... I am a miracle. This is a bizarre story to say the least. I have an angel that speaks through me. I have been like this since January 27, 2006. The angel has said: That I was like Christ on the cross The angel said, also, that It has taken me five years to understand my own story. This story is a warning for those who do not think God is real. Some will not believe this story. Some of you will realize how a miracle works. I hope some will listen ... I hope. To even believe what I am saying you must know what I have been through. On August 20, 1979 I was in a high speed car crash. Racing at 100 miles an hour I rolled my car end over end eight times. I was hung out of the car and crushed from the waist up. My skull took the hit. I was phoned in DOA. But a doctor passing by saw the car crash and pulled me from my car and found a pulse. I was rushed to the nearest large hospital in Vernon, but I was in critical condition. Initially the diagnosis was that I had a broken collar bone, and had to wear an eye patch for months. I now have my hospital records which show that my skull was badly fractured, and my brain was bleeding. I lost most of my brain fluid. It was coming out of my ears and nose. Both eardrums burst and my right optic nerve was cut and my right side was paralysed. I was not given much hope. The local funeral home sent prices to my parents to bury me. The doctors told my family that if I lived I would be in a wheelchair and a vegetable. My family and friends - and a town - prayed for me. There was a friend of the family who worked at the local radio station and I was big news. Every day my condition was on the air waves. Then on the 23rd something happened. All I remembered was a bright, bright red light but I began to recover and get better and better. Seven days later I was about to be released. The doctor who was treating me told me that he did not know how but that it was a miracle. Then I walked out of the hospital.

Book excerpt: Didn’t you get the hint yet? I’m not a nice guy. I’m the man you need to fear. Hell, I sell fear. We call it protection, but in the end? Fear is what they want in return for their payment. I’m Grigory ‘Ford’ Dudnik, head of The Dudnik Circle. The Russian Mob, in case you need a label. We take care of threats, gangs, enemy or distasteful situations our clients may find themselves in. We have an obligation to do what’s wrong on a regular basis but even within the fine lines of murder and just plain old handling shit, we’ve got honor. If that’s not enough…I’ve managed to tangle myself up with the head of another gang. Tarzan. Type of person? Hanged a man at a construction site, climbed the rope and stomped on the guy’s neck while swinging on the rope. Seems like Tarzan wanted to kill him twice. My past and future seem to collide as we are contracted to handle a gang connected with snuff films. Loose ends are now left dangling; I either need to grab hold of the ropes and string knots or cut ties. Or feel the burn of the rope around my throat, leaving no room for revenge. **This dark, intense, standalone romance is not for the faint of heart. You've been warned.**

Book excerpt: What if you had been in Jerusalem the day that Christ was crucified? What would have happened to you in the immediacy of those turbulent hours? Let the eyewitnesses tell you what they saw, what they heard, and how they felt. This fictional account, based upon the events recorded in the Gospels, puts you inside the day that changed the path of human history. See these accounts, not as prophetic utterances, but as one might view a stained-glass image or an icon, a work of imagination that allows you to peer into the hearts and souls of the people who were there. Through the eyes of nineteen witnesses'as varied as the apostle Peter, Simon of Cyrene, Pontius Pilate, Mary Magdalene, Judas Iscariot, and the Lord's mother'you can experience the way God transformed the worst news imaginable into the Good News.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Though it may seem a bit complicated, the story is simple, and when all the pieces are laid out, it is plain to see where it all began. It started with one single human by the name of Tane MacGregor; one single, officially insane, homeless dust rag of a man. He occasionally caught glances from passing strangers as he swung his feet rhythmically from the drawbridge over the calm waters of Spa Creek, and he was often found in the company of angels. As it was said, MacGregor was seen as the glue, the string binding all the events and beings which created a rather remarkable occurrence in the soft, beautifully adjacent, scenic towns of Annapolis and Eastport and, in particular, about the small Eastport Drawbridge over Spa Creek, spanning and dividing the two. Now, as the story would be told and retold in most homes and taverns around the Chesapeake for many years, it was too easily called coincidence. True, it began at a certain time with a certain person, in a certain situation, accompanied by an incredible series of events, people, celestial beings, lawyers, homeless schizophrenics, ghosts, God, junk food, and small deviations in time and space, with waving definitions of good and evil, all coming together in a perfect harmonic mix but coincidence?
